As far as I know from history, Osetians are very different from Georgians. Georgia borders were drawn by USSR without taking into account that Georgia may get independence some day. When it got it, immediately the Georgian war against Osetians elapsed in 1991 and Russia had to interfere.
And Saakashvili claims in CNN interview that it was realy Russian troops who killed thousands of Ossetians, - I guess this is why ossetians have fled the fighting into Russia.
The Gori was the place with most concentration of advanced Georgians forces. And this is why have been put under attack. I am very sorry for civilian casualties in Gori, but number of those does not stay clouse to what happaned in Tsehenvali.

As far as I know from history, Osetians are very different from Georgians. Georgia borders were drawn by USSR without taking into account that Georgia may get independence some day. When it got it, immediately the Georgian war against Osetians elapsed in 1991 and Russia had to interfere.

Genocide is the intent to destroy a people in whole or in part. I don't think anyone believes that the Georgians were attempting to destroy the civilian population of Ossetians. Ossetians are simular ethnically to others in Georgia but no action has been taken against them. This is about recovering control of part of their country. I didn't do the second quote lol - I support Russia in this conflict and have used IRAQ and Yugoslavia in my arguments against the US.
