  • I want Rita's dress at 3:40 too!!!

  • RH was a woman ahead of her time.

  • This is my favorite scene from this movie.. I remember watching it everytime it would air on TCM just to see this scene..The fashion show from the orginal "the women" is also very cool.. I love seeing classic styles as portrayed from their era.

  • The hottest model? Dusty Anderson (Farm Journal), IMHO.

  • My names Rita. :)

  • Can someone tell me why nowadays, the women are not that glamorous anymore? I mean...back then..women were women and they were not afraid to show they were women! Now..looks like they are hiding in baggy clothes, ripped jeans..they don't really care about being women and recognized as one! I am 53 years old, but I would never go shopping without wearing appropriate clothes...nothing fancy but nice and neat. When I go out in the evening, I like to wear nice clothes.Be a woman. See what I mean?

  • @zefrenchgirl

I agree. Women then compared to now--NO comparison. The women back then looked GORGEOUS

  • @ugha323a A dear friend died of cancer last December and he taught me a lot about this era.He asked me to let my hair grow in order to look more feminine. I did and people say that I look great with longer hair.Bobby, my friend was gay but he was my soul mate.He was a GREAT man. Women back then knew how to dress themselves and many of them had stronger moral value then some women now.

  • @zefrenchgirl

I am glad your friend did that for you, he must have loved you.

I am in show biz, so you can imagine many men, (gay) that always help me look good when I perform on bigger stages.

    God Bless you.

And, yes, women back then loved their prettiness, sensuality, feminine mystique :D

  • @ugha323a He loved me as much as I loved him.I cry when I listen to some of our favorite tunes.I miss him so much! He was gay, but he asked me to marry him,how sweet.I met Bobby on Youtube 2 years ago. Before he died from mouth cancer,I made him a promise to never ever meet someone else on Youtube. I will keep my promise because my love for him has no limit. He was the man I looked for all my life.I hope you will understand that this is my last note to you, even if I feel we could be good friends.

  • @ugha323a God bless you.

  • I WANT the dress at 3:40...

  • i know i meant after my first favorite scene which is put the blame on mame my second favorite scene, not the year ! ;-)

  • this is so beautiful

  • THIS IS A FANTASTIC PRESENTATION

    ☸ڿڰۣ—

THANK YOU FOR THIS WONDERFUL RECORDING

    ❤ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ❤

    HAVE A NICE WEEKEND

  • this was my favorite scene in the movie

  • Beautiful...

  • I love love love this scene. This is true fashion and great dancing combined. Thank for uploading this video. This is a real feel good kind of movie. It is just something about movies from the 1940's to the 1950's.

  • The Mademoiselle girl is stunning. She's still a knock-out today.

Miss Glamour looks anything but...she looks like a spinster/school teacher.

  • Whenever anyone asks me why I love retro styles, I always point to this movie. Thank you so much for posting this, my second favorite clip from "Cover Girl".

  • Oh my God! the most beautiful woman in Hollywood ever! No one else

  • This number is amazing! Love the magazine covers and how they were assembled. Also, watch Rita's number and notice how fast she has to run to get to the bottom! Great dancing by her and the chorus, with a nice Ira Gershwin/Jerome Kern tune! An underrated musical without a doubt!

  • Not underrated at all! Considered the 2nd greatest musical of 1944 after "Meet me in St Louis". A smash it and nominated for 3 oscars! Including best song, for "Long Ago and Far Away"! Rita Hayworth's first Columbia picture in technicolor and the biggest hit of 1944 for Columbia and considered Gene Kelly's big break! After this film MGM would not loan him out to any studio!

  • It's not among the AFI's top 25 movie musicals, but is better than some of the films on that list. Love the cover girls, some of whom act in an early scene in the movie!

  • Does anyone know if the mp3 of this song , is avaiable?

  • I love this film!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Love the song.... :) SO lovely :) :) :)

Rita Hayworth is soooooooooooooo pretty :) Great actress and talented dancer :)

  • STRIKE A POSE!!!!! V O G U E!

  • Superlative choreography--the height of movie musical scoring

  • I love all of the pastels and beautiful colors in this movie. This is one of my favorite Rita Hayworth movies. Thank you for posting. :-)

  • I'm glad someone has posted this gorgeous number...great FX, which pay tribute to photography (the double-images of all the cover girls in the camera lens, and so forth). And some of those models are it: the 'Redbook' blonde, the 'American Home' brunette, and especially the 'Farm Journal' lady with the almost black hair (someone else mentioned her too- a stunner)...but then, there's Rita- of the auburn mane in a gold dress running down an endless runway with hundreds of admirers....Mahvelous!!

  • one hot grandmother after another. this is awesome

  • The "Glamour" girl looks alot like Linda Carter, who played "Rita" in the T.V. movie of her life,"The Love Goddess" back in the early 80's. Strange. I agreed with you marcco, Rita is luscious in "Cover Girl"

  • I agree with the Lynda Carter comparison, she also bears more than a passing resemblance to Sean Young as Rachael in Blade Runner.

  • FINALLY - this is after "Gilda" Ritas´s best dancing number EVER - watch all the more or less dated beauties until SHE arrives at the end on the top of the hill:

THE ONE AND ONLY GODDESS OF BEAUTY AND

DANCE - talented, gorgeous, golden Rita Hayworth !!!! My favorite Hayworth-number !!!

  • AMEN,AMEN!! when you say 'rita hayworth' THIS is the image i see in my mind's eye... the clouds, the stardust, the JOY expressed in rita's effortless dancing...all of it, just luscious!!!!

  • hi, did you all know, that lauren bacall was supposed to be one of the COVER GIRLS of 1943 for this number ? She thought about the offer and than wisely accepted the Howard Hawks offer for "TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT". She even said : Me and these beautiful girls and Rita Hayworth ? Not with my face"!!!

  • Hi oentschi. I think that Ms. Bacall was being modest when she said that. Personally I think that she's gorgeous and exotic and her beautiful face doesn't owe these models, or even Rita Hayworth, anything.

  • hi, you are right, that her face has more class than most of these other girls, but she bares no comparison to rita hayworth ! bacall is like dietrich an ice-cold beauty but has absolutely no sex-appeal, no curves, nothing sweet !

Hayworth is sexy, curvy, beautiful and dances like hell !!! There is a reason why Hayworth became a THE No.1-sex-symbol before Marilyn M. and not Bacall !!!

  • @oentschi Sorry.. 'GILDA' was two years after 'COVER GIRL'..

  • I saw this movie recently and know that some of these models became very famous. I find some of them breathtaking beauties even by today's standards but others look dated and awckward. I like particularly the one at 01:08 (the extremely beautiful Susann Shaw who posed as a bride for Vogue more than 1000 times), the homely pretty brunette at 01:37, Peggy Lloyd at 01:48 (Life's cover in 1943) and also the stunning looking Dusty Anderson at 02:50 who married hollywood director Jean Negulesco.

  • @adelinomalveiro -- 2:06 is my favorite. She's laying on the "glamoor" with a trowel.
