However we here in Canada and the US could take a page out of Norway in that we need to lower taxes for the wealthy and big business and shift more of thetax burden to the working class. I would agree with you on that. But I would also say that the gradations between classes are both too coarse (not enough "steps") and not steep enough. Imagine a line that roughly approximates the tax percentage by income. I would increase the number of points on that line and increase its slope, basically pivoting it around the $40000- or $50000-annual-income percentages.

I am not disagreeing that the rich should not be taxed more as believe it or not, it is capitalist like Adam Smith who believe this as well. There are these things called computer games. And those with some skill can do unusual things with them. Such as making two AI players, assigned to custom countries, battle each other.

Are you familiar with DEFCON? It has a "variable units" mode, where there are a set number of 'credits' to spend on whatever type of units you please; silos are more expensive, and that is what the US AI "chose".

@1RadicalOne Exactly my point I was making it costs money and is not free as people oh so imply. It irks me when people say here that health care is free and of really great quality. On paper it states it is available to anyone, but people have to wait, wait, and wait for care in many instances. Furthermore the provinces don't cover all surgeries as there are many in the US and in some cases Europe, that the government will not pay for.
Canada needs to abolish not universal care, but ..

People have a choice of private providers and can leave and choose another if they are not satisfied. Government has oversight of the private providers, but not a dominating presence. Look at some of the countries in Northern Europe - taxes there are 60% or sometimes more, and pay for education, healthcare, and a variety of other services.
And those countries just happen to have the highest standards of living in the world.
And Canada, being almost like that, has a very high one as well, usually top 20.
The US seldom makes the top 100.

@1RadicalOne High taxes do not necessarly correalate to high living standard and vice versa and tax rates in Scandnavia are not 60% . However we here in Canada and the US could take a page out of Norway in that we need to lower taxes for the wealthy and big business and shift more of thetax burden to the working class. Thats right, a corporation and high income earner in Norway pays less tax than US or Canadian equivelants. Canada also needs to give its people more options for private medicine

I would agree with you on that. But I would also say that the gradations between classes are both too coarse (not enough "steps") and not steep enough. Imagine a line that roughly approximates the tax percentage by income. I would increase the number of points on that line and increase its slope, basically pivoting it around the $40000- or $50000-annual-income percentages.

@1RadicalOne I think we need to cut down on the steps and simplify the tax code, not complicate it further. I am not disagreeing that the rich should not be taxed more as believe it or not, it is capitalist like Adam Smith who believe this as well. But in N.A. countries the tax burden so heavly placed on classes other than the middle class, despite the fact the middle class represents the largest portion of the population. In terms of taxation, the middle class is getting with way too much
