I think this really inspires little children who dreams of flying into the stars and cosmos of space. Buzz Lightyear has been my inspiration since Toy Story first came out and it makes me think that if Toys do come alive, that Buzz Lightyear is a lucky one, who actually lives up to his name, as an astronaut. When children see this, who are big fans of John Lasateer's iconic character it makes them want to dream. and now they can dream big by watching their iconic figure go "To infinity & beyond"
Now that's a great movie: no special effects and Buzz is still flying! lol It costs 10000$ to launch 1 kg into space. That Buzz is worth lots of money now!!! lol
Shortee.... You're missing the point of the exercise. Its aimed at kids. Its all about visual association and trying to get kids interested in science and space in general.
When I showed this clip to my son, he had a bunch of questions afterwards and it got him thinking. I think this is what the guys n gals in nasa/pixar/disney were trying to achieve. You can be sure as hell that if it was about promoting that new Walle movie, they'd have had that dumb toy there instead.
Besides, I think this must have been kinda fun for the crew of the shuttle. FFS, every second of every day up there is a fucking thousand times more stressful for them than YOU could even begin to comprehend... This was a fun tangent for them and I hope they enjoyed it.
Why dont you go take your angry psycho babble somewhere else.... eh?
It was aimed at kids - my kids enjoyed it.... mission accomplished.
This is proof enough don't you think? How much do you pay these guys to put a fucking Disney character in outer space? LOOK AT IT! Do I fucking care that a movie that was made several years ago is not doing well so the investors of Disney who are essentially politicians, which explains the bizarre subliminal sexual content in some of the Disney films, try to revise a film in order to recoup some more financial loss! Yeah it's really cute to waste time and money.
first off, Buzz Lightyear is a Pixar character, was before Disney bought the company. Second off, where have you been? the entire movie industry is based off of making money. Sure there are a few people who actually want to share creative ideas, but to do that they need the money to create them and do them justice. Thirdly, why so angry? It was a joke, a moment of entertainment to the astronaughts.
Its not like you are the epitomy of cleanliness and preservation. Do you think that if we all followed your example that the world would be saved and we'd live happily ever after? It's not the fault of those who are working in the space frontier now are responsible for the foundations that were set up years ago. Besides, since when has honesty gained more than well placed lies when it comes to public image? Didn't you pay any attention in history class?
You picked the wrong place to take out your anger on NASA and apparently Disney. You are just ranting and not doing anything if you really care so much about it start a protest, don't just surf videos online that have practically nothing to do with your little issue. Don't ruin the small joy people get from this with your negativity. Also, swearing profusely will get you nowhere if you really want to contend with NASA.
I was impressed by the video. The toddlers who saw the movie in 1995 are now entering college, to study medicine and engineering. I am certain that more than a few children who followed Buzz's exploits on the ISS will follow him 'to Infinity .. and Beyond"

LOL right now they are tossing out their Pixar Buzz toys and Woodys while wondering why the hell their parents wasted so much money on such crap. The only place Buzz is going is back to the vault of Disney shit.
What stupidity to think that we can live on any other planet that we were not born on! What stupidity to waste so much money on a program that has not benefited anyone! We have books full of philosophers that tell us what the planets look like and what they are composed of so - NO SHIT! Thanks for causing more pollution in the only place that was pure just to show me what we already know from wise people's research on earth! I really appreciate the debt and embarrassment yet again!
@shortee4204real "We have books full of philosophers that tell us what the planets look like and what they are composed of"
Did you know we'd never seen the other side of the moon before we went to space? That if we actually found another planet we could live on, the space programs would be a godsend if the planet went into a state of dire emergency?
Would you REALLY rather die? If so, you must've already went through the five stages of grief. Good luck with that, dude.
So useful for us to see photoshopped pictures of nebula explosions and to watch crappy touched up videos of rovers ruining the surface of planets, gathering dirt! One day we are going to live on Mars after we somehow create an ecology then when we fuck up this planet and make it uninhabitable, we can go fuck up some more! Americans just smile and act like you have the IQ of at least a cockaroach because after our nuclear plants explode they will be the only ones left!
So how many satellites does this country have that are dead and floating around in space like dumpsters? What was the point in planting a flag on the moon? Oh it must have been paranoia that Russia would waste their time and energy to build high tech military equipment in outer space, of course that is such a logical presumption! Then to say that there were scientists in the U.S. who created the space program without essentially stealing the idea from Russia is pure ignorance and haughtiness.
Another pointless research that has wasted billions of dollars by the United States in attempts to be less jealous of Russia's original space program which, by the way, they are in no debt from, and gathered useful information which, also by the way, has been far more useful than the needless space junk the U.S. has along with the pollution left in space which again Russia has left none, so what is the fucking point in putting a Disney character in outer space again?
So, now I see that Disney was cross promoting NASA with the Wall-E Movie and now, they have the Toy Story cross promo too? Great idea! Next is Mickey in outer space!
Buzz lightyear fits perfectly in space! Because he is an astronaut!
