lets all remember that kagome is the more fortunate kikyo. as far as I know, Kagome is what Kikyo would have been if she hadn't had the responsibility of the sacred jewel and taking care of her village. Kagome matured into her priestess powers and duties and was able to continue a normal life. Kikyo was forced into them and never had the chance for normalcy. Inuyasha chose Kagome (in the anime) because she was what Kikyo couldn't be but was torn because of his loyalty to his first love.

I never liked Kikyou, but when I saw her death scene in Inuyasha: The Final Act, I have to say, it's probably one of the most touching anime scenes ever! You truly feel for her and the love she and Inuyasha had! She dies in Inuyasha's embrace and it's soooooo saddd
When read this one last thing with kikyo I was just sad, but when I watched that scene in the new series... hearing this song and seeing this made me cry so hard... I just couldn't help.

Theres nothing wrong with Kikyo as a character: she is independent & strong, two things her reincarnate Kagome seem to lack on some both parts. Real talk people, you see in many eps Kagome needs someone to protect her when she can do it herself. Kikyo & Kagome are opposites but love the same guy. its a real pity Inuyasha didnt go on his own adventures while kagome was gone for 3 yrs in final act.

Kikyo would have healed by now but she's not really Kikyo. She said so herself. You know, Kikyo is really a bad person at all. As much as I resent her for trying to come in between Kagome and Inuyasha, I truly feel sorry for her. Whenever I hear this song, any of the lingering resentment I have for Kikyo just slips away. She truly is a tragic priestess who only wanted to be with the one she loved. She just wanted to be a woman, free of the burdens of being a priestess. Kikyo is a beautifully sad character.
I love this! I do agree with the comments above, even though.. I like KagomexInuyasha as a pairing... I still felt bad for Kikyo. If I were in her shoes I would be... really depressed.. so I can understand her, it's just that while watching the series I think she acted mean in some parts and her attitude was a bit annoying. Either way it's a nice OST.

I feel so bad for her. She spent her youth, protecting a jewel and falling in love, only to believe she had been betrayed by that love. She died with her heart filled with hate and sorrow, and then was ressurected, to find no one truly was happy she was back. She wandered the earth, searching for a way to avenge her death and went through more pain. SHe was finally able to die peacefully, as an ordinary woman
Kikyo>Kagome. Just like Prince ( the musician/composer) said in his song "Kiss" " Women, not girls, rule my world." LOL Kagome was just that high school girl. Kikyo had a mystique and maturity that made her interesting, but hey I haven't seen the show in years I'm just revisiting on youtube real quick. I remember always hoping Kikyo would show up in the middle of an episode. lol
Truthfully, I pity Kikyo (I mean look at her; her past is sad, her very last wish was to see InuYasha one last time, and she always thought she didn't belong in "this world" because she's dead) but I'll always support InuKag. Like, in the Final Act where InuYasha was full demon and all he could think about was Kikyo; it was a thought about Kagome that had brought him out of his Demon form, not Kikyo. Truly, he must love her a lot for just a though of her to bring him out of that state, right?=)
I'm a fan of KagomexInuyasha and I still appreciate and pity Kikyo. The role she plays is tragic and she really doesn't deserve what happened to her. People constantly belittle her for attacking Inuyasha but she was decieved to believe her lover tried to kill her and everyone she loves. Truly sad indeed :/

I feel so sorry for Kikyo, her story was so tragic, and I think she doesn't deserve all the bashing she receives from great part of the InuYasha fandom, but I think that it is fault of the anime version that changed her scenes with InuYasha and other ones to make her look mean, while in the manga she is much more kind and shows she still loves Inu. She is my third favorite female character after Sango and Kagome. R.I.P Kikyo-sama.
I believe that the love that Inuyasha had foe Kikyo and Kagome were different. For Kikyo it was more like passion, for Kagome it was more like loyalty and respect. He definitely grew to love Kagome in the end, he recognizes all of the benefits that she brought in his life during his dark days. She definitely had the same strong spirit and a resemblance and maybe Inuyasha thought that he can actually have Kikyo anyway but when Kikyo tried to take him with her to death he fought back because he remembered Kagome. He definitely shared a great love with Kikyo but I definitely believe he also loved Kagome.

There's been something that's been bugging me lately about the series.

Didn't they continue it in The Final Act? 'Cuz I'm pretty sure that I saw Naraku in the first episode of that while watching the first minute of it. And I think Kanna was doing the voice over, and she died after the final battle with Naraku.

Personally, I'm with Kagome and Inuyasha. Kikyo's life is a sad, sad story.... but then again, Inuyasha's is the same, and he still loves Kikyo. He's very forgiving at times and unbeatably loyal.... but his love for Kikyo is unfair to Kagome. He loves them both, yet he's not a perv like Miroku, as he wouldn't even look in the direction of another girl besdies Kagome or Kikyo. I honestly used to be a part of the Kikyou-haters. At first, she was just kind of there, but when she attempted to kill Kagome and then tried to take Inuyasha to hell with her right in front of Kagome, that kind of solidified it. But when I read the chapter in the manga with Kikyou's death, I realized that Kikyou wasn't the one anyone should hate. If anyone at all, it should be Kagome, but it's hard to since InuKag moments are so precious and awesome, and Kagome's too selfless.
I do believe that Inuyasha never could love Kagoma like he does Kikyou, even if she has parted, if he never did love her the way he did, he wouldn't have kissed her as she died in his arms, for Kagome was right there.

Inuyasha ALWAYS had the most dramatic music. And they played it at the EXACT time it needed to be played. What a great anime! I cant wait for Final Act to be dubbed! And after Final Act the story is all over. :( We will miss you.

There is no point in me changing to subtitles now. I've grown to know these characters with their English voices.....not Japaense. So i will finish it the way i started. And besides, i hate looking at the subtitles, and then looking back up, and then reading them, and looking back up, etc.

I don't like Kikyo. Even if Inuyasha 'supposedly' hurt her (resulting in her death), if she REALLY loved him the she wouldn't have attacked him recklessly. But I don't like Kagome either. She uses ever little excuse - valid or not - to 'sit' Inuyasha. It's not fair!
Actually the reason Kagome can use "sit" is that 50 years ago kikyo made a necklace for inuyasha to prevent him from fighting and killing (but kikyo finnally had not give it to him because she though she should trust him).
to be honest, I have no feeling on Kagome at beginning because there were too much characters in animations like her; but aftering I know who made the necklace and when Kagome use "sit", I cant stop me to hate her.
She didn't attack him recklessly, he was fleeing from the DESTROYED village, laughing, with the sacred jewel in his hand. She was dying at that point and fulfilled her duty to protect the sacred jewel, watch the first episode again.
@MagicalPants I don't think that was the main reason. Naraku in Inu's form told her he was using her all along and was going to get the jewel, she fell in love with him, so saying that broke her heart in more ways than Narakus physical strength ever could. She didn't shoot out of a sense of duty, but revenge in a way. Though Im sure she did it for the jewel as well. Regardless, your right about it not being a reckless attack. Just an unbelievably big misunderstanding.
As the series goes on you start to understand Kikyo more and more. I came into the series when Kikyo wasn't so crazy. I remember watching the earlier episodes later on and thinking, "Wow, Kikyo is so blind," so I can see why some people wouldn't like her. The same goes with Kagome. I didn't like her from the start because I found her annoying, but now I understand her character better, so I don't really hate her anymore.
@gOtHiCxAnGeLxox actually, Kagome was using those excuses because she was denying that she liked him so she sat him whenever she could. However, she accepted that truth that she loved him, there was anger towards him in not being honest with her. I am involved in a situation like that one and we fight act very similar to Inu and Kagome.

Well, you know at the ending of the manga, Kagome and Inuyasha never expressed their love to one another, they never kissed (except in the second movie, but that was non-canon and you can hardly call that a passionate kiss) while Inuyasha had a lot of passionate kisses with Kikyo. Also, Inuyasha really didn't choosed Kagome over Kikyo, its just that Kagome was there and Kikyo no more ¿what if Kikyo would resurrect again, would Inuyasha be again confused or he would stay loyal to Kagome?
I think both girls hold a special spot in his heart. Kikyo was his first love & even agreed to become a human so they could both lead normal lives. Kagome sybolizes the girl who gave him a reason for giving love another chance. This time its unusual cuz theyre from diff time periods + its hard to love someone who looks like the person who betrayed you. It took a while, but they accepted and fell in love w/ eachother for who they are. Kagome as a modern girl and Inu as a demon

The flow of the story leads to Kagome and InuYasha, Kikyo was meant to be a past love and pursuing her only causes InuYasha pain. Kaede even stated that, after she 'dies' from the miasma, her suffering is finally over. In any case, Kikyo was meant to be reincarnated as Kagome, not to be separate

@InfiniteWebMaster I disagree with you. InuYasha stated he loves Kagome as the person she is and not as "a Kikyo replacement" in a scene of the manga that unfortunely was cut from the anime. Besides, they expressed their love for each other, maybe they don't kissed but they holded hands, Kagome learned against his back and InuYasha lie in her lap, gestures that in Japanese culture (and more in the Sengoku era) are very intimate. InuYasha loved both Kikyo and Kagome.

I think kikyo's been through a lot and people always say it's not her fault the way she is. BULL! We all get handed situations but the way we handle it is our choice. If she loved him, truly LOVED him, why would she have believed that so easily. Common it's diff from our time, A demon could've very well done that! Hell kogome went through through a lot but she didn't act like a bitch. Kikyo even tried to kill her! But what did kogome do forgave and ended up saving her!

Theres nothing wrong with Kikyo as a character: she is independent & strong, two things her reincarnate Kagome seem to lack on some both parts. Real talk people, you see in many eps Kagome needs someone to protect her when she can do it herself. Kikyo & Kagome are opposites but love the same guy. its a real pity Inuyasha didnt go on his own adventures while kagome was gone for 3 yrs in final act.

You know, Kikyo is really a bad person at all. As much as I resent her for trying to come in between Kagome and Inuyasha, I truly feel sorry for her. Whenever I hear this song, any of the lingering resentment I have for Kikyo just slips away. She truly is a tragic priestess who only wanted to be with the one she loved. She just wanted to be a woman, free of the burdens of being a priestess. Kikyo is a beautifully sad character.

I love this! I do agree with the comments above, even though.. I like KagomexInuyasha as a pairing... I still felt bad for Kikyo. If I were in her shoes I would be... really depressed.. so I can understand her, it's just that while watching the series I think she acted mean in some parts and her attitude was a bit annoying. Either way it's a nice OST.

I feel so bad for her. She spent her youth, protecting a jewel and falling in love, only to believe she had been betrayed by that love. She died with her heart filled with hate and sorrow, and then was ressurected, to find no one truly was happy she was back. She wandered the earth, searching for a way to avenge her death and went through more pain. SHe was finally able to die peacefully, as an ordinary woman

Truthfully, I pity Kikyo (I mean look at her; her past is sad, her very last wish was to see InuYasha one last time, and she always thought she didn't belong in "this world" because she's dead) but I'll always support InuKag. Like, in the Final Act where InuYasha was full demon and all he could think about was Kikyo; it was a thought about Kagome that had brought him out of his Demon form, not Kikyo. Truly, he must love her a lot for just a though of her to bring him out of that state, right?=)

Anyway, beautiful song. I feel so sorry for Kikyo, her story was so tragic, and I think she doesn't deserve all the bashing she receives from great part of the InuYasha fandom, but I think that it is fault of the anime version that changed her scenes with InuYasha and other ones to make her look mean, while in the manga she is much more kind and shows she still loves Inu. She is my third favorite female character after Sango and Kagome. R.I.P Kikyo-sama.

I believe that the love that Inuyasha had foe Kikyo and Kagome were different. For Kikyo it was more like passion, for Kagome it was more like loyalty and respect. He definitely grew to love Kagome in the end, he recognizes all of the benefits that she brought in his life during his dark days. Love can take a variety of forms according to the person that stands beside you. I don't believe he stayed with Kagome just because Kikyo was dead though. They were two different people after all.

She definitely had the same strong spirit and a resemblance and maybe Inuyasha thought that he can actually have Kikyo anyway but when Kikyo tried to take him with her to death he fought back because he remembered Kagome. He definitely shared a great love with Kikyo but I definitely believe he also loved Kagome.

There's been something that's been bugging me lately about the series.
"The television run of the anime ceased without a conclusion to the story."
Didn't they continue it in The Final Act? 'Cuz I'm pretty sure that I saw Naraku in the first episode of that while watching the first minute of it. And I think Kanna was doing the voice over, and she died after the final battle with Naraku.
Is the info out of date or what?

Personally, I'm with Kagome and Inuyasha. Kikyo's life is a sad, sad story.... but then again, Inuyasha's is the same, and he still loves Kikyo. He's very forgiving at times and unbeatably loyal.... but his love for Kikyo is unfair to Kagome. He loves them both, yet he's not a perv like Miroku, as he wouldn't even look in the direction of another girl besdies Kagome or Kikyo. I honestly used to be a part of the Kikyou-haters. At first, she was just kind of there, but when she attempted to kill Kagome and then tried to take Inuyasha to hell with her right in front of Kagome, that kind of solidified it. But when I read the chapter in the manga with Kikyou's death, I realized that Kikyou wasn't the one anyone should hate. If anyone at all, it should be Kagome, but it's hard to since InuKag moments are so precious and awesome, and Kagome's too selfless.

@xoxo1067 Well, the reason why i want it dubbed is because Inuyasha has about 150+ episodes to the story (Besides Final Act). I have seen every single episode in English. There is no point in me changing to subtitles now. I've grown to know these characters with their English voices.....not Japaense. So i will finish it the way i started. And besides, i hate looking at the subtitles, and then looking back up, and then reading them, and looking back up, etc.

Actually the reason Kagome can use "sit" is that 50 years ago kikyo made a necklace for inuyasha to prevent him from fighting and killing (but kikyo finnally had not give it to him because she though she should trust him).
to be honest, I have no feeling on Kagome at beginning because there were too much characters in animations like her; but aftering I know who made the necklace and when Kagome use "sit", I cant stop me to hate her.

She didn't attack him recklessly, he was fleeing from the DESTROYED village, laughing, with the sacred jewel in his hand. She was dying at that point and fulfilled her duty to protect the sacred jewel, watch the first episode again.

@MagicalPants I don't think that was the main reason. Naraku in Inu's form told her he was using her all along and was going to get the jewel, she fell in love with him, so saying that broke her heart in more ways than Narakus physical strength ever could. She didn't shoot out of a sense of duty, but revenge in a way. Though Im sure she did it for the jewel as well. Regardless, your right about it not being a reckless attack. Just an unbelievably big misunderstanding.

As the series goes on you start to understand Kikyo more and more. I came into the series when Kikyo wasn't so crazy. I remember watching the earlier episodes later on and thinking, "Wow, Kikyo is so blind," so I can see why some people wouldn't like her. The same goes with Kagome. I didn't like her from the start because I found her annoying, but now I understand her character better, so I don't really hate her anymore.
...Then there's Shippo who has remained annoying.

@gOtHiCxAnGeLxox actually, Kagome was using those excuses because she was denying that she liked him so she sat him whenever she could. However, she accepted that truth that she loved him, there was anger towards him in not being honest with her. I am involved in a situation like that one and we fight act very similar to Inu and Kagome.

Well, you know at the ending of the manga, Kagome and Inuyasha never expressed their love to one another, they never kissed (except in the second movie, but that was non-canon and you can hardly call that a passionate kiss) while Inuyasha had a lot of passionate kisses with Kikyo. Also, Inuyasha really didn't choosed Kagome over Kikyo, its just that Kagome was there and Kikyo no more ¿what if Kikyo would resurrect again, would Inuyasha be again confused or he would stay loyal to Kagome?

I think both girls hold a special spot in his heart. Kikyo was his first love & even agreed to become a human so they could both lead normal lives. Kagome sybolizes the girl who gave him a reason for giving love another chance. This time its unusual cuz theyre from diff time periods + its hard to love someone who looks like the person who betrayed you. It took a while, but they accepted and fell in love w/ eachother for who they are. Kagome as a modern girl and Inu as a demon

@InfiniteWebMaster You are right! I remember when I was younger and I laughed at the scene, where Inuyasha and Kagome kissed in the second movie, 'cause it didn't look much of a kiss at all! Nor did the kiss they shared in the Kanketsu-hen anime! Their kisses are like, lips barely even touch each other, but Inuyasha and Kikyou's kisses are full of passion and love.

@InfiniteWebMaster Well, you gotta factor in InuYasha usually gets the short end of the stick whenever he's pursuing Kikyo, one time in which he was actually fooled and Kagome ended up in danger.
The flow of the story leads to Kagome and InuYasha, Kikyo was meant to be a past love and pursuing her only causes InuYasha pain. Kaede even stated that, after she 'dies' from the miasma, her suffering is finally over. In any case, Kikyo was meant to be reincarnated as Kagome, not to be separate

@InfiniteWebMaster i totally agree with you on all counts. what if kikyo was suddenly back and ressurected as a immortal and Inuyasha went back to her as we have seen in the eps. i think its a total tear jerker to see kikyo and inuyasha together T^T their so cute!!!!!!!!!!

@InfiniteWebMaster I disagree with you. InuYasha stated he loves Kagome as the person she is and not as "a Kikyo replacement" in a scene of the manga that unfortunely was cut from the anime. Besides, they expressed their love for each other, maybe they don't kissed but they holded hands, Kagome learned against his back and InuYasha lie in her lap, gestures that in Japanese culture (and more in the Sengoku era) are very intimate. InuYasha loved both Kikyo and Kagome.
