  • The best aerobatic pilot that I have ever seen

  • Thanks dawtherbunny - Never felt better to be wrong! Appreciate your correction. It was a different Robert Hoover, one year younger than AeroComm Bob.

  • No head phones

  • the best pilot for every time, no questions. congratulations for your video

  • I have never seenan Aero Commander do that kinda stuff =P

  • @jwalk77ful My friend you are wrong. The siteblog that you read this is not Bob's A Hoover aviator legend.Bob A. hoover is still alive.

  • SUNDAY, AUGUST 15, 2010

"It is my sad duty to tell all of you who read Bob's blog that Bob passed away this past Friday, August 13. How much he will be missed is incalcuable. Thank you all for all the support you have given him. I'm his wife. He was a great man."

  • @jwalk77ful This information is incorrect! The Bob Hoover you speak of was a different Bob Hoover. Not THE R.A. Bob Hoover. R.A. Bob Hoover is still very much alive. If he passed away in 2010 how is it that he was at this year's EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI? lol

  • hell of a pilot

  • Thanks for posting this, I am a huge Bob Hoover fan, I admire him as a pilot, a man and an Amercan. Somewhere, in an attic, there's a box with some old 8mm film of Bob flying his P-51. I anyone runs across that, please post it.

  • Bob is boss.

  • Simply amazing this man!! With the sabreliner the air show programm is more spectacular!!!!

  • This man is an inspiration.

  • hello,

    thank you mrs bob hoover

    congratulations

  • Bob hoover used to perform at Castle AFB in the late 50s to the 60s in a P-51.He put on a really great show.I would like to see the film of him flying a Sabreliner thru the hoops, but North American didn't want to release the film because they thought it would scare prospective customers.

  • his skills are unbelievable....

  • Reading the book bout you Bob haha :) you sound and look like a true legend.

People like you are what inspire people like me :)

  • Bob Hoover was and still is "The Man".

  • Met him several times he's such a great guy ,really nice to talk to.He's not stuck up at all.A true Gent and legend.

  • No, this is not natural.

    This is.....just 'not'.

Here, Bob Hoover is Bob Hoover.

    Unbeliable.

    An Airman.

  • God speed bob, we miss you.

  • Who's the one guy who didn't like this video? And why?

  • @MicahTappe It might be the FAA.

  • @MicahTappe Nah, it was probably a girl searching for a new vacuum cleaner :-)

  • @MicahTappe It was probably someone who tried to duplicate part of his routine and ended up in trouble and almost crashing. Or maybe they just hit the "dislike" box by accident. Either way, how can anyone dislike PERFECTION??!!

  • Shrike commander

  • Awesome flying! Can't get much better ... let me rephrase... Can't get ANY better than this!

  • Amazing, i think its an Aero Commander, what a pilot!!!

  • Absolutly the most amazing stick and rudder pilot that has ever been cant believe he is almost 90

  • Best stick and rudder man that ever lived.

  • STILL CANT BELEAVE THAT YOU SOLD YOUR P38 AND BOUGHT A P51

  • i think he flew the plane into the pentagon

  • what about shock cooling?

  • The best stick and rudder pilot ever.....

  • Every pilot's hero. God bless you, Bob.

  • Simply Wonderful!!

  • One of the greatest aviators of our time!

  • Look Ma! No hands!

  • I had the pleasure of being an eye witness to his show at Sun - N- Fun one year. It was an even bigger treat after having read about him in my autographed copy of Chuck Yeager's biography.

    -Self proclaimed Wing Nut

  • Never had the chance to see Mr. Hoover fly in person so thanks for posting! I have had the extreme pleasure of meeting and assisting Bob at the 09 Reno Air Races as I worked for RARA and helped him get to his VIP tent area and get a golf cart ride for him after. Although he took off walking not wanting to wait for the cart to arrive. He still has all that energy!

  • My brother Don+I would see 'Ole Bob perform at air shows around New Orleans.

He is from Tenn,Nashville area,so are my Hoover ancestors from Middle Tenn,

Hoover's Gap near Beechgrove. Tried to make a family connection but our Hoover

    ancestors are different.....Ron Hoover Colorado

  • You are the greatest R.A.

Does any one have any footage of your aerobatics in you P51D either evergreen colors or old yellow.

Your roll on takeoff at 25ft with SO is fantastic.

  • Hoover lived not to far away from me and saw him many times. Story behind being grounded I believe At the Great American Airshow someone said he was acting strange lost his medical. About 1 1/2 years later got it back but could only fly at airshows. Someone else flew his planes there. He was finally grounded only after insurance companies refused insurance. Both planes in Smithsonian

  • the best

  • I saw him do that down in Momouth County airport in NJ a master he'sjust so very cool.

  • The greatest stick and rudder pilot of all time and probley the best we will ever see. I think he does not fly at all anymore thank god for the hours of video we have of him flying.

  • @jdhiner1 Think Faa grounded him. A health issue--body.

  • I don't think a better pilot exists

  • The man is simply the best

  • commander

  • he is a pure legend. amazing pilot.

  • what king of plane is this?

  • Quel mec!! Utiliser la finesse d'un avion et mettre à profit les forces sans brusquer l'avion, je pense que c'est le seul a pouvoir faire çà; quelle maîtrise des commandes!! C'est extraordinaire et beau.

  • shock cooling? lol this guy is amazing

  • He saves tons in 100LL

  • dynamic soaring ...bob is a legand

  • he can save lot of gas :D

  • And his hat don't fall off..class!

  • I wonder how many cylinder assemblies he murdered per year LOL? If they lasted, say, a thousand hours, it certainly puts the shock cooling story to rest! Anybody out there who wrenched on his Commander?

  • talked to a fella that did about ten years ago. said he was a mechanic part time between '83 and '84. anyway, said that the only thing they ever had to keep an eye on was the welds on the engine mounts. they had to keep inspecting for cracks due to g-loads. but he said the Commanders held up well because Bob never pulled more then 2 neg g's with it and no more then 5 positive if he could help it. interesting conversation though. never mentioned any engine problems.

  • when he came to australia he did a display in one of my aerocommander 500s

  • his skills are unbelievable

  • Energy management

Bob Hoover is just a bad ass

  • Beautiful. Just beautiful.

  • Extraordinario PILOTO

Magnifico toda una leyenda Mr. Hoover

  • This makes me really wnat to buy an Aero Commandeer 500.

  • feel free to buy one off me just reply

  • The best..........

  • I met Bob Hoover back in the early to mid 80's in Latrobe PA when he was employed by Rockwell International traveling around the country performing aerobatics in a Shrike Commander. Awesome to see him shut the engines off and roll the plane around.

He was Yeager's backup pilot in the Bell X-1 program and flew chase for Yeager in a P80 Shooting Star during the first Mach 1 flight.

He was a very personable, quiet guy. Signed a lot of autographs for the kids.

He's got to be in his mid 80's by now.

  • He is actually in his early ninties i believe incredible pilot perhaps the best stick and rudder pilot ever.

  • he's 87. born January 1922.

  • i was nervous @5:47 when no engines are on,, but he made it, he complete the roll,, what an amazing pilot.

  • God Bless Him.....

  • best pilot ever

  • I Talked with him several times ,a true Gentleman.Very nice guy.I live near him In Socali. The last time was at Santa Monica airport DC-3 Commemoration.

  • I was lucky enough to see the great Bob Hoover at an airshow years ago. Always mind-bogglingly beautiful to watch this skilled master in his Shrike.

  • hi , i knw that wt bob hoover does is magic , but in this video we can that when starting the right engine , he pushes the left throtle for restarting the right engine ?

  • wish someday im gonna reach his level

  • Thank you sooooooo much 4 this Video, heard so much about Bob Hoover but never saw him fly ! Heard the story about the FAA wanting to take away his Pilot License because he was over 80! LOL , he should have invited them 4 a short Flight! the greatest pilot from the greatest country !.... Greetings from Germany

  • Saw Hoover once, years ago at the Livermore, CA. airshow... Flew this plane, and flew his P-51 Mustang, too.

Dude is NOT a pilot; he's a freaking MAGICIAN!

    Absolutley awesome.

  • This man sparked my inerest in aerobatic flight when I was very young watching him at the Reno Airraces. Hats off to you Bob!

  • what an amazing pilot totally at one with his aircraft

  • The hat doesnt fall ? jejejej

  • The hat doesn't fall because these are all positive-G maneuvers: barrel roll, loop, etc.

  • the best pilot of the world. no questions!!!

  • There was another video like that here in Youtube, but it showed Bob since the engine start. I tried to find it but i couldn't. Do you know where it is..? Thanks!

  • Bob flyes his plane like Jerry Garcia plays his guitar: one body...one soul...
