pea Ridge is the mule Jumpin Capital of the World. I live in Pea Ridge Born and raised there. I knew all the old timers that started the mule Jumping at Pea Ridge. I grew up coon huntin. Ive coon hunted on mules a couple times when I was about 12. Lots of people used to coon hunt around here, but there are not to many of them still doin it. You people that think that mule jumping is mean or cruel need to shut your holes. You dont even have a clue about whats going on.
What's your point? Height does not automatically grant scope, or even correlate to it. There's plenty of 17hh+ horses who can barely clear anything higher than 3'6.
Mule jumping contests occur all over the place. I just went to one in Altenburg, MO where some of the best compete. I call the video Mule Jump - Van Halen. Check it out.
Its cool because horses can't really jump from a standstill like this x-D thats why they used mules for pulling really big things (like trains) when they needed many animals, to make turns, the mules had to jump the center chain that connected them all together, from a stand still lol. (think of 24 mules hitched together, hard to make a tight turn!)
Coon hunting mules are breed to do that in the field, just like rodeo is ranching. They load in the truck just like a dog. At a fence you through a blanket over the wire, mule jumps over, you climb through and off you go. Mules can be amazing beasts.
That's cool that the mule jumped that high but he could've seriously hurt himself just jumping it from a stand. He could've tripped or blown a tendon from that.
what i like best is that they pat the mule after the jump and tell it "good job". It's what I love to see in people :)

Mules are the only equine that can jump from a stand still so they where showing off how high their mule can jump from a stand still.

oh kewl thanks
ponyluver1126 2 years ago
a run up would have been nice tho :P
abbimcgx 2 years ago
Well, any horse (Olympic level) can jump that high from a running start. But none can jump from a stand still(unless they are part mule)
The people in the video are just showing off.
HorseRidingAntEasy 2 years ago
ino but still :)

Says who... you?
I've seen Eric Lamaze and Rio Grande jump a 4'6 vertical with no momentum. Quite a few other horses that I know of who can do similar.
Sure the average horse wouldn't be able to do so, as easily as the average mule... but what you're claiming here is just not factual.
ImmortalSynn 2 years ago
@ImmortalSynn Well this mule looks about what, 14 hands? 14.2? Rio Grande is 17.1 hands.

The only thing Mules should be jumping is into a pit of spikes. Or off a bridge preferably with concrete blocks tied around their feet.
