  • Sounds interesting but does it really need 7:41 minutes to explain this concept? If you can't explain in one I am not convinced....

  • If it's that easy, why dont Bill Gates, The Queen of England, and the Sultan of Brunai buy up all the Rainforests? Why do we have to scrape together the cash by selling adspace on an upstart search engine?

What do they mean they will "save" the rainforest? Are they finding new, more profitable industries with which to replace lumber and industrial agriculture in South America?

    bleep bloop. does not compute.

  • great search engine

  • good commercial,

  • Ecosia is just another way Yahoo and Microsoft (united called BING) is trying to cut Google's hegemony..smart, use the eco card!!

  • Unfortunately, this is not the end of all our negative contribution using computers. Just take this: "being green has never been so easy". That is outright bullshit!

  • What a load of horse manure. I hope Ecosia becomes a monumental failure, environmentalism is the new opium of the people.

  • Thats a bad thing, how?

  • WOOHOOO ECOSIA!!!!!!!!!!!

  • good information.

  • Great...., thank you!

  • EcosiaVideo

I suggest you put a live link including h t t p in the more info section

  • Very cool:) *****

  • After looking in to the WWF. I find that it is a run for profit corporation. They do not say anywhere what they actually do with the money. Then if you research the leaders of this corporation you find they all have strong ties with corporations that produce products that poison people and the environment. If you are thinking about giving these people your money I suggest researching them. I will not be giving this corporation one cent.

  • Strawman007, I agree with you in general but using GOOGLE you feed this CORPORATIONS! In case of ecosia, you do not give a penny, and profit from your search goes to a project in JURUENA National Park in Brazil. Ok. WWF is not a saint but at least something! Greetings!

  • I don't use google either. I use Ixquick which is sort of like the old go2net. It is a "meta" search engine. They also do not record your ISP if some one was paranoid about that sort of thing. It is pretty smooth as well. With no adds etc...

  • the internet. it emits co2.

    I'm sure.

  • Do they buy up chunks of rain forest then put a fence around it or something? I am still not clear how they are saving the forest. I am interested for sure just do not quite understand how this works.

  • The money goes to rainforest projects from the WWF.

  • Ecosia is great!!!

I was sceptical untill I checqued by searching my new website: even if in GOOGLE I type few key words that are UNIQUE for my website, the result is ZERO among million of other results. Sounds familiar?

Now, I typed the very same keywords, in ECOSIA - there is result on the very first place!

    WOW!

  • Microsoft has to promote Bing...

  • The remaining 20% pays for all of Ecosia's costs. Most importantly the costs result from people working for Ecosia (PR staff, programmers), servers and domains, and advertisements and partnerships with other organisations.

  • I'm so suprised at how negative people are about this great project. It is no "trick" of Bing - Ecosia has been set up by a group of like-minded friends from Germany & is founded by Christian Kroll. A contract has been signed with the WWF to ensure that 80% of Ecosia's revenue goes to the right place. As well as saving 2 square metres with every search, their servers are run on green electricity & all-user related data is deleted within 48 hours to protect their users' privacy. AMAZING! :D

  • what happens with the other 20%.. :) its sounds great but.. still i dunno they said that about the tsunami funds to..

  • they need some money to pay employees, servers etc.

  • yeah Tommy...and their butlers, maids, cooks and servants in their mansions on the hill too. :-)

  • Maybe:p But they are teamed up with the WWF (World Wildlife Foundation). If you don't thrust them, then who is there left to trust...

  • I thought you meant Google??? Did I miss something! Have fun.

  • WWF is just a money making scam.

  • Really? Prove it.

  • This is another trick of bing(which own yahoo too) to beat google and all those about donations to WWF are lies to adopt users.

    Just another trick of microsoft

  • if its so, I find it nice, because I own shares of Microsoft!

Go Microsoft , go go go !

All buy Microsoft and use Bing please.

  • but it indeed looks like Bing *lol*

  • Comment removed

  • "Reducing CO2 levels will reduce the growth of forests. "

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Thanks for that, mate! You're really funny. No, serious. You're kidding, right? You had at least some biology in school?

  • just visit their site and see for yourself..

And how would forests grow when there weren't people on earth then?;)

  • Stop complaining people. If Ecosia isn't in your language why don't you offer Ecosia to translate it?

Why always words instead of deeds?

  • Great company! But 'LoveandEqualityToAll' Are you seriously saying google is a responsible company? They have total market control and do very little for good causes and society! They give most of the money to the investors.

  • dope engine

  • I really want to help to save the rainforests but Ecosia doesnt support my language. That's why I stay by Google. :-(

  • już niedługo będzie też po polsku ;)

  • Are u sure, because Ecosia doesn't YET support my language. on december 7th it starts. So mabye ecosia will start supporting your language too. the company is just beginning. ;)

  • Maby... :)

    Thanks
