  • danhq253 u say nissan motors in holdens are crap but ure name says u have a 253 v8 and they are the crapest holden motor ever buddy and i think that my supercharged rb30 vl will beat a hq with a crapy 155hp 253 because the 253s come out with less than 200 hp so lol on u

  • thats not in shell cove is it?

  • pull your skirts up guys, nissan engines in holdens are crap. this vid is of a turbo 202 (a real engine) in a holden the way it should be

  • Just think...You blokes wouldn't have a decent 6 without NISSAN. My brothers got a VL.

It's got a NISSAN badge off a patrol on it! LOL!

Imagine trying to compete with a 202! RALMFAO!

  • lol please matie, ive got a 202 here that hasnt had a service in 8 years (plugs, leads, filters, oil.. noting just top ups) and it doesnt miss a beat. Ive known the RB30's to be pricks to drive when looked after.

    go drive ur rice burner

  • No rice burners here son! ED XR6 and AU3 XR8 220.

And i'm only stirring bout the 202. It's ok.

If i went a commodore i'd get a VH, drop it and hot up a red 202 or 186hp even.

    Just to be diffrent.

  • ah good to hear there is an actual car fan on here. Im a holden guy but if its australian i can listen to it :D.

And for the record, i also have a cammed up 308 which is a little more fun than the 202.

  • i have a lc torana with a red 202 has extractors roller rockers camed flat top pistons 0.30 iron rings and i also have a vl with an rb30 you and ive owned it for 5 or so years i can start it any time its been sheded since 91 and it always starts first pot no fucking around where as my 202 ive spent way more money on and it still gives me problems every few weeks i let it sit. also the birdwood to bay was awesome i dusted of the lc and give her some shit but yeah for reliabilty rb30 is the way

  • good to hear u got a good motor then, im just not big on the RB30's. to me it was when holden went downhill and it kept on going. Holden was never the same after that.

  • yeah i know what your saying mate id never put my rb30 in my torana but i am thinking of upgrading once my wife lets me have my bank card for the day thing 308 not to sure at the moment but the 202s get a bit average but im in no way saying there shit thanks for the reply mate take care

  • na ur dead right. 10 years ago a tricked up 202 was fun, but now stock V6's match them for performance with better economy. I love holden motors but u have to think realistically, i just had to get rid of both my 202 and 308 but now have a ford EF 4.0 efi which is a hoot to drive.

And LOL for getting ur bank card back haha

  • @Paiste402 i know this is a 1 y/o post but i highly doubt a stock v6 will match up to these 202's running high 12's

  • The rb30's are known to blow head gaskets easily. It's a fairly common problem with them.

  • they sound like fords

  • if the rb30 is such a ledgend why did nissan go to the smaller series rb20/25/26 in the later model gtr skylines instead of developing the 30 further. i checked out those 800hp rb30's. they got some expensive hypo hardware in them. they would be more expensive than an equaly powerful done up 26. the core cost might be more for a rb26 but once you turn up the power its cheaper because you don't have to change as many parts of the engine to deal with boost and cams and the parts are more common

  • rb30's last the longest sumtimes depends how well looked after they are i mena theres vl's that have done way over 200,000 and there still going strong my mate has one basically stock jsut exhuast and computer and bigger injectors and it beats a vx commodore

  • ive seen a daily driver vl with almost 500,000km and it is still runnin

  • don't bother with an RB30 they are shit, holden took them out of the commys for a reason. go RB26 with single turbo conversion its a bit more expensive but you can make over 1000hp in the end, you'll never get more than 450hp out of a rb30 and it wont last as long

  • you are quite right, holden didnt put the rb30 in the vns for a very important reason...the value of the japanese currency (yen) took a nose dive, and the rb30 was no longer an affordable option for holden. they moved to the 3.8ltr v6 buick motors which were origionally designed for front wheel drive cars. PS: the amount of power you can get out of an engine doesnt always depend on what you start with...

PPS: ever heard of putting either an RB25 or RB26 head on an RB30 block? quite a good result

  • To be fair the buick V6 was originally used by buick in a rear wheel drive configuration.

  • you can get over 800 hp out of a rb30 easy i think you better have a look a some of matook racings rb30 you will be suprised

  • Nice torana, got the same model myself, looking at an RB30DET conversion, for something a little different. :)

  • Heyyy i saw that torrie for sale like a year ago...round 7-10k or somethin...twin SU's and turbo...looked hot, looks like u can have some fun in it too, thats awesome, my 202 is gona be supercharged tho, but i still really do like turbo 202's also =D
