I like both actually. I love Juliette Lewis' version of hardly wait better, and pj 's version of rid of me better. I do not agree however that Juliette did this cover exactly the same, when pj sings there is alot of emotion and soul to her voice. However when Juliette sings there is emotion and soul plus she sounds more sensual. I feel like she expresses a tad more. I like them both and am happy that Juliette was able to try these and be successful. To me they both Rock! Neither better than t

Well, that wasn't a cover version. That was a copy version. I hate that. Why bother? If an artist is going to do another artists' song, they should bring their own artistry into it, not just re-do the song with the exact same everything. BORING and lazy. I never thought anyone could do justice to a PJ song other than the goddess herself but after listening to this and Hardly Wait I must say that Miss Lewis does a pretty good job of it. I say kudos for being able to pull off a difficult song (albeit still not as good as PJ of course...no one is)

pj recording is real, she said she was going through a nervous brakedown when she recorded rid of me. most of it caused by a brake up with some boyfriend.

juliettes version is a good interpritation of it. she does a believeable job. this type of song needs a convincing an honest delivery. they both rock!!

If you listen to a live version of PJ, the difference is: PJ is telling a real raw story; Juliette is acting. No contest.

@logossun I love PJ's version a lot better by far, but she wasn't telling a true story either. See any interview of her and she actively states that she's not a torutured artist. But this version is actually a lot better than I was expecting, the song is just uncoverable.

Good comment! I actually meant PJ's emotion is more real that Juliette's; sort of like comparing a natural actor like... I don't know, Keitel to an actor that you see needs to "act" to perform well. But again, excellent comment!

PJ Harvey is indeed a genius; she can make three chords do things to you that you never thought possible - I adore her. But I think Juliette did this song fairly well; she's a good singer on her own, and as an actor she was able to bring some really great emotion into her version.
