Scottie scored 30+ in only 3 qtrs in both meetings against the Lakers in 1996 lol. Amazing. The numbers they showed for 1995 against LA at 5:26 which were equally amazing. In his prime the guy truly was a Laker killer. This is like the 5th game I've seen from the 1996 season where Pippen scored 30 in just 3 qtrs and sat out the 4th qtr. If he were a stat padder he probably could have gone for 40-50 in some of those games.

Scottie always put on the full display of talent against the Lakers. Look at the variety of ways he scored in this game. Catch and shoots, from the low post, from the high post, midrange shots, 3 pointers, tip dunks, off the drive, etc. He could score from every angle really. And it seemed there were so many games he could have scored 40+ but still took a backseat to make sure others got theirs instead of padding his stats. Scottie was simply a one of a kind player.

Pippen is such a unique player in NBA history. There is literally no team from any era that wouldn't immediately improve wiby dropping in Scottie.

Most players need certain situations to thrive. Rodman needed to play on teams with superior offensive players to make up for his lack of scoring. A guy like Iverson needs to dominate the ball and take tons of shots. Nash needs a certain system to thrive.

But Pippen could fit whatever roll you needed, at whatever pace, and add to the team.

Yes, Rodman would personally thrive wherever he played, but for his team to be effective, he needed to be surrounded by offensive players capable of playing 4 on 5 every time down the court. If Michael Jordan or Isaiah Thomas are on your team, it's not a problem, but you can't drop Rodman just anywhere and expect to win.

Even Jordan had the sort of personality that could cause conflict. Pippen is the ultimate teammate.

Pistons, Spurs, Bulls...all great teams while he was there. Of course you need other scorers on the team, one person can't do it all. But Rodman added more value to a team than you realize.

the no contact rule in the NBA allows pure athletes to dominate. Before because of the physicality of the game players where forced to develope skills to get shots and move the ball. You didnt have the luxury of moving around unimpeded. You had a forearm on you and a player riding you. You use more athleticism in the 90's and endured more punishment. You needed skill to penetrate and skill to get points.

All you need is athleticism and speed and you can just slash and get the dunk, layup,easy shot around the rim or collapse the defense and kick to a wide open shooter. he meant only athleticaly... rodman was 1 or 2 years older than mj (did you know that) and at age 38-39 in 1998 he could run and jump and run for 40 minutes.... rodman was a beast of nature...... great endurance, great athletic abilities... notice in every highlight you watch, how he always ran the floor behind jordan or pippen and if they miss he would dunk the ball or if most probably they scored he would just jump and touch the rim... he was NEVER tired...

I think it was disrespectful if the starting 5 tried to pad stats in a blowout but I don't think it was a big deal if the scrubs did it in garbage time. I remember the Bulls fans in attendance getting free tacos or something like that if the Bulls scored 120 so it gave the bench guys incentive to score during blowouts. I think that's why they were trying so hard to score in the end.
