I have a question. You may know. I recorded a video while I was listening to a cover song song by a friend of mine. basically it was playing in the background while I recorded my video, so the audio is only one stream. Can I still edit the song out that was playing and keep my voice in? If it's two streams, that would be easy enough, but it's not.

Highlight the video you want to remove the sound from. Press U (This UNGROUPS it). Now you can drag away the audio and delete/move it

Isnt it possible to just select the audio with your mouse and hit delete?

I've been trying to achieve this feat but am unable to. Not even in the trimmer, I can get my self to select the portion of audio I want to delete, but when I press delete, nothing happens.

Is splitting really the only way to do this?

when your video gets ported into sony, it has seperate layers (Video & Audio), another idea is to cut the part you want out and mute it

I found out: audio and video form one group. You have to remove the adio from the group to edit it apart.

Actually, Sony vegas used to be just a pure audio editor. It wasn't until later that they decided to make it a video editing program also.
