God gave his only begotten Son John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." , not His one and only son. We are sons of God when we get saved, John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"
"If God is unable to prevent evil, he is not omnipotent.
If God is not willing to prevent evil, he is not good.
If God is willing and able to prevent evil, then why is there evil? - Epicurus
"Let reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is just myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."
@jda379 evil is the absense of good, just like darkness is the absense of light, it's just like saying darkness is where light is not. i see your point about the omnipotence though. what about free will?
jda379, God is able to prevent evil. God does prevent evil but not all the time because He wants us to have a choice. God did not create evil. God created a good and perfect world. People chose to disobey God thereby introducing evil into the world. God allows us to choose His way or our own. He didn't want to FORCE his creation to obey Him. He wanted us to CHOOSE to obey Him.
@flyingsquirrelj1 You obviously believe there is a god. Is your idea of your god an all-knowing father figure that loves every single person unconditionally, much in the same way you love your own child?
@jda379 I can tell you're trying to lead up to something. Yes. God is all-knowing, Yes God loves everyone unconditionally BUT He hates sin. I think I know what you're about to say.
@jda379 If you're wondering why God doesn't allow everyone to get into heaven, here's the answer. When God created the world, there was no separation between God and man. But because people chose to disobey God, they separated themselves from God.
@flyingsquirrelj1 What people are you referring to that "chose to disobey God"? The thousands of children that will die today from disease or starvation? Or maybe their parents that perhaps "sinned" by conceiving of them? More importantly, what kind of "loving god" creates a so-called "eternal hell" for anything to dwell? These ideas completely contraindicate a loving personality who is in control of things. It instead describes someone vindictive.
@jda379 The people that I am referring to are the first people - Adam and Eve. Hell was created for Satan and his angels because they rejected God's authority. It is also the place for anyone else who rejects God's gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
"Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned" Romans 5:12
@jda379 I don't blame you for having these questions. A lot of people, including myself, have questions like this. Here's a website that I've found to be very helpful for me and people I know.
