Anybody notice that Blow Fly record he pointed at 6:25? I actually know that dude. He down here in my hometown miami. Hey play keys and write songs. Talented.
damn waajeed is just like me, i dont know or remember a lot of artist like some producers like j dilla, black milk, pete rock, and dj premier, i just guess and i'll find something. how do producers know so many artist? i wish record shops in SLC were like this then ill be in all day with a portable turntable diggin. we cant open records either if we do we got to pay for em..im looking forward going to detroit someday for records.
just started to dig. been diggin for like the past 5 months now. i'm 29 now and i wish i woulda kept my mom's old collection instead of that damn garage sale! lol!!
must read this. once u have started there is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 vidoes in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste to be saved srry
Truth of the matter is that this is an outdated and limited way of finding samples now. Records take up too much space and cause dust.
We left the 8 track to go tape.left the tape to go cd and now we are leaving the cd era. We are in ever changing times where technology is god. How can one have eccess to every record in the world like this? and where would you keep em?
I see what your saying but there's just something about going into a record store and finding that record you've been looking for and actually having it in your hands. Plus the record covers are pretty damn cool!
Sonically from a producer's point of view (Me) - Records have a fatter sound and no digital equipment can ever emulate that fat, sometimes scratchy dusty feel. Its great for rap.
But economically its outdated, expensive and limited to one store at a time.
Like i said i can go onto the site i was talking about and download any album on the face of this earth. You can't beat that. I fly through records all day on my computer. These guys on here are the past who just do it for fun.
See that what I'm sayin'! People asking about REAL HIPHOP on that track Waajeed played! Show & A.G. "Next Level"! People need to peep that whole late 80's, early 90's era! Home of Marley Marl, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, D.I.T.C. crew, Large Professor, etc. The good old days! Straight "boom bap", spittin' over tracks, that rawness that we DON'T SEE TODAY IN RAP MUSIC! But don't sleep, hiphop ain't dead, you've got to find that REAL SH*T! It's out here! Great vid!
I love videos like this, really getting to know the people behind the music, and I loved hearing 'Reel People - Second Guess' playing in the background at one point... Awesome video.
"i need that in my life, that's real hip-hop goddamnit." why was i thinkin the exact words b4 he said 'em. That dude is cool wit me. I fucks wit Waajigga.
this store is nice but the spot about 10 years ago was Jerry's in pittsburgh. that place was off the fucking hinges. the 12" room alone was about twice the size o m&m. RIP Jerrys, i scooped some ridiculous records there.
the joint he played at 2:30 was off of goodfellas by showbiz and ag. showbiz did the beat. i think the name of the song is next level. i may be wrong though.
I love diggin. I'm from Portland, OR. The record spot out here be on some laid back tip. Even on crowded days. We get alot of crazy, crazy shit, or so alot of out-of-towners say.
I can identify wit him on most of the stuff he sayin. I aint been able to dig for jewels in a minute. Peep the stuff Waajeed did for Elzhi, both dem nggz killed it.
He's a REAL cat with a dope ear. Cop anything he drops. *Note to nmhz: The track playing at 2:20 is Show & AG's "Next Level(rmx)" produced by Premier.
