But, to me it conveys the message that your father gave up his life so you and the secrets to saving the world could live on, and you're following in his footsteps when you activate the purifier. Fallout 2 had more to do, but Fallout's plot is still the best I've ever seen in a game. 2 lost a lot of the Retro-futurism imagery and atmosphere... It felt bleak and at times hopeless, like the Boneyard Regulator quest... The new ones are fun, but I don't really count them as proper Fallout games...
I remember taking this in my first play-through because I was intimidated by lou... The woes of playing a game like Fallout as an 8-year old...
Then I manned up, fought lou and witnessed possibly the most extravagant death in any medium, real or fiction.. The Master's Cathedral vault still creeps me out, the music... the living walls... @lala199517 It is, the game world was darker and almost all humor was dark , most survivors of the war were disilussioned people , wandering off, babling nonsense, or downright mad.
In the original script even some quests were made that no matter what you did they ended bad - people died or the crops would fail and people die, etc.
Dark game - but SO cool.
Fallout 2 was lighter. Fallout 3...i dunno, i didn't feel "fallout" epicness in it - too much tunnel crawling.

Fallout 2 had more to do, but Fallout's plot is still the best I've ever seen in a game. 2 lost a lot of the Retro-futurism imagery and atmosphere... It felt bleak and at times hopeless, like the Boneyard Regulator quest... The new ones are fun, but I don't really count them as proper Fallout games...

I remember taking this in my first play-through because I was intimidated by lou... The woes of playing a game like Fallout as an 8-year old...
Then I manned up, fought lou and witnessed possibly the most extravagant death in any medium, real or fiction.. The Master's Cathedral vault still creeps me out, the music... the living walls... And MY GOD did I have nightmares when I fought The Master. JOIN. DIE. JOIN. DIE. Missing third option, whimper. Kids don't know what they're missing with CoD!

Only good thing in this ending is to see a slow painfull death of overseer. He knew all about Enclave vault program and had a task to keep people in his vault to continue experiment.
Did you noticed that Overseer really dont want to die quickly? Even as angry Vault Dweller kills him after last speech?

@CladCake No, but he goes to Arroyo, there he dies from old age, that's when in Fallout 2, he's your ancestor, you have to save your village from the incoming attack from the Enclave.

@lala199517 It is, the game world was darker and almost all humor was dark , most survivors of the war were disilussioned people , wandering off, babling nonsense, or downright mad.
In the original script even some quests were made that no matter what you did they ended bad - people died or the crops would fail and people die, etc.
Dark game - but SO cool.
Fallout 2 was lighter. Fallout 3...i dunno, i didn't feel "fallout" epicness in it - too much tunnel crawling.

@lala199517 It was intended to be a underground, somewhat hardcore RPG. Fo3/NV were mainstream, sort of the opposite of what the originals, or, at very least, 1, was. It was much, much darker, you could even kill kids in this game.
Very good example of 1990's era RPGs.

As for New Vegas, i've finished the game three times, fallout 3 7 times. Never got bored. New vegas I probably played as much time as fallout 3 but shit kept on happening. Ever played Fallout 3? Go get it. Its a GOTY and its probably about 20-30 $ or something.
