Yep, its actually a reverse-in-joke - this was the final boss music... of the RPG. At which point the whole game suddenly turns into a Thunderforce tribute (with the final final boss music being the third part of the Justice Ray series!).
TFVI paid back the effort by using this not-final-boss music for their own final-boss-that-isn't (and the penultimate boss to boot!) with the added bonus that in a homage to earlier games you were fighting Orn Mechs (thankfully not the uber-version from TFIV!)
ok, now this may sound weird, but about 23 seconds in, I heard the Half-Life flashlight on/off sound. Swear to god! Listen carefully, it is the weirdest-ass thing!
This was also used in a game called Segagaga as one of the last boss themes.

It sounds more like a mix of Youmu's theme from Perfect Cherry Blossom and Mortal Kombat!
