I agree with James Robinson that we must maintain non-partisan career lawyers in the Justice Dept., but I disagree with his assumption that the law can be anything other than political. Politics is the bread and butter of law. Jurists and journalists profess their neutrality or political independent, but in so doing, the betray either confusion or deception. One can be non-partisan, but one cannot be apolitical.
