Very useful man. Just taking a look at reason and trying to get the hang of it. This was a nice first tut, very clear. Have subscribed and will be following.
Its an OK tutorial, actually yeah I think it is good that you don't tell the exact things to click so they have to think about it and remember easier later on (after they found out what to click). Such as the analog sequencer, I didnt know you needed to click the 1,2,3 etc for each instrument. when found I learnt :D
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE?!?! - Ok, i got reason 5 and when i make a combinator with a bass patch it plays fine. when i minimise that one and create another device/combinator no sound comes out of that one, anyone know how i fix this?
@manosman97 I don't have reason, but with any DAW software you have to route the audio to where you want it. Do you have a good sound card? Monitors? An interface module for instruments or dj stuff?Start by opening the preferences in both Reason and your OS system preferences, go to the audio section in your sys-pref and make sure it's connecting with Reason, and likewise in Reason's audio-routing section. Cheers.
@alanbananaman, that's the word I was looking for. Your s's and p's will sound awful without one. Still, this tutorial is great. I'm an FL Studio freak, and have only recently tried to experiment with Reason. I was totally lost but this tutorial helped greatly!
is a midi keyboard absolutely necessary to use reasons instruments? Can i just use the Midi pattern editor to make patterns? Obviously this guy uses his c keyboard... Wish i knew how, any tips thanks :)
Thanks a lot for posting this. Yours was was informative and helpful, thanks alot!
Dam ! i am new with this D: and my redrum thing says it plays but i cant listen any sound ): help plz? i have checked my laptop volume preferences and neither get a sound of the reason's vst ; but it plays any other right
@s11121sx You need to make sure you've got the devices' gains up and routed correctly in Reason dude. If you can't do that then you shouldn't be using this program lol Tip: COMMAND (Windows Button) + TAB will flip your racks in Reason and you can check the patching is all correct on their....
@oscarfc3s lmao stfu, all the people who gave you thumbs up have obviously never used reason before he was refering to techno kit which is a part of reason. I am all for referring to electronic music in their correct genre and saying "techno" pisses me off too. Next time you should actually be familiar with the subject you are talking about
@oscarfc3s, I own reason 5 and hes saying 'techno' because its the name of a patch for the drum machine dickhead, so i fucking hate it when people complain about shit they dont even know about FUKK!! SAY IT RIGHT. THANK YOU:) LOL
you don't need to have a MIDI Keyboard guys... i use my Computer Keyboard as a Midi Keyboard. but if you have Keyboard with a MIDI cable, just use it.. its awesome
Your intentions are great and what you say is right-on but your hardware is worthless. I put my speakers up quite a bit so I could hear you. You need a windscreen on the mic and some volume normalization. When you hit the synth I am glad I have expensive speakers or you would have blown them. As it stands you scared the shit out of me. Fix this crap or get it off here.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video.
I'm especially glad that you used the synthesizer manually. I don't have a midi controlling device, and so i'm trying to manage my way through this program as much as i can. Other tutorials haven't really explained how to do things the way you have.
