@pieper230674 it's a bolt that was helping to keep the skeleton together (probably the top of the vertebrae to the skull). The skeleton, obviously, was a prop, and the prop department forgot to "disguise" the attachment. Well it was either that or the bolt was part of the fishing line-mechanism that moved the skeleton while it was on the hood of the car. Which is probably the closer explanation.
I don't watch many movies, but all that I have seen, this is my favorite part. Every time I think about trying to take the cheap way out, I tell myself "You should have bought a squirrel." The moral to the story (my opinion) is that it will cost you more in the long run by trying to cut corners and save money. Just "buy the squirrel" and life will be much easier and cheaper.
