It is actually a standard commuter train in New Mexico. The Shinkansen or Bullet Train is only in Japan.

Not exaclty a bullet train (I've ridden trains that are exactly like the one shown here :) Anyway, if he tried to stop, he most likely would've ended up stopping right in the midst of it, and it takes a long time to stop a train.
