Sorry, the movie was garbage. All the talk in the world about symbolism and meaning won't help the fact it was a garbled mess. This clip is just further proof, a music video in the middle of the movie for no real reason? Call it clever if you like, I call it pretentious and pointless. I loved Donnie Darko, so don't call me a hater, and I also don't expect every movie to be the same, just better than this mess was.
The problem with Southland Tales is how it was marketed. It's the exact same problem Donnie Darko had. I do find it amazing this director's films get released in theatres. Regardless of what you may think of his movies they fail to make a profit. The studios lost money. He's making decent films that would be better served going direct to dvd where there's an actual chance for them to make money.

I think this was probably one of the best scenes in the movie. The movie is confusing for those who don't read up on the movie afterwards. But this is really a really cool scene I think.

lol, the smiley face... the way subliminals are used in movies today, it DEFINITELY is a Watchmen plug. Just read the book btw. Best comic I ever read, hopefully Kick Ass movie.

as far as im concerned, southland tales was the best film of 2006 2007, 2008, all the different times it was released. this scene is magnificent and unique, and richard kelly is a genius. people are pretty pathetic for not recognizing the brilliance of this film. oh well.
