i was told he designed it but took it to a metal shop to have it made for a sample then needed to get 100 orders to make it worth getting them made. a friend of mine was in on that first 100 order count. any way though good vid.

Y'all should check out the Emberlit stove.. 5 oz and packs down substantially smaller than this (ie, flat).

BTW, kudos to Joe for telling some of Devin's story. vevans1505 and Joe mention the stopper issues. Devin is improving the stopper in his forthcoming batch, and he's also offering a wick that will allow the stove to be used as an alcohol stove. If you're interested in rewarding the actual designer of this style of stove, the Backcountry Boiler is the way to go. The M-Kettle is a blatant rip-off of a stove-style that Devin Montgomery took years to perfect. His original version was known as the Montgomery Kettle, so M-Kettle even tried to profit from name association. Devin recognizes his influence by earlier double-walled kettles like the Kelly Kettle, but M-Kettle simply took Devin's design and made it in another material. Bad juju.

Very cool product, but it has the same problems as the Mkettle; i.e. - rubber stopper (at least flange the pour spout), price is way too much - too many alternatives for much less money. Finally, if I were to choose between the two, I would prefer the Mkettle as it is stainless steel and thus more durable, though oz to add up when you're backpacking. Love the kozy and the design, but wouldn't spend that much on one. Very cool that the guy learned on his own.
