@ripousse One day we had 39 cents a tree !! But only managed to plant 300 lol... Rockiest ground I have ever seen in my life .. They cut the trees in those places and think its going to regrow .. THERES NO DIRT LEFT
@xAdaMx117 Haha that made me laugh a lot I planted in deerdale too and ion Vnacouver island .. On the island we planted some 4's !! In deerdale I'm guessing you were planting 10 or 11's .. Also don't forget the plot is done in an horizontal plane and it's WAY steeper
lol, y r they all wearing hard hats? they are in the open field, not a tree around to fall. Is it for protection from bird poop from the sky,lol Nice video though...heard its one of the most physical jobs out there.
Y'all sure do it different up there. All the planting here (southeast U.S.) is done by crews from Mexico or Guatemala. They use a dibble bar or a hoe-dad.
stay 7 feet apart assholes! haha i plant in deersdale NB, one of the roughest places to tree plant. the skinny shovels, they are called spades which rocks my sweaty work socks. the pottiputkis are just way too slow; spring mechanism always breaks, dirt always gets clogged in the mouth, and you can pretty much only use it with just one arm so expect at the end of the summer to have one arm completely jacked than the other lol.
Cream! and your milling about with Pottiputki's!? Unfuckingbelievable.. shovel planting is the only way to go.. a BC planter would have no problem throwing in 3 or 4 thousand in that land a day... I know a few who would probably do close to 6k -- Fact.
god i miss this tranquility. can anyone tell me how to do get hired? I'm a 26 yr old quebecois, full time student.., remote area experience + grew up in the bush and this is where i belong. thanks
bahahaha, this is a joke!! no screafing, probs all duff shots, no bending over, big possibility of shallows, and a big cluster fuck... sweet life (NAT)
you people that plant in ontario are a disgrace! no quality standards whatsoever.. you'd get eaten alive in BC no question...and what the hell is that gun thing? pretty embarrassing!
@16snacks depends which company - I worked for PRT and it was with a shovel all the way - quality was somewhere around 90% - had a few people from BC - good planters but found it hard because we didn't cattle plant.
this company is a joke don't ever work for them, they team plant areas and it if you have a foreman who isn't pro than you are fucked, work for a real company that is not run by a lumber company
holly shit does anyone know how to plant with a shovel this is pitiful. I do partner planting but not a fucking cluster fuck. This is terrible and so slow!!!
have these ever been tried in slashy areas, I never see them used in bc silviculture, I have heard many different reasons. I wonder how they would work though.
i plant more then thirty8 hunderd trees a day and we dont use those funny looking shovels we use the real shovels we stab the ground like it was butter none of this pussy planting first time seeing sum1 plant lke that hahahahaha native planters rule ;)
fuckin millson forestry is still paying the same when i worked ther 26 years ago its 2009 now i planted 3800 trees in a day for them and at the end of the year they kept 600 dollars of my money because i missed more than 10 % of the work year was supposed to be 63 day plant and the y cut it to 59 dats just so they could rip off the workers who took 6 days off .and if one dat u dont plant 500 trees u get deducted 1 cent for every singls tree u plant for the year RIP OFF COMPANY MILSON FORESTRY
you don't want one they suck I used one for week with this company then quit because the company is garbage and went elsewhere in N. Ontario and was much happier, use a shovel not a pottiputki
@goforg They get really hard on the shoulders though. A lot of the guys on our crew just used them to dibble because it's faster. They do plug up a lot, depending on the soil, and I broke the lever off four of them in under a month. Everyone who had used spades before said they would rather stick with spades, but we weren't allowed since guns cut down on J-root.
So THAT'S how those tools work. Never even seen one before.

Damn that is pure cream if you had a real shovel you can just run thru that land. Id ask for a 5K peice n smash it in one day with a normal shovel.

I'm so glad that I plant in BC and not Ontario. That looks so dumb. Why is everyone so close together. And to not use a shovel. . .

You are not helping the environment when you do this. You are just moving a tree. If you really want to help the environment, grow a tree from seed.

I own a hand planting company and have never seen the tools your using there to plant. What are they called and how well do they work ??
rockyburch 3 years ago
The tool is called a Pottiputki.
Great for planting tree seedlings. Planter can plant 2000 in a day depending on the site. Never have to bend over when you are good.

TheBrassHole 2 years ago
Well start wiping your ass with your hand and it will. ;)
If this is ontario, a huge precentage of these trees went to pulp for shit-tickets.
P.s. Pottioputkis are unbelievably slow compared to shovels.

@goforg Or you could man up and use a d-handle, staff if you are a pussy, and plant 3000 in a day like a man.
tadernuts 7 months ago
@goforg even in northern ON, 2000/day is not great.. I thought pottiputkis were supposed to speed the process up...
