In response to hairypolack - Britney / Christina / Paris? - those bubblegummers are not in the same genre as Juliana Hatfield. Liz Phair, maybe. Avril Lavigne, (regretably) maybe. Although Avril is more poppy/mainstream than Juliana was, she can hold her own with a guitar.

Yup, I remember that. They even showed it here in sweden.. Juliana is really nice and sympathetic in person! We had a conversation with her after a gig last year... she´s really down-to-earth. Anyway she asked the audience: "So, what do you want me to play?".... a friend of mine yelled: "I want you to play the guitar left-handed!", ha ha, even Juliana couldn´t hide her smile at the moment. Afterwards she thought we were very funny indeed.

I'm telling all of you, for the one and only time. I interviewd Juliana back in the late 1990's for an online rock music journali called Addicted to Noise. Hatfield came across very insecure and did not make for a memorable interview. I saw Juliana perform live with her band prior to the interview. Let's compare a 100 watt bulb to a 50 watt bulb. Juliana is a 50 watt bulb. Its not her fault. Its just the level of energy she's capable of emitting.
