this post makes me very happy because it was the first person I respect (Lynch) to outwardly show support for a great track off a then-misunderstood, rather maligned Bowie album called "1: Outside". This was a long time ago, but when Lynch pics the same song for the opening and closing music of "Lost Highway", people at the time were like, "hmmm". Now, like almost all of Bowies "misunderstood" albums, it's a classic. ;)
that song is about "salam" today... well early nineties.... lost his stupid little mind by floating around and waiting.... waiting..... waaaaiting....... out of his physical body..... and lost his destiny...... it is sad Natea25.... thank you for caring.... and thankyou for your sorrow........ i..... am..... deranged...... salam.... 'the bringer of peace'...... some would say he failed..... some know the great set up is only to come to fruition.... fruition..... end
I love David Lynch's work, but sometimes, I think he does 'odd' strictly for the sake of being 'odd', which in the short term is exciting, but has a bit of a novelty value. Quentin Tarantino also tries to be arty and different, but Lynch's work is FAR better. Quentin Tarantino's work is just plain shit.
he was pretty good in the 90s (tarantino). BTW, I am in love with this song. It's beautiful. Although couldn't the poster of the video put up a more flattering picture?
@stephenp1968 I totally agree! Tarantino relies more on shock factor through derogatory violence and sex, but Lynch is a true genius in the way he portrays his vision in a suttle yet at times strong impact.
I have always seen Tarantino's work as work of pure scum.
lynch's movies aren't meant to be fully understood. they're like dreams and nightmares. abstract. the meaning you take from the films are totally personal.
@strutnoodle good one. if one looks to a Lynch film and asked, "what's it all mean", they're either a newcomer to his world, or, uhmm, not really suited to that type of filmmaking.
strutnoodle ,yeah its and abstract film what is there to be understood, and please tell us what the point was ,or your perspective because you might know something I don't,I;ve watched that movie 20 times I wouldn't claimed to understood it.
Hey, strutnoodle. Glad to hear from ya. It would take quite awhile for me to intellectualize one about Lost Highway, so if you have any specific questions I would be more than happy to answer them.
everyone has different opinions of the movie. david lynch never has admit it to a final conclusion. but there r college corses on movies and LOST HIGHWAy comes up all the time. the last conclusion i heard was that the character Fred is actually in an electric chair. n he is trying to go back inside hismind where things went wrong, he dies n his soul goes to the mechnic, but at the ened he keeps coming back to death. that's why the movie goes back thebeginning when he rings the bell
no doubt, this soundtrack is actually how i discovered david lynch way back when.. cause i loved the NIN's song perfect drug and decided to give the movie a try and i've never looked back
Nezror... Is that an anagram for Reznor? Trent Reznor? NIN?

I don't know if it's anything to do with him being odd for the sake of oddness.
I think he's a really weird dude, that shows through his art, in a really, really truthful way.
