What really pissed me off about cash for clunkers was all the old ford trucks cashed in. I mean come on, the old fords are great well built trucks. Any cars from the Cash For Clunkers program, dealerships were ordered to destroy them or face criminal charges. Your classic Cadillacs, tough Ford trucks that would last years upon years, the Griswold-style woodie station wagons, all of those were purposely destroyed. The people that traded in a dependable Ford truck just to get a couple of thousand off for a Chinese-made plastic sedan that will only last 3 years tops are complete fucking imbeciles.

this sucks my ford 351w in my car (1968 mustang fastback saved form the clunkers) had over 800k before they almost blew it up i bought it for $1200 opend the engine it was bored 60+ had a lot of pro parts little ware on pistons and all the engine was clean no gunk and the crank case had that nasty stuff htey used to kill it im glad i saved this beauty form the fags so called cash for clunkers
@dragata1 i call b.s. mustangs didnt have a 351 till 1969, but it couldve been swapped. you wouldnt know if it had 800k miles, the odometer doesnt go over 100k. the cars had to be NEWER than 1985. and you wouldve had to pay atleast $3500 to get it as thats what the gov gave the customer towards the trade. learn the facts before you post. and maybe not post total b.s. in the first place? i blew up over 130 cars at my dealer, im sick of yuppies like you acting like you know how it all went down.
@83RS the engine was swapped and the odomter was digital XD not the original dash illl let u know and ive blown alot of engine a 350 440(was no good had a whole in the block) and a lot more the mustang is in ricer shape i dont know why i bought it now rust floor and al the inside has been redone by a fag teen start btoggle thing setup its really sad i plan on restoring it all to original but i may just take the engine and tranny and the whole frame and just trash the body its just sad
@dragata1 still doesnt change the fact that the cars could be no older than an 85. a dealer would never have been approved if they had submitted an 11 digit VIN to the government. nor would a dealer have taken a 50% loss on a car they were about to blow up and get $3500 for. if what your saying is true, a dealer employee likely tricked you by using the C4C program to make you feel sorry for it. but i dont believe any of that story

@dragata1 he very well cuda, i work at a chrysler/mazda/fiat dealer, so i know about most of the requirements for the program. all cars had to be 85 or newer, no exceptions. we had to turn down an 84 elcamino, and i was glad to see that thing get denied. it was a 305, full frame car that was in descent shape. no need to destroy it. i think the program was a damn good idea, it was just a little poorly planned out
@83RS the guy told me the requiremnts was any year but the mpg had to be more then 35 and i dont like the program at all and its not planned at alll lol
I have yet to see even one of these cash for clunkers videos do ANYTHING so as to catch the poisons that they are letting soak into the ground and poisoning the soil . Sure they're having a little. So, why can't they take the responsibility to catch the fluids that are leaing afterwards and dspose of or recycle it properly?
What I don't get is why people would trade in 2 year old cars with high eficiency! People will even trade in older hybrids WOW! But yea small trucks like these with 6 cylinder engines are becoming very populare here.

IE: Salvageagble: Alternator, radiator, doors, tranny, wheels, tires, axles, steering gears, A-arms, struts, fenders, grills, seats, dash, instrument cluster, airbags, windows, headlights, taillights, bumpers, a/c components, egr valves, mass airflow sensors, wiper arms and motor, trunk lids and the list goes on. But yea... you are smarter than me so you would know that stuff already. :)

Somehow, my grandpa managed to blow the radiator hose off a 300 inline. I thought he was exaggerating, but now I've seen it happen.
The truck is still a daily driver.

IE: Salvageagble: Alternator, radiator, doors, tranny, wheels, tires, axles, steering gears, A-arms, struts, fenders, grills, seats, dash, instrument cluster, airbags, windows, headlights, taillights, bumpers, a/c components, egr valves, mass airflow sensors, wiper arms and motor, trunk lids and the list goes on. But yea... you are smarter than me so you would know that stuff already. :)

@XSynbaX Exactly... but waht yu dont seem to realize, is that when you run an engine like that non stop, continuously until the motor seizes or blows, you dont seem to understand what kind of stress the ENTIRE engine is put under. Who would take a radiator out of a CFC car? You realzie revving a car like that can bend the valves, itll tear up the sensors.

Well, there is a pressure release on the botton of the rad, and the rad cap is supposed to go to. This is no example of retardation, the radiator hose just wasnt attached securly. Every time a country has a long period of productivity and wealth, they always fall. Its happend several times with China and at least twice with Great Britian. Saying that people deserve to loose their homes and livelyhoods is just plain cruel, and stop trying to be Rorscarch, you sound no better

My assessment was too harsh and you are right--generations have different challenges and the economy is this one's. Perhaps this next year more people will be able to find jobs and the worst will be over. My father was an Olds/Cadillac dealer from the 20's 'till he died in '58 at the age of 59--he wouldn't have been able to understand today's world, he would not have deliberately destroyed cars for any reason.
