Just wanted to shout out to you many cudoes for being able to tell your story- I'm still way too emotional to talk freely like you. My husband of 25 years passed away from non- Hodgkins lymphoma with aplastic anemia, and our daughter (a survivor) was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in 1994. I like others who have posted have experienced the lost of my brother to AML and he was 34 when he died in Oct 2007 and we lost a 15 yr old cousiin in Sept 2008 to Osteosarcoma after she battled for over 3 years. I remember the day that Troy's hair really started coming out and he hated it as he had beautiful hair and he also decided it was time to shave his head. I remember it like yesterday and miss him so much! You are a brave women. God Bless!

I am not Edwars or Mark...I am Mike...My wife of 25 years, Lisa, passed away in July 2008, after an eight year battle with breast cancer. Kelly mentioned her silver earrings. I buried my Lisa with her 25th wedding anniversary gift, her silver earrings. In as much as you women who suffer appreciate your husbands, We too appreciate and love you as well. You are our heroes. You suffer the treatments for your families, and inspire us Men, who secretly wish that we too were as strong as all of you.

I had cancer at 34. Besides the moment of diagnosis, shaving my hair because of chemo was one of the most traumatic moments of my life. I have a husband who loves me, but was not there for me during cancer, for some reason. You are right. Your husband is really good at it. You are blessed.

Thank you for this, I lost my mother to CA when I was 28, and I had no idea what she may have gone. I do now and can understand, a bit, and cry for what I wasn't there for.

I too am a daughter of a man who I describe as larger than life and resembles your dad in his personality. My dad died on October 9 of this year after surrendering to a diagnosis of AML. You are a wonderful story teller and your words allowed me to tap right into my emotions. God Bless you!

Kelly - thank you so much for putting your heart into this. Two of my neighbors are cancer survivors. One is going through it again. I introduced them to eachother, after being told by one; "chemo is the easy part. How hard reality hits once it's over is the hardest, and can put you in the worst depression. THAT is when I needed God, Family and friends the most." I pray I never go through it, but am glad to know there are amazing women like you who can find a way to lift up others.Bless You.

Kelly, I related to everything you said, especially the shower. I found that the shower was my haven to loose it. My daughter had such a hard time, she was in 5th grade and hated the way I looked. She did not want any one to see me.

I sat here and cried listening to you. Its been 2 yars since I found out I had cancer. It is amazing how the "sameness" is for many of us. Lynn

This really hit me. I just shaved my head yesterday. I was diagnosed with Central Nervous System Lymphoma in June. It was a rare type of lymphoma and I was given 3 months to live. I beat the odds! I went through 2 months of chemo and have an omaya resevoir in my head for treatments. My mother shaved my head yesterday in her kitchen. I feel liberated, because I made the decision and didn't wait for it all to fall out. I need to get this book.
