1) In Tibet we practiced a unique form of Buddhism stressing "others" first, and materialism was not a priority. MAO's stupid policies caused the death of millions in China. His stupid insistence that Tibetans stop growing Barley and grow wheat instead and other dumb agricultural ideas caused a massive famine in Tibet and thousands of Tibetans starved to death. Cultural revolution was more than a mistake. It did unthinkable damage to my country and my people.

International law does not require other countries to recognize Tibetan independence in order for Tibet to be independent. Independence can arise as a result of implication in terms of actions. Treaties with others, attributes like our own stamps, monetary system, small army, distinct language and script that is nothing like Chinese.

Of course he was afraid, afraid for his people as well, as thousands arrived at the Potala fearing for his life. DL never confirmed the 17 point agreement and in fact, rejected it and everything the Chinese ever did in Tibet. He tried to work with the invaders for the sake of his people because the Tibetans were peaceful they had no real way of defending themselves. Chinese had thousands and thousands of troops in Tibet, just like today they have hundreds of thousands. You are insane!

What China gouvernment did to Tibet needs everyone to research, what the real history of Tibet and Tibet people previous life was needs us to study the history, not the media. Westerners know about China only from their media, is this balanced? While most Chinese youth nowadays can hear and do research from inside and outside China in English via Internet for example. Do not be taken advantaged or fooled by any politicians, but study the truth! If you can, go to Tibet and see!

I don't think CCP is able to confiscates all videos. It is too easy to take the picture and video on the cellphone any where and can be send any time.
CCP can't block video footage of millions of western / Chinese travelers in Tibet.
Also it is very so easy to put up a live camera on top of the roof and start live broad casting to the rest of the internet world.

There have been no foreign travel permits issued for more than two months. CCP has censory controls on media outlets in the mainland and has internet censorship. Even in HK, you do not get the whole story of Tibet coming out.

Lhasa has been slowly opening up for travelers since late April. Foreign news agencies are expecting torch to reach XiZang later this month.
Last Foreign reporter left on March 19th? and now it is only May 6th, not 2 months yet.

I live in Hong Kong and travel in China. I had been planning to travel there around now, but foreigners are not being granted entry permits from anywhere that I'm aware of. However, you are right about the dates, it just seems like this whole debacle has lasted longer.

Just read on the news portal. The XiZang is heating up for travelers and ready for foreign travelers by mid or end of June. Guess need to be a little bit more patient. The travel business is still recovering.

很多人拿奥西林匹克做文章，我觉得会有一些选手甚至后在北京捣乱，希望祖国能提前做好准备，有的选手们甚至有一些特别节目。
他们把奥运会搞得不能举行了，还不是做坏的，我觉得法轮功，新唐人电视台，还有一些心怀不轨的人，肯定会混水摸鱼，能把这些人一网打尽最好了，若他们能闹出什么事情的话，就很难说了。

浏览欧洲的消息，一肚子火，跟那些欧洲人理论，他们很不讲道理。给他们看这样的视频，他们也还是觉得，所有的错还是在中国警察一方，Dalai Lama组织怎么做都有道理，杀人放火也无所谓。
我希望每个中国人，能够团结起来，努力学习，发展我们的祖国，其实在欧洲公司里工作，读书，有时候真的怄气，就是祖国总是受人欺负，祖国没了，相信我们也更会受到排斥。
90%以上的欧洲人觉得西藏不是中国的，甚至还把历史书拿出来给我们看，目的就只有一个，希望中国从此衰败，把中国搞乱，起哄，投机，甚至一些投机的政治家，还会煽风点火，我当然不知道将什么后果。
作为一个中国人，我希望我们能够认识这些人的用心。我在国外呆过一段时间，觉得中国人在外面不够团结，不过我想这也是个机会我们该团结了，没有国哪有家，那有尊重？
我希望自己的祖国能够撑过这一关又一关，还有太多的挑战，我们中国人是很聪明的，但不代表他们外国人就没有别有用心。很多人士持一种观望的态度，从中投机，祝愿我们的祖国万岁。

在网上浏览了很长时间，时候也不早了，明早还要赶回国的飞机。在国外看新闻，真是越看越气，越气又越想看:-),人家老外咬住我们人权问题，的确也是我们的软肋，当然对于哒赖其人，咋也就不多说了，人还是不要忘本的好。所谓一方水土养一方人，家里再有矛盾，在危难之时我们总会团结在一起，谁叫咋是中国人呢。在老外的论坛里跳出几个汉字感觉也真不错:-), 为什么不呢？哪天他们能看懂，说明我们的国力已经真正开始让他们感到敬畏了。和美国人一起工作过就知道了，他们大都待事严谨，富有创造力，我想这也是这个国家之所以强大的一个基本原因。而且外企提倡challege, 经常被人challege有时会让你感觉很不舒服，但从长远来讲可以让你始终保持清醒地头脑，借这次机会国人也可以适当锻炼一下。总之，调整情绪，努力工作，祝北京好运（虽然我是个上海人，在北京时还不敢轻易曝露身份:-))。西藏第一次并入元朝版图的那一天，有见过哪个西方人出来喊free的吗？要的就是这种感觉。

Yes, I admit that the Chinese government has done a lot of shameful things in the past. What government hasn't? On this particular issue, however, people all over the world do in fact blame China and believe the biased media. You know what, I don't intend to waste my time trying to change your beliefs, cause it would be dumb to debate over an issue where your opponent is totally ignorant, but I'm just voicing what I think is right and what I think is fair.

the pictures of tibetans being beaten or from the kathmandu incident, so are some of the videos, you can see a photographer in the kathmandu video taking pictures without being stopped by the nepalese police which is odd?
