  • Totally awesome song! Movie wasn't so bad either. Be it by grace or foolishness love still conqures all... :-)

  • I love this song. I love the video as well...you can see how really in love these two are. Beautiful :)

  • I love, love, love this song and I agree with "mummywiggles" comment. (Secretary was such a good movie.) However, this video is awful! This musical version is also...eh. (I have heard 3 different versions of this song.) Seriously tho, this video is just plain weird! I wish they would have done a video with two different people.

  • she also does a song called "Prayer" that i cant seem to find here on youtube, but its outstanding.. i want it played at my funeral in fact.. (cheery huh?)

  • @bellona333 Search youtube for "The death of piper" and you will find it.

  • this version is different from the movie! Her voice is best in the movie.

  • A perfect voice for this song. Masterpiece. I get lost and the scene from the movie Secretary is such a perfect match. I was in awe when i first saw it. Thank you so much for posting.

  • I love this song & the video. I think it's quite beautiful how Lizzie West and Baba Buffalo express their love for each other. It gives me chills seeing a couple that in love. You can hear the passion in her voice and see it on their faces. I get goosebumps whenever she sings "they rise up high in the sky." Not to mention warm fuzzies when they kiss.

  • Song is wonderful....the video, not so much.

  • i luv, luv, luv "Secretary." It's one of my FAVORITE movies ever! This part of the movie rocks when he"s bathing her and this song is playing! this movie is just a "love story" just so happens they have a fetish that maybe not all of us share.

  • It seems i'm a day late and a dollar short. Just saw the movie like at 3am and it really touched me......Some kind of wonderful......Can't stop playing it......Music is so inspirational and this song is no exception=-)

  • I thought it was natalie merchant too!! this song gave me chills at the end of the movie Secretary!! I LOVED THAT FUCKIN MOVIE! <3

and oh yeah, this is such a sweet song. i give it an f-in 10!

  • AMAZING, AMAZING AND OH YEAH, AMAZING...thank you!

  • OMG i loved this song from the first time I heard it! I was watching "Secretary" and I Love that movie I guess in a sick way!! lol Thanks for posting this....

  • I love this song!

  • I have to admit that when I first heard this song in the movie Secretary, I thought it was Natalie Merchant.

  • @gothbrat13

I was SURE is was Natalie Merchant - but had never heard the song. Found a new singer that I like in Lizzie!

  • the video is simple but honest :)

  • thank you for this version.

when I heard the song in secretary, I had to cry...

wonderful song for the best love story ever

  • Wenn ich dieses Lied höre könnte ich einfach nur noch weinen...

When i´m listening to this song i just could crie all the time... (Sorry for my bad english)

    Besides - I love the movie! :)

  • I'm really glad that you used a version with the "what grace have I" lyrics instead of the "what a fool am I" lyrics. I learned this song from the end of Secretary, which has "what grace have I", and it's jarring to go from such a beautiful, positive line to a self-deprecating one, even if it's not meant to be strongly negative. I've been looking everywhere for a version with these lyrics!

  • @ChristovDell You're kind of missing the point of that lyric, I think. Some people think submission is beautiful...

  • @estrelle7 I'm with them on that! But calling yourself a fool has little to do with submission, in my opinion. I would rather her submission were framed as a matter of grace and beauty than foolishness :3

  • It seemed to me like a good fit since Lee Holloway was kind of a humiliation slut. I dunno. I do see your point.

  • @estrelle7 I know you're not asking my opinion but somehow I feel I must try and articulate. So I feel her submission is a deeper thing, what it is to me is this woman evolving and just opening herself up and in submission she opens herself up but to the right person. She learns to trust herself and him. I think there's right and theres wrong submission. I guess you dont know until you have done it and you make mistakes.

  • @estrelle7 The movie spares us from the worst scenarios that could arise from that but lets face it Lee at the start of the movie is pretty much NEAR worse case scenerio. It's not the submission that saves her, she saves herself but she finds herself too and that is through this submission. It's no role for her, it's a part of her.

  • P.S. Maybe the person who changed it for the movie thought submission is foolishness. Certainly seems that way to me, based on experience...biggest mistake of my life. I don't see the desire to submit as having so much to do with grace and beauty as much as a very unfortunate affliction.

  • @estrelle7 You went from cheerful to so sad there! I think we should try, we subbies, to stay upbeat :3 the rest of the world is confused enough, thinking we're abused/brainwashed/sick and all. As regards the other point, I think you might have misunderstood my first message - they changed it, for the movie, from "what a fool am I" to "what grace have I", not the other way around. It was because the director wanted to portray her submission as unambiguously positive for her :)

  • awesome movie, awesome song......

  • This song is best listened to on the movie the secretary with James Spader. It sums the song up brilliantly.

  • Totally agree. Could have been written specifically for the scene! But this video shows the versatility of the song, and of love in general.

  • Yes! I agree too! Spectacular movie.. beautiful song.

  • I believe it was specifically re-written for the movie =) she changed it from 'what a fool am I' to 'what grace do I have' lol or something like that xD

  • @mummywiggles Perfect for the scene!! OMG love the story, love the song, and in the words of the doctor: "who's to says that love needs to be soft and gentle"?

  • my favorite part is Dharma's walk-on role, personally. :)

And you always make me cry during the last chorus when you belt it out/ always gave me chills, and it still does.

This is soft and sensual and lovely. The snow is perfect, and the way you both exude such joy when you're in it. :)

  • one things for sure, you can't make up that scenery and cause that snow fall- mother was/is good.

  • this is so beautiful and from the heart. really captures the love and the staircase it travels on... up and up. namaste.
