Now if they'd just throw the book on the pavement and show how you can pick it back up again and keep going... demonstrate how you cannot throw the kindle on pavement and still have your books! LOL! Show also how you cannot write thoughts in the margins or highlight passages in study materials.
So watching this until the ending, I found it amusing until it turned into an honest don't-convert-to-kindle video instead of a light-hearted joke about the irony of the "features" of kindle. The video points out how we don't want everything to go digital, and we should attempt to move to non-digital/not convert; examples given are books and a dictionary.
Ironic, much, that this was posted to Youtube?
Books were an advancement of technology. Digital media is as well. Just my thoughts.
Love the message of this. It pokes fun at the kindle ads without tearing into it and it points out some of the basic things about books and how people are pushing the so-called need for e-readers. You can still read, learn, and enjoy from real print and it has advantages that at the moment an e-reader does not have. At the moment, e-readers are made to look like a status item rather than something to actually help people learn and expand their minds which is sad if you think about it.
@battybuddy And they make better gifts. You can write a message to the receiver of the gift in the front, wrap them up, and present them in person. Much better than and email stating, "I got you an Amazon gift card."

@Depoetic2 Except that you can make notes (if not in 'margins'), and also highlight passages, on a Kindle.

@musosian Most precious possession I have is my Grandmother's Bible with her handwriting in the margins. Kindle will NEVER EVER replace books for me.

Friend - But kindle can hold 1000's of books!
Me - But you're really only going to read them one at a time right?
Friend - yeah but you have so many options!
Me - Of course, because setting a book down and picking up another one is to darn hard!
Friend - You're just being stupid! Besides Kindle Books don't cost anymore than normal books!
Me - Yeah but... You don't have to buy an expensive device to read books? You only need a book?
Friend - Whatever.
Me - ಠ_ಠ <The fuck is wrong with people?

A normal book?? You mean I actually have to get in my car and go get it! Forget it, Jersey Shore's on.

Good points. But using the OED on kindle is way easier than going to the place you keep your big heavy books.

I have a Kindle, but I only use it for books that are out of print or hard to find. (So I don't use it much.)

@GBev2K Yeah, that's a pretty good use for it. I've actually been wondering about getting one that's just a library for job related stuff.
