This country has too many government (taxpayer) funded entitlement programs. One perhaps is too many. We've got Social Security, Welfare, etc. Where is the incentive to get a job, go to school or improve oneself when one can sit on their lazy butt and collect a handout?
In 2 Cor. 9 Paul talks about giving, not grudgingly or "of necessity", but as we purpose in our hearts, cheerfully. Gov't healthcare and handouts are not charity.

James 1:27, Pro. 29:7, 1 Tim. 5:8, and other verses dealing with the poor in scripture are always talking to individuals, not a government entity. If it's any consolation to your dog, in Canada, we have had Universal health Care for almost 50 years, and our pets are still not covered.

When you add in 1) those who's benefits have run out 2) those who have given up on trying to find a job, and 3) those who are UNDER employed, the unemployment rate is between 13 and 17%. And thats INCLUDING those 400k temporary census jobs the President includes in that statistic. Stop it with your spin and address the facts.

Under Bush, unemployment was at 4.5%. There was only one other time period when the unemployment # was lower and that was during the roaring 20's when Coolidge cut taxes and cut spending in half. Thats MUCH better than the 13.2% number your coming up with (but somehow most economists who study this kind of thing for a living believe its closer to 16-17%).

When the costs exceed the revenues which they SURELY will, the government will HAVE to ration. In that scenario, we will have universal COVERAGE but we will not have universal ACCESS due to waiting lines to see a doctor. THIS DOES NOT work in the long term.
