If I was there, I'd stuff that whistle down somebody's neck. It must drive them crazy when they are in the zone, playing this ballad to the crowd and you get 1 knucklehead with a freekin' whistle. PuLeeze. Great tune. They really hit their stride in the 90's.
Very grat song, my cousin put me down on this back in the day. He would never tell how he got a video tape of this. My favorate person is the lady in the background vocal. She rocks !!!
@mrmartinmartin BAHAHAHA!!!!! He sure is. Weird, eh? You would think that he would spit it out before a performance but whatever still a good song. I still think the woman singing in the background doesn't need to be there. It's too much.
Mark's playing is great on this. His fingerpicked stuff doesn't knock your hair back as much but it's just as much of a constant counter point to the melody. Fantastic!
He is such an awesome bass player and I simply love Level 42. But why the hell does he have to chew chutty. It makes him look like he just doesn't give a damn. Such a shame. Anyway. one of the top 10 rock bands coming out of the UK ever.
yes he chewed gum alot when he was signing .. anyone who s seen him play live knows that and i found out up close from the 3rd row when they toured Canada in 1987 :) !!!
these chord changes and hooks "this time" "leaving this place" are able to lift your soul. how beautifully mesmerizing. lyrics and music are so perfect together.one of my all-time favorite songs. period
I NEVER tire of this beautiful tune...I can honestly sit and listen to it over and over again. Like so many of L42's songs. This band deserves so much more attention then they've gotten throughout the years. My #1 band of ALL TIME!!! Mark, Mike and the rest ARE TRUE MUSICANS in every sense of the word!!! Anyone who disagrees should take their head out of that hole in the ground and just LISTEN to their music! Anyone Agree with me on that?
What a rendition. Forever unchanging. Forget the comments made by Mark to Annie and Mike, The whole team have made this a nostalgic trip to the Old days. There are too many songs ruined by drumms, beetboxing and rap. This has been untouched and is as macal now as it was when it was first released. Rock on in 2008 L42!...
One of Level 42's finest moments. Mark's compliments are just deserved but the main thing is the teamwork from all involved in making this a rendition. The redubs nowadays are shoddy compared to this number which has not suffered the futuristic twist of drums and more beatboxing. Just a plain simple ballad for all to enjoy... Sorry just an old warhorse saying what he feels about a classical L42 number!
No Need for apoligies friend, you are SO RIGHT! This tune (as many more others by this wonderful band) is a classic in every sense of the word!!! I agree completely!
Hmm i know alot of these comments are prob coming from musicians ..but you know i would think there's no way of duplicating a studio recording in a live concert/recording .. and i m sorry i disagree this has plenty of soul to these ears ! I think it's great the way Mark compliments Annie MaCaig and Mike Lindup at the end of this ! :)
i think gary husband is an amazing drummer .. but he s also an equally impressive keyboard player .. hes touring with John Mclaughlin (from the mahavishnu orchestra) in the US this month too ... just too bad its too far away from me ... ah well ..
heavily underrated!

I know I've done it loads of times.
