This is a great video and very informative but I would get in a bit better shape before you do a fitness video. Your credibility is shot when you're breathless in a fitness video after just a few short reps. Otherwise a great contribution.
@kapows Actually you're wrong. If your knees go over your toes you will put more pressure on your knees, if you extend your butt back and keep your knees positioned over your heels, you put more pressure on your hips. Most people who don't know shit will say to keep your knees over your heels due to the frequency of knee injury. In reality you should have some pressure on both joints, unless you are doing sports specific training. Lose the 24 hour fitness membership and go back to school.
I'm "training" some college art students - a few of them did their first triathlon in July. This video is a GREAT pointer for them in the off-season. Thanks!!!
to be honest, it's impossible, i mean i just tried doing a squat without weights and if ur knees go over your toes, your gonna break your legs if your holding weights.
this goblet thing looks weird, it doesn't look like u can hold a lot of weight
Good stuff, but yeah, I don't think goblets are meant for super heavy weight squats. You'd have to go to a front squat if you want that. Goblet squats are good for teaching beginners how to squat though and doing tabata squats.
hmmm.. I am a certified personal trainer and have ALWAYS been taught to never let your knees go past the toes during any type of squat.. Too much pressure on the knees..
how would one deep squat (below parallel) without allowing one's knees to go pass?
I've read both sides of the argument and I choose to squat to parallel (crease of hip is lower than top of the knee) or lower. Once I had the technique down, I felt no difference in pressure on the knee vs. doing 1/2 squats and i'm now squatting 245lbs x 5.
power lifters have to squat to parallel and they don't all have knee issues

@kapows Putting your knees past your toes is only bad for you if your knees are already fucked up or you rotate them. Look at Olympic lifters

This is a great exercise and your knees will travel past your toes. If you do it correctly it will be minimal though.
