Great pairing, too, because ABC was the longtime owner of Detroit's WXYZ-TV and radio. That helped ABC gain a special insight to just how important the auto industry was to broadcasting in terms of revenue and promotion. I'm reasonably certain there were regular, face-to-face meetings back in the day between ABC execs and the top cats at Ford, GM, Chrysler and American Motors, whether those meetings took place in Detroit or New York City, or perhaps somewhere else. BTW, I miss the Cougar!
