Thanks for the comments. I haven't posted a video for a while, but I do have pics of some new cakes ... I'll try to post something soon. Have a great Christmas.
Great to see an oz making a mark on utube with your cake - look forward to seeing more of them... I usually use the orchard as I don't know any other brand...Post any recommendations of fondant you use thnx for sharing.
Thank you! You should also check out dantwaz and mackandnorm. Andrea (mackandnorm) has some beautiful, beautiful cakes using fondant. I mainly tend to use butter cream.
I like the lochness! I've used Orchard once and didn't find a problem with it. But mostly I've used Bakels pettinice icing which is the same as fondant (I haven't done that many cakes yet though). I haven't tried MM fondant yet- I haven't been able to find packets of plain white marshmallows! But I've bought Bakels in bulk (7kg), and I think it's probably more cost effective for me that way.
Thanks for your comments! Yes the marshmallow fondant ended up being expensive because I had to buy quite a few bags of MM's and pick out all the white ones!!
i try but still hard to me ? :( These past weeks just didn't have the time to play with making the rose lol been so busy. Also i will be going out of town for a month but i will still be on youtube.I will have my labtop with me.I will sure miss my home lol
Thanks Mimzy. Believe me - the bottom cake was not smooth at the back - it seemed to have stretch marks or something. I put a layer of buttercream on before the fondant - but perhaps I didn't refrigerate it for long enough before I put the fondant on top. I could feel the buttercream moving under the fondant when I was smoothing it on. We don't tend to put merang powder in buttercream here in Aust - so it doesn't actually "set" or go real hard.
LoL, omg, this is absolutely adorable!! the fondant looks smooth in the video, but if you're concerned about smoothness - did you crumb-coat the cake before you covered it with fondant? Crumb coats make a HUGE difference.
That's cute! Love the baby nessie and the little scottish hats. The water balloon idea is brilliant. Keep the videos coming!
