Recent events on the Piranha forum has prompted me to make a post. Eagerly anticipating this game, I made a simple post on the forums asking if there would be a single player campaign. My post was deleted by admin without warning. I silently lurked for a few more days and witnessed admins deleting and banning anyone they deemed bad for PR. This just goes to show how players will be treated when this thing goes live. UNETHICAL. I say NO to this game. Very disappointing bastard company.
@AnontheOP i posted on the main website and had an answer within the day even from a staff member, you might want to try the actual website for "MechWarrior Online" so i don't know what your talking about. :/
This is a trailer to Mechwarrior 3015, a reboot of the Mechwarrior universe that Microsoft killed by being stingy bastards. The development team is instead working on Mechwarrior Online (Which is NOT this trailer) and you can find it at mwomercs (dot) com.
@CrazyMautty it was harmony gold iirc, not microsoft that sued them for use of the macross sourced mechs... (IE: warhammer which is directly inspired by macross spartan/tomahawk destroid)
incidentally only harmony gold ever made a fuss like a cat that got their tail stepped on over the use of the mechs design inspired from macross, the original owner of macross never seems to care about what they do with it.
@nstutt The online game is supposed to play like any other Mechwarrior game, just with an ever changing universe. From what I understand so far, you're supposed to be able to 'drop' with team mate in a Pilot versus Pilot (multiplayer) way, or launch 'missions' that are against AI opponents like the campaigns (hopefully with REAL team mates as well as AI).
@SpaceMilk07 No actually, Mechwarrior 3015 was going to be PC/360. There weren't any publishers willing to back it without a PS3 version though and Microsoft compromise to make a PS3 version, so it die and MW Online is being made.
To-wit; Prime has never been a direct reference term for IS mechs; their model number is mostly fixed, and variants were rare due to the logistics and engineering required to actually change them. They may have had their 'primary' model, or factory model, but never before the computer games did you see it referred to as a 'prime'. It was just it's name.

@NowanIlfideme Yeah but this is 3 years old, and this is no longer the game being developed. It switched from UDK to CryEngine3, and so a lot of this commentary is no longer accurate.
@MsGunMetal Five houses will fight each other for control of a number of planets, houses will have their own divisions within them established by players. Control of the planets gives the factions benefits like resources, weapons, and tech. The in game universe will continue to change hands, just like EVE Online. At least, that is my understanding. And I can't wait.
@MsGunMetal This is a 3-year old video, which morons keep reposting as though this is the game. This is not what the game is anymore, this is Mechwarrior:3015, which was scrapped and changed to Mechwarrior online. It switched from UDK to CryEngine3, so none of this footage or commentary is accurate.
@hippytimefunbox Agreed, I've been following the MW:3015 news since BEFORE this video even came out when it was still just a heavy handed rumor. It pisses me off that people hear about MW: Online, find this trailer, and then rave about it being SO AWESOME... Yes, it WOULD HAVE been awesome if Microsoft hadn't screwed it over and kept a tight restriction that it wouldn't see a PS3 version, which is why 3015 DIED. Now our only hope is MW: Online, hopefully it is good as F2P.
@gainpro Mechwarrior 3015 (because of today's market) was going to be a PC and 360 game, publishers didn't want to back it because of the lack of a PS3 version as well.
@CrazyMautty don't care about what you say because you need to learn some english (back it? what can that possibly mean with what you just said? back it up? back it down? back it around town? back it in the alley? back it upside down? sex?? complete your damn sentence son i ain't no psychic foo!), all i know is fuck the consoles! so then fuck you!
@MageryGuy ...I'm pretty sure that Microsoft still owns the Mechwarrior IP and that its being leased to Smith & Tinker to develop a new game.
This also explains why Mechwarrior 3015 (I think i got that right O.o) died because Microsoft strictly disallowed the making of a PS3 version, which led to publishers not wanting to back it. Hence we now have Mechwarrior Online.
@hippytimefunbox they dont just acknowledge that udk has bigger power and more options that cryengine... so sad to see them having a lack of knowledge about engines
@Sauron767 Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
Still the same footage we've been seeing for years. Hopefully it's truly looking to go live. Allot of people still not very sure that footage is truly in game either. But here's to hoping. Looked like allot of things were re drawn since this vid.
@MaximilliusBonerhard more than likely they'll have a free list of mechs you can use (weekly or maybe just in general) and they'll have 2 different forms of payments. you can use ingame money which you earn from winning/losing games or completing goals, or you can use real money to pay for these things.
So the game originally announced to be developed as 'Mechwarrior' became 'Mechwarrior Online' at some point. I thought the project was dead. It was difficult to find out they are one and same, I only noticed it from the video now.
What are assault and heavy mechs doing in a city? why would they stand so close to each other when they know about stuff like core breeches? How is it that LRMs are really effective at close range, I thought they were made for long range? (I thought they were launched upwards or something)
To add to it, I don't know why the PPCs missed twice — how terrible does technology have to be to miss twice in a row at point blank range?
@mikeymike4g63 that doesn't satisfy the problem for two reasons:
• Recoil occurs immediately after firing. The shot should not significantly change trajectories. If recoil affected accuracy on single shots then all guns and tanks and other cannons would be pretty useless.
• Even if somehow the loss of accuracy could be caused by recoil, with current technology, let alone futuristic, it would be easy to predict how the recoil will affect the shot, and adjust targeting accordingly.
@MsHojat Do you think first shots are free of recoil or something? You don't seem to understand classical mechanics and kinetics here. It's a beam not a projectile. This means it emits for a time frame, not expelled as a projectile. Think firehose. As the ppc is emitting, the weapon will recoil. This force is very high and recoil occurs before the beam even leaves the tube, much less 5 feet out. You could benefit from watching some slow motion videos of real life things like firearms.
@MsHojat I know that this is in-game footage and such is limited by the engine but you could also posit that there is a lot of recoil compensation going on if you watch the arm at 4:00 the arm actually pitches upward as the beam is fired which is the opposite direction that the arm would pitch if it was un-compensated for recoil. Despite that, the recoil forces are still incredibly apparent further indicating ppc cannons have lots of recoil upon firing.
@MsHojat I think the first PPC missed because of the impact from the Atlas' Autocannon. The second one may have been the same. The Atlas appears to fire the AC just before both errant PPC shots.
@overkill1340 yeah I sorta thought so too... but what are the odds it would happen twice in a row? seems already unlikely to happen even once. I think the narrator even mentions that a blast is what causes it to miss (at least the first one). Could just be a fluke I suppose.
so since i'm out of the loop, i know they were making it for the consoles, but are they still going to release it on consoles or is it strictly a PC game now? O.o
this is especially because of the F2P style, it's effectively impossible to work out on console as they do not support the F2P style on the console as it is given the way the game works and how console companies control the games allowed on their consoles.
The same way why none of the F2P games you see on PC will ever come out on console for now.
@madcat789 Yes, Wolfs Dragoons did come much sooner, 3005 in fact. And though many people think it was Clan Wolf that sent them, it was more a joint opperation with Freeborns from Ghost Bear and Wolf. The name came from the two commanders of the mission, Jaime Wolf and Joshua Wolf (Both from Clan Ghost Bear). While in the IS, Jamie Wolf sent another Clan Freeborn, Cranston Snord, to try and find hidden Star League storage depots and tech. but thats another story :)
@madcat789 I always loved the Griffen but the Battlemaster was the one i played most. This was back when it was Cardboad cut-outs too! We had like 30 guys who played on my base (USAF Castle AFB). I eventually had some stuff published by FASA and had a lot of fun with them till they fell apart. If you ever bought the paper buildings that were used on the hex map, that was mine :) A friend, Gaff Sheperd, and I did the first 25mm models too for a Con we went too.
@BadBunnyRides So those where YOUR paper buildings? Not to bad. I personally piloted an Axman but with some updated features: Two large Pulse Lasers, a few less jump jets to jump 90 meters. Two Thunderbolt-15s and a few tons of ammo for a longer fight. The Pulse Lasers are for once I'm out of ammo. My friends used either Stingers, Wasps, one of them used an Assassin and my sister used a Banshee. My neighbor used a Battlemaster, but took out the PPC for an AC/10.
@madcat789 Good choice on the PPC-AC/10 swap, less heat - same damage. Got me thinking fondly of all those late nights we used to play BT in the dorm commons area. Good times, great battles lol
@BadBunnyRides True true, but then again he used Precise rounds in his Autocannon so slightly better accuracy in my opinion. Ah, memories. My friend of the same mech also used a Dragon, but took out the AC or, depending on the Variant, PPC and replaced them with a flamer, making it an "Actual Dragon", in his opinion. The saved tonnaged let him place two SRM-2s and extra armor.
Why is no one thinking that this could be FREAKIN' CAMPAIGN!!! You know in campaign you can have multiple story lines and stuff -_- showing multiple stories in the game. Why does everyone think when they see a date they immediately think the ENTIRE game plays in that date of time... GEEZ!!! xD
Guys, according to the dev's site mwomercs com/support#faq
The timeline will be somewhere around during MW 2 Mercenaries 3044-3052. Quick recap of that time period:
3039-3040 - Federated Commonwealth attack the Draconis Combine
3049 - While the Inner Sphere battles between themselves, the Clans, a militaristic society descended from Gen. Alexander Kerensky, have returned to claim the Inner Sphere. Clans Smoke Jaguar, Ghost Bear, Jade Falcon and Wolf are the initial invaders.
Guys this a CINEMATIC TRAILER, i saw this long time ago on youtube, it never says its made of IN GAME content. Meaning this may not have anything to do with the game itself.
@StinkingOne actually the vid clearly puts it right on the video itself with the label 'in game footage'
and not really surprising, given our current graphics tech... the visual is not that impressive at all, what's impressive is the detail and the motion and response.
@leekimlanuza No announce date just yet, but Piranha Games has been releasing picture pieces via Twitter over the past few days which would seem to indicate a timeframe reveal is imminent! Check out Bryan Ekman's blog at bryanekman. com for info.
@Guffrus On the paper/ tabletop game, machineguns seem foolish. But the video version is more like the Solaris dueling rules with recharge/ reload times. The PPC takes 3 seconds down time for every 1 it shoots, while the MG fires constantly. And in the virtual pods at Dave & Busters, the battlemech with 12 MGs is a nightmare to fight. It's weapons fire constantly and blind the fuck out of you, a tremendous advantage on ANY battlefield.
@DSAAsh I'm looking forward to it too, but FYI Wolf's Dragoons arrived in the Inner Sphere in 3005 and had already built quite a reputation and worked for 2 of the Successor States by 3015. If memory serves me correctly, in 3015 they had been working for the Free Worlds League until the murder of Joshua Wolf left Jaime Wolf as sole commander. Pre-Clan Invasion was an interesting time to be a MechWarrior ...
Continued... Personally I love both Macross and Battletech, and if Harmony Gold are going to be dicks about it (which they are since the do nothing with the designs and nothing to develop the original series, and The Shadow Chronicles their most recent Robotech series continues not to use them), then MW5 should just keep the designs and just alter them, just enough so that they can't be claimed to be the same.
what bugs me is that this whole legal issue could have been averted. Weisman KNOWS that the Warhammer was contested in a copyright claim. If the design is still in a legal grey area just use another design. Yes, I think the copyright claim is asinine but thats the kind of crap we get when we allow attorneys to run just about everything we derive pleasure from. Copyright is allowed for a LIMITED time to let the creator make some cash from it. But NOT forever.
@DSAAsh I agree, but I still hope that later on, an option to enable Clan Mechs/Tech for multiplayer will be available. I want to have my Timber Wolf this beautiful. MW4:Mercs won't cut it anymore.
Always important in the Mech series is the experience. I know they're just using some stock music and sounds right now but bring back composer Duane Decker, make movie-quality sound effects. Get good voice actors, not just the same boring 20 year olds who voice all the shooter war games. As well, the story should drive it home.
My problem with this video is that it's all so sluggish. I realize they're trying to make the mechs feel like they actually are these huge machines, but in this case it seems like the game is going to move at a glacial pace.
Two encounters took place on a single road, between two buildings. Visuals are nice, though.
Also, this project is currently dead in the water for two years, so far?
OMG...I just ran across this and am completely blown away...I started playing the MechWarrior series from the very beginning...wayyyyyy back when. Can't wait to see this again, love this game.
anyone that ever designed a mech stacked it with medium lasers linked to a targetting computer and loads of heat sinks because the game was never balanced.
So good news that weapons and mech classes are being totally redone to make it all interestin and viable.. lol machines = no range, no damage + massive risk of ammo explosion, no thanks
Many people will be lost without their double heat sinks, ER PPCs, and XL engines and will have to get used to mechs that pack a few "inferior" weapons and less armor and speed than their Star League/post-3050 counterparts.
In other words, they will need to learn to play smartly instead of just letting their equipment play for them.
The stupid fucking anime rights holders for some stupid ass manga or show or whatever are saying that they stole designs from their stupid ass manga's or shit or whatever, who the fuck says they own the rights to mech designs? Did they invent mechs? Their just trying to cash in on Mechwarrior's success because of how of a fail their own shitty products are.
@bud389 Actually, the original battletech books did have art that was stolen from macross. The warhammer mech was a destroid from macross, and the phoenix hawk not only stole the art but also specified it was "a mech that turned into a plane". If you check out the drawings, you will even note that they failed to remove the U.N. Spacy emblems off the art they stole.
@grimmwold What mechs from warhammer are you talking about? theres tons of different mechs, and the Space Marine Dreadnought was an original design. The only "mech" i can see being similar to the one you're describing are the Tau Battlesuit's, which have a completely different emblem, if your seeing the U.N. Spacey emblem, someone probably painted it onto theirs (since if you knew anything about warhammer, you'd know the models are built and then painted/customized by the buyer).
@hippytimefunbox the original warhammer design looks almost nothing like the "destroid", it had completely different cockpit and leg designs, the only "similarity" are the twin weapon cannons and the shoulder launcher. Only now is it starting to resemble that. But while were on the subject of "warhammer", they practically stole the design of the Alien for tyranids, and transformers had shit stolen by GoBots. Everything is always stolen, and crying about a single inspired design is just stupid.
@bud389 Seriously they are the same mech, macross was around before battletec. They also took the rifleman design and the maruader design (which is apparently some blokes battle pod in macross). I get you, I was very dissapointed when I found out after awesome mechwarrior 2 was :P But they actually did sign a deal a long time ago that allowed them to use those designs, but then it was only valid in certain countries and the companies were switching hands and such, and the whole thing went crazy.
@bud389 *Timber wolf, or are you an inner sphere fool too :D But yeah, they were probably the most iconic and original of the mechwarrior creations, though I like the blood asp more.
@bud389 So If I took a Gundam or an Evangelion and used them in my own game, and slightly altered one or two things, I shouldn't be sued for blatantly ripping of another franchise's property? No, Macross didn't "invent" mechs, they have designs that THEY made and they have the copyrights to those designs. Compare the Zentraedi Officer's Battle Pod to the "Unseen" Marauder mech from BattleTech. As deep as my love for Battletech is, they screwed up.
@bud389 Doesn't make it right. Mind: The Unseen Mechs are freakin' awesome, you won't get an argument from me there. But they DID steal the property of another franchise, and they did get caught and rightfully sued for it. We can all get angry when the team we root for gets in hot water, or we can accept that they were at fault, and they didn't get away with it, even if others have.
@BattleGroupOmega FASA actually bought the rights to the Studio Nue designs soon after starting if not at the beginning, from said studio. In fact, their relationship with them was so positive that Studio Nue even took a number of their own designs and overhauled them for Battletech in Japan and later back here in the U.S.
Likewise, content from other studios was either licensed around the same time or at least later, thus why all but the Macross Unseen have made a return to CBT.
The legal troubles come from Harmony Gold's stranglehold over Macross content over here in the States but their actual rights to the series and its designs have come under fire (in both in how they were acquired and their application of those rights, such as the mishmash of content that is Robotech). It's also why Macross content struggles to make its way over here, and most that does ends up rebranded to the detriment of the companies that produced it.
@bud389 If I own the rights to a piece of artwork, and someone stole it without my permission and then proceeded to make money off of MY design, hell yes I would sue, and I would be right to do so. Also, just because you hate anime doesn't mean that they are in the wrong, fuckhead. Their products still sell more than this series and they need NO help in making money in the international market. Battletech needed help in the early days so they stole designs, and now they are suffering for it.
@serodin007 lol, no, their products don't sell more then the mechwarrior series, which is the cheif reason more people have heard of Mechwarrior then the stupid fucking anime, so shut your stupid fucking mouth you little twat.
You really should look into the problem before making a comment on it. The company that's suing isn't the creators of the mechs in question, Harmony Gold is a company that paid for the rights to use Anime from the company that created Macross (Studio Nue), that re-dubbed it with their own English story that differs from the original Japanese plot. FASA had gotten the rights to use the mechs from Studio Nue. Harmony Gold sued because they claimed exclusive rights in America.
Earlier today (9Sep09), IGN and its parent company were issued a cease and desist order from Harmony Gold, the co-copyright owner of the television series Robotech. The letter claims that the use of certain trademarked figures from the Robotech/Macross universe are prohibited as a result of a prior settlement that dates back to 1996. (The is more, just google mechwarrior release date 2011)

@MaximilliusBonerhard more than likely they'll have a free list of mechs you can use (weekly or maybe just in general) and they'll have 2 different forms of payments. you can use ingame money which you earn from winning/losing games or completing goals, or you can use real money to pay for these things.
vennominon22 2 months ago
So the game originally announced to be developed as 'Mechwarrior' became 'Mechwarrior Online' at some point. I thought the project was dead. It was difficult to find out they are one and same, I only noticed it from the video now.
Teppo459 2 months ago
What are assault and heavy mechs doing in a city? why would they stand so close to each other when they know about stuff like core breeches? How is it that LRMs are really effective at close range, I thought they were made for long range? (I thought they were launched upwards or something)
To add to it, I don't know why the PPCs missed twice — how terrible does technology have to be to miss twice in a row at point blank range?
MsHojat 2 months ago
@MsHojat PPC cannons have recoil. They emit particles. Thus it is not only an energy weapon but a kinetic one as well.
mikeymike4g63 2 months ago
@mikeymike4g63 that doesn't satisfy the problem for two reasons:
• Recoil occurs immediately after firing. The shot should not significantly change trajectories. If recoil affected accuracy on single shots then all guns and tanks and other cannons would be pretty useless.
• Even if somehow the loss of accuracy could be caused by recoil, with current technology, let alone futuristic, it would be easy to predict how the recoil will affect the shot, and adjust targeting accordingly.
MsHojat 2 months ago
@MsHojat Do you think first shots are free of recoil or something? You don't seem to understand classical mechanics and kinetics here. It's a beam not a projectile. This means it emits for a time frame, not expelled as a projectile. Think firehose. As the ppc is emitting, the weapon will recoil. This force is very high and recoil occurs before the beam even leaves the tube, much less 5 feet out. You could benefit from watching some slow motion videos of real life things like firearms.
mikeymike4g63 2 months ago
@mikeymike4g63 No, it seems to be because the mech gets struck by impacts from being hit by the Atlas's weapons.
TheGovinda777 2 months ago
@MsHojat I know that this is in-game footage and such is limited by the engine but you could also posit that there is a lot of recoil compensation going on if you watch the arm at 4:00 the arm actually pitches upward as the beam is fired which is the opposite direction that the arm would pitch if it was un-compensated for recoil. Despite that, the recoil forces are still incredibly apparent further indicating ppc cannons have lots of recoil upon firing.
mikeymike4g63 2 months ago
@MsHojat I think the first PPC missed because of the impact from the Atlas' Autocannon. The second one may have been the same. The Atlas appears to fire the AC just before both errant PPC shots.
overkill1340 2 months ago
@overkill1340 yeah I sorta thought so too... but what are the odds it would happen twice in a row? seems already unlikely to happen even once. I think the narrator even mentions that a blast is what causes it to miss (at least the first one). Could just be a fluke I suppose.
MsHojat 2 months ago
Streak LRM from the Atlas? :| what.

the change in the name is news to me XP
so since i'm out of the loop, i know they were making it for the consoles, but are they still going to release it on consoles or is it strictly a PC game now? O.o
theyellowjesters 2 months ago
@theyellowjesters It's strictly PC game for now,
this is especially because of the F2P style, it's effectively impossible to work out on console as they do not support the F2P style on the console as it is given the way the game works and how console companies control the games allowed on their consoles.
The same way why none of the F2P games you see on PC will ever come out on console for now.

madcat789 3 months ago
@madcat789 Yes, Wolfs Dragoons did come much sooner, 3005 in fact. And though many people think it was Clan Wolf that sent them, it was more a joint opperation with Freeborns from Ghost Bear and Wolf. The name came from the two commanders of the mission, Jaime Wolf and Joshua Wolf (Both from Clan Ghost Bear). While in the IS, Jamie Wolf sent another Clan Freeborn, Cranston Snord, to try and find hidden Star League storage depots and tech. but thats another story :)
BadBunnyRides 3 months ago
@BadBunnyRides
Jamie wolf...ah, such a wonderful pilot. An Archer till the end with Wayne Waco and his battlemaster. What was your mech? Tabletop-wise
madcat789 3 months ago
@madcat789 I always loved the Griffen but the Battlemaster was the one i played most. This was back when it was Cardboad cut-outs too! We had like 30 guys who played on my base (USAF Castle AFB). I eventually had some stuff published by FASA and had a lot of fun with them till they fell apart. If you ever bought the paper buildings that were used on the hex map, that was mine :) A friend, Gaff Sheperd, and I did the first 25mm models too for a Con we went too.
BadBunnyRides 3 months ago
@BadBunnyRides So those where YOUR paper buildings? Not to bad. I personally piloted an Axman but with some updated features: Two large Pulse Lasers, a few less jump jets to jump 90 meters. Two Thunderbolt-15s and a few tons of ammo for a longer fight. The Pulse Lasers are for once I'm out of ammo. My friends used either Stingers, Wasps, one of them used an Assassin and my sister used a Banshee. My neighbor used a Battlemaster, but took out the PPC for an AC/10.
madcat789 3 months ago
@madcat789 Good choice on the PPC-AC/10 swap, less heat - same damage. Got me thinking fondly of all those late nights we used to play BT in the dorm commons area. Good times, great battles lol
BadBunnyRides 3 months ago
@BadBunnyRides True true, but then again he used Precise rounds in his Autocannon so slightly better accuracy in my opinion. Ah, memories. My friend of the same mech also used a Dragon, but took out the AC or, depending on the Variant, PPC and replaced them with a flamer, making it an "Actual Dragon", in his opinion. The saved tonnaged let him place two SRM-2s and extra armor.

R3leaZ 3 months ago
Guys, according to the dev's site mwomercs com/support#faq
The timeline will be somewhere around during MW 2 Mercenaries 3044-3052. Quick recap of that time period:
3039-3040 - Federated Commonwealth attack the Draconis Combine
3049 - While the Inner Sphere battles between themselves, the Clans, a militaristic society descended from Gen. Alexander Kerensky, have returned to claim the Inner Sphere. Clans Smoke Jaguar, Ghost Bear, Jade Falcon and Wolf are the initial invaders.

@StinkingOne actually the vid clearly puts it right on the video itself with the label 'in game footage'
and not really surprising, given our current graphics tech... the visual is not that impressive at all, what's impressive is the detail and the motion and response.

It's weapons fire constantly and blind the fuck out of you, a tremendous advantage on ANY battlefield.
hellojimperry 5 months ago
@DSAAsh I'm looking forward to it too, but FYI Wolf's Dragoons arrived in the Inner Sphere in 3005 and had already built quite a reputation and worked for 2 of the Successor States by 3015. If memory serves me correctly, in 3015 they had been working for the Free Worlds League until the murder of Joshua Wolf left Jaime Wolf as sole commander. Pre-Clan Invasion was an interesting time to be a MechWarrior ...
hellojimperry 5 months ago
Continued... Personally I love both Macross and Battletech, and if Harmony Gold are going to be dicks about it (which they are since the do nothing with the designs and nothing to develop the original series, and The Shadow Chronicles their most recent Robotech series continues not to use them), then MW5 should just keep the designs and just alter them, just enough so that they can't be claimed to be the same.
Monsoon28 5 months ago
what bugs me is that this whole legal issue could have been averted.
Wickedashtray 5 months ago
@DSAAsh I agree, but I still hope that later on, an option to enable Clan Mechs/Tech for multiplayer will be available. I want to have my Timber Wolf this beautiful. MW4:Mercs won't cut it anymore.

Always important in the Mech series is the experience. I know they're just using some stock music and sounds right now but bring back composer Duane Decker, make movie-quality sound effects. Get good voice actors, not just the same boring 20 year olds who voice all the shooter war games. As well, the story should drive it home.
fluidicmethod 6 months ago
My problem with this video is that it's all so sluggish. I realize they're trying to make the mechs feel like they actually are these huge machines, but in this case it seems like the game is going to move at a glacial pace.
Two encounters took place on a single road, between two buildings. Visuals are nice, though.
Also, this project is currently dead in the water for two years, so far?

anyone that ever designed a mech stacked it with medium lasers linked to a targetting computer and loads of heat sinks because the game was never balanced.
So good news that weapons and mech classes are being totally redone to make it all interestin and viable.. lol machines = no range, no damage + massive risk of ammo explosion, no thanks

Caradepato2 8 months ago
Many people will be lost without their double heat sinks, ER PPCs, and XL engines and will have to get used to mechs that pack a few "inferior" weapons and less armor and speed than their Star League/post-3050 counterparts.
In other words, they will need to learn to play smartly instead of just letting their equipment play for them.
jervin8r 8 months ago
The stupid fucking anime rights holders for some stupid ass manga or show or whatever are saying that they stole designs from their stupid ass manga's or shit or whatever, who the fuck says they own the rights to mech designs? Did they invent mechs? Their just trying to cash in on Mechwarrior's success because of how of a fail their own shitty products are.
bud389 9 months ago
@bud389 Actually, the original battletech books did have art that was stolen from macross. The warhammer mech was a destroid from macross, and the phoenix hawk not only stole the art but also specified it was "a mech that turned into a plane". If you check out the drawings, you will even note that they failed to remove the U.N. Spacy emblems off the art they stole.
grimmwold 8 months ago
@grimmwold What mechs from warhammer are you talking about? theres tons of different mechs, and the Space Marine Dreadnought was an original design. The only "mech" i can see being similar to the one you're describing are the Tau Battlesuit's, which have a completely different emblem, if your seeing the U.N. Spacey emblem, someone probably painted it onto theirs (since if you knew anything about warhammer, you'd know the models are built and then painted/customized by the buyer).
bud389 8 months ago
@bud389 The mech is called a Warhammer, it's taken from macross, not form the warhammer series.
hippytimefunbox 8 months ago
@hippytimefunbox the original warhammer design looks almost nothing like the "destroid", it had completely different cockpit and leg designs, the only "similarity" are the twin weapon cannons and the shoulder launcher. Only now is it starting to resemble that. But while were on the subject of "warhammer", they practically stole the design of the Alien for tyranids, and transformers had shit stolen by GoBots. Everything is always stolen, and crying about a single inspired design is just stupid.
bud389 8 months ago
@bud389 Seriously they are the same mech, macross was around before battletec. They also took the rifleman design and the maruader design (which is apparently some blokes battle pod in macross). I get you, I was very dissapointed when I found out after awesome mechwarrior 2 was :P But they actually did sign a deal a long time ago that allowed them to use those designs, but then it was only valid in certain countries and the companies were switching hands and such, and the whole thing went crazy.
hippytimefunbox 8 months ago
@hippytimefunbox Mad Cats... That's all i gots ta say.
bud389 8 months ago
@bud389 *Timber wolf, or are you an inner sphere fool too :D But yeah, they were probably the most iconic and original of the mechwarrior creations, though I like the blood asp more.
hippytimefunbox 8 months ago
@bud389 So If I took a Gundam or an Evangelion and used them in my own game, and slightly altered one or two things, I shouldn't be sued for blatantly ripping of another franchise's property? No, Macross didn't "invent" mechs, they have designs that THEY made and they have the copyrights to those designs. Compare the Zentraedi Officer's Battle Pod to the "Unseen" Marauder mech from BattleTech. As deep as my love for Battletech is, they screwed up.
BattleGroupOmega 8 months ago
@BattleGroupOmega Gobots did it, Planet Hollywood did it.
bud389 8 months ago
@bud389 Doesn't make it right. Mind: The Unseen Mechs are freakin' awesome, you won't get an argument from me there. But they DID steal the property of another franchise, and they did get caught and rightfully sued for it. We can all get angry when the team we root for gets in hot water, or we can accept that they were at fault, and they didn't get away with it, even if others have.
BattleGroupOmega 8 months ago
@BattleGroupOmega Nah, i think i'll root for the team, since they took an idea and actually put it into something that was good.
bud389 8 months ago 8
@BattleGroupOmega FASA actually bought the rights to the Studio Nue designs soon after starting if not at the beginning, from said studio. In fact, their relationship with them was so positive that Studio Nue even took a number of their own designs and overhauled them for Battletech in Japan and later back here in the U.S.
Likewise, content from other studios was either licensed around the same time or at least later, thus why all but the Macross Unseen have made a return to CBT.
Zakerii 6 months ago
@BattleGroupOmega
Zakerii 6 months ago
@bud389 If I own the rights to a piece of artwork, and someone stole it without my permission and then proceeded to make money off of MY design, hell yes I would sue, and I would be right to do so. Also, just because you hate anime doesn't mean that they are in the wrong, fuckhead. Their products still sell more than this series and they need NO help in making money in the international market. Battletech needed help in the early days so they stole designs, and now they are suffering for it.
serodin007 6 months ago
@serodin007 lol, no, their products don't sell more then the mechwarrior series, which is the cheif reason more people have heard of Mechwarrior then the stupid fucking anime, so shut your stupid fucking mouth you little twat.
bud389 6 months ago
@serodin007 With all due respect...
Fuck. You.
IamRayzor1995 6 months ago
@serodin007
