Much respect to the indian martial arts.. I was expecting to see some tradtional dances and BS of impracticality as usual.. nice to see an old school art teaching in practicality through testing their art form
@Jaiyeson There are martial arts in Indian which resember Muay Thai and modern MMA. I would provide links but youtube gives me an error when I try to include them...will msg you privately with links.
According to the famed Karate Grandmaster Masutatsu Oyama in his book "Advanced Karate" on pg.13 "The oldest known records concerning combat techniques, hieroglyphic scrolls from Egyptian tombs, dating as far back as 4000 B.C." He also states that Bhodhidharma traveled to China and combined his combat and yogic breathing exercises with indigenous Chinese martial arts at a temple called Shaolin.
This documentary made me wonder about the connection between Indian and Chinese culture. the two don't seem the same at first glance but as you learn more about both the simmilarities are quite prevelent. India seems to have had a huge impact on China. In fact i remember one time when I was in China and I ignorantly reffered to India as a middle eastern nation the Chinese woman I was talking to got somewhat upset and jumpped to defend india as an Asian nation.
Very good, Middle East is not in asia. HOWEVER, Central ASIA which includes Afghanistan is Asia, but it also isn't EAST Asia. Go back to middle school and retake the geography that you outrightly and epicly failed.
That is correct. Zheng He - the chinese muslim commander visited kerala manytimes and even stayed at a stretch over a year in calicut. He mentioned very highly about kerala culture.

I remember how we used to do those massages with the leg and we would stretch each other after Aikido practice. Those are very healthy and it feels great when you are battered and bruised, well even when you are not lol. A cruel practice that the instructor used to do was to get you in a lock on the ground and then put his ice cold foot on your back if you could not escape. Good times lol
Vasudevan Gurakkal is a Dronacharya in our own times.Really Great.

India is neither Asia nor the Middle East. India is India and nothing else, a unique entity in itself. :)

Interesting documentary. Kalaripayattu is a dynamic art originating from Kerela. It might have had some influence on the Eastern Asian Arts.
