  • Yes :) I made my first flower thank you for the video ! Do you have one for crochet a animal hat?

  • Thanks for the video, I've made my first flower that wasn't based on a long starting chain. :)

  • thank you for being there spoiling us with all your joyful handcraft stuff.

  • Thansk for the video. I was reading somebody else recipe to make a flower and it says cast off. So does it need to cast off on flower project.

  • @supermelodia Casting off is a term used in knitting. With crochet you cut and secure your yarn, since most of the time we are working with only one loop on the hook.

  • This must be an old video because this is not like any of your other video's....I am lost at 2:20... I wish you would redo this video like your others where everything is well explained...:(

  • @tosha723 This video is over 4 years old. I am glad you stumbled across the newer videos first. I will keep this tutorial in mind as a remake.

  • Hello! My mom taught me how to make the crochet knot but i learned everything else from you! Now i make scarfs hats and flowers!

  • after the four chains you say, "you go on thru here, chain 3 and then do 9 more double crochet" but you do not clearly show where 'here is' i got to this step and now i am lost. very frustrating.

  • Thank you so much for making this video. I'm making a friend a baby blanket and couldn't not figure out how to make flowers to attach to it. This was very helpful!

  • @XbloodXangelX Thank you.

  • It took me a minute, but I made one while watching this video. Thanks!

  • Thank you so much for this video. I've never been able to get the hang of making flowers until I viewed your patient demonstration. Now I'm adorning all my favorite things with colorful bouquets, having made a dozen or more. Now I have a wonderful way to use my scraps of yarn. Thank you, thank you, thank you...

  • Omg luv it

  • OK, So I don't understand the part at 2:24... you say, "I am going to single crochet in the single crochet in the previous round...." I have backed up and played it again and again to see if I can get it... but alas, I can't. Is that in the loop like the last part of the flower has the petals attached... or is it the first row of chains that I made int he beginning to make the circle? Sorry, I'm too confused... ;0P

  • @aarontankmusic How long have you been crocheting and are you familiar with the basic crochet stitches>

  • @tjw1963 of course she is you have to know the basic stiches to make a chrochet flower

  • thank you it helped very much i wanted to make a flower

  • @Crochet103 Thank you

  • Comment removed

  • you are amazing at crocheting!

  • @DevinCupcake Thank you.

  • I am not even gonna lie, you go TOO FAST!!! You dont really SHOW WHAT TO DO, I'm Lost, for everyone who is NOT SATISFIED please go to a GOOD person's channel: the channel name is crochet

Its really great AND SHE SHOWS YOU oveer and over

  • @MiyahPeaceAndMusic You may not realize that YouTube/Crochet is my channel and I make those tutorials.

  • Amazing. I just made this and attached it to the beret I made from one of your other tutorials. Love it! Keep up the good work!

  • I'm only on the basics the chain and the closing. :P It will take me a while to move on.

  • @airasweetie I sent you the beginner crochet playlist.

  • @airasweetie . How dare you say that to Teresa? She's a master. She has uploaded hundreds of videos and she's the best crochet teacher in youtube! There was no need for rude language...

  • At around 6:15 or so, you say "you just go on through here," but you're holding it so low and the rose is so rumpled that I can't tell where "here" is. I would suggest slowing down or stopping at crucial points to hold the project up to the camera, and make it as flat as possible so one can see exactly where you're pushing the hook through.

I did manage to get everything up to that point just fine though, so YAY I can make incredibly wrinkly roses. ;) (I think I stitch too tight!)

  • @Saichania This video is one of the very first videos I made 4 years ago. I am proud to say that I have improved. The YouTube video player has pause. If that is not enough, I have 700 other videos with extended slow motion. Some of them are newer versions of flowers. If you are new to crochet, I have a very detailed playlist with detailed video tutorials.

  • What a great flower! I'm looking for easy, pretty flowers and yours fits the bill.

  • @ArtfullyDone4U Thank you! You will find a playlist of flowers on my profile page

  • ummmm i got confused when u had like three loops on ur hook?how u got it there

  • i just want to thank you i am a beginner. i have only been doing it for going on two weeks and i have croched a hat with the bill 2 blankets with the granny squares and a pair of earrings. thank you very much

  • @mns0610 I am pleased to hear that you have picked up crochet so quickly! Keep up the good work and practice, practice, practice!

  • This is great, thank you for the instructions. I now have a cute little bag with cute flowers on it :-) also planning on making the flowers into hair clips :-D

  • Thanks for the video. I think it's better for beginners who know crochet technique and know the stitches you mention, but for complete newbies like myself this is a little difficult to follow but certainly doable! I did it :)

  • @cheesepuff87 I will send you a playlist with beginner video tutorials.

  • OH MY GOD I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO MAKE SOMETHING FOR TWO DAYS STRAIGHT AND I NEVER DO IT RIGHT! I DO IT EXACTLY HOW IT SHOWS ON THE VIDEO BUT IT NEVER TURNS OUT RIGHT!

  • @JayNatinc123ism I have another flower tutorial that I am going to send to you. Take a little break but keep practicing. It will make sense.

  • I'm a beginner, and I was able to follow your instructions and was able to do it! It took several starts and stops, mainly because I just kept losing count. Anyway thanks

  • @colourfulgarden It is great to hear that you were successful! Keep practicing and you will get the hang of it all!

  • I've never picked up a crochet hook for 30 years and have never successfully crocheted anything but a chain. I found I could follow this really easily and managed a bonny flower! Thank you.

  • @heathermomo100 I am happy you have had success! You are welcome.

  • Thank you for sharing this. I enjoy your videos and even a beginner can understand this!

  • I've been crocheting since I was 8 yrs old & I don't even RUSH through any piece I make when showing SOMEONE WHO'S never made them before...SHESH slow down or don't bother posting your videos!

  • to be honest.. can you start the begining then tell us how to chain the crochets and that please....cause i think most of us are confused xD!

  • @kagome9035 I have recreated the flower. The annotation link is at the beginning of the video. Just click on the annotation.

  • I can't see your hands they are too low im going to find someone else.

  • @bellalovato7558 There is an annotation at the beginning to another flower.

  • its great I understand all u have to do is look carefully!! love it thanks

  • This is probably the worst video I have seen of yours, and usually I really like them. I can't get past the first minute, because you won't show where the hook is supposed to go.

  • @puzzlesnpieces This was one of the first videos I ever made. I do have other flower tutorials similar to this one.

  • You are the most amazing teacher ever!!! Thank you so much I made a hat with a flower yesterday just by watching your videos, It is my very first attempt ever at crochet! It turned out awesome my teenage girls are fighting over it, lol, I am now working on the puff hat, Do you make Mitts without the fingers?

  • Thanks for the wonderful demo. It was super easy to use, even for a beginner who barely knows what "chain 3" means. My flower looks totally cute, and my toddler is in love with it (and can tell what it is!).

  • i am a knitter and know nothing about crochet. she is going really fast and not explaining where the hook should go in the chain.

  • I used this flower to add detail to the slipper socks I made using your tutorial

  • After the chain I got totally lost. Does anyone know about a tutorial for dummies like me? I really want to crochet a flower, but this is too complicated for me... :(

  • @GuanderGuoman If you are new to crochet, I would recommend that you become familiar with the crochet stitches first before you try a project. Being familiar with the stitches will make this flower much easier.

  • you did a beautiful flower

  • @dimschmipple Thank you.

  • I'm a crochet beginner, and would like to thank you so much for sharing. I've just followed your easy, step by step demo, and my flower has turned out beautifully. I could knit and sew for England, but now I'm 'hooked' on crochet.

    Thank you again.

  • @writwrite1 You are welcome. I appreciate the comment.

  • very nice. i was wondering what to top my little toilet paper roll hat holder thing with, and i just might use this one :)

  • it was really easy for me to make this flower following your video. thank you sooo much!!!

    Mercy Rivera

  • @dancer8164 I sent you another flower which may be better to understand.

  • wow! your super tallented!! :)

  • What is slip stitch? Are there any videos that are for actual beginners?

  • @spruce000007 It is great to hear your success with the flower. I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • Thank you for teaching how to crochet such a beautiful flower. Also give ideas to make some little changes, I feel so grateful for your knowledge and the will you have in sharing it with us.

    Gracias again,

    Nini from Peru

  • @limamanta Thank you, I appreciate the comment.

  • yeah I can't see because you are going too fast and your fingers are in the way... I understand this is a demo and not a tutorial... but yeah why post if its not clear...

  • @JustPhotoKyle Did you click on the flower playlist posted at the beginning of the video? Since this video was made, YouTube had provided longer time limits and larger file sizes so I am no longer limited to 10 minutes as I was with this video 3+ years ago.

  • gr8!

  • I must have rewound and replayed this video about 20 times, but I finally finished my first flower. I am using a really plush wool yarn so I realized I only needed 5 dc instead of 10. I redid it and added on a second layer with minimal problems. Your video is great. This makes me sooo happy. I can't wait to go to the store to buy more yarn and more hooks. :)

  • @10Boomer9 Thank you for mentioning the adjustment that you made with your yarn. Sometimes it is necessary to modify with different types of yarn.

  • I love this flower! I just made one to put on a baby headband I making to match a dress I made for my little cousin :-]

THANKS FOR POSTING THE PATTERN :-D

  • You are welcome. :)

  • I love this pattern. I just may try it.

  • Thank you. :)

  • Thanks a lot. After I noticed that you were using American instructions. I used your flowers and they came out beautifully. I am writing from Malta an island in the Mediterranean.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • You are welcome. All instructions I do will be with American standards.

  • Thank you so much. You make understanding complicated text patterns so easy. Seems like you have found your lifes purpose. Certainly have brought alot of joy to alot of people.

  • You are welcome. It really does feel like a life purpose. Thank you for saying that, I appreciate it.

  • i like your work really nice :)

  • just finished this flower! attached it to a hat I made last week.

thanks so much for being so generous with your knowledge, especially for us that need the visual....

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Ok I have a question that is not pertaining to this video but when I was reading a crochet pattern It said work in back loops. What di they mean

  • If you look at the top of each stitch, you will see two loops. One to the front of the stitch. One on the back of the stitch. The instructions are telling you to work in the back loop only. I will send you a link for a video I made showing what is meant.

  • I liked a lot

I am a junior and I learned a lot from you now

I thank you for that because I enjoyed

    Saudi Arabia

  • You are welcome. I appreciate your comment.

  • On my Coats intstruction book the stitch you are using when doing the first petals is a treble not a double stitch. The flower is beautiful.

  • Here in America we call it a double crochet. You may have a book made for the country that you live in. Unfortunately without a standard for crochet stitches across the globe, it creates a lot of confusion between countries.

  • Can you please demonstrate how to do a reverse shell? I am using my husbands you tube....don't want people thinking he is into crochet....he would freak. Anyway, my pattern from the coats and clark book I am using says this.....insert hook from back to front to back around post of st indicated, draw loop through, 7 times, yo and draw through all 8 loops on hook. I can't figure it out no matter how hard I try. No luck searching the internet either.

  • how to do the slip stitch ???

  • I sent you video links on how to a slip stitch.

  • i just can't do a double stich yet.

  • If you click on my main channel, you will find a playlist with basic crochet stitches. It has the double crochet in slow motion.

  • Thanks!

Now I know how to decorate my hats :)

    Hilla

    Tel-aviv, Israel

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Thank you so much for this video! Now i am more aware of the procedure, and i co do flowers! *yay*

    Thanks again!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • This has to take a great level of humility and concentration. This is very educational for me in a lot of areas. Thank you, sister:)

    Bro David

  • Thank you David. I am very grateful that you wrote.

  • ummm when you chain three do you do your single crochet in the middle hole or in the next stitch? theres is this part when you finish chaining three and you now join it to what? i couldnt understand that part. plzz help

  • What is the time code that you need help with?

  • This is great, but I wish you could do it slightly slower - it's hard to see where the hook goes each time.

  • Every video I do now has a good amount of slow motion in it now. Back when I first started I was limited by a 10 minute time limit. A lot of tutorials are 30 minutes now.

  • thanks ive only just started chochet and you have been a great help to me as i don't understand the books ☺

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Thank you very much for replying on my reqest so soon, I am not in America, I am from Bahrain ( Middle east). I tried e.bay but was not able to find any. If you have any sights that you know please let me know I want to try the flowers that you are doing it will help me alot I will try other sights again.

  • I would like to buy crochet hooks what size you would recomend me to buy and I would like to know if you can help me because I cannot find enough sizes in my country as I found only size 1.6 or 1 the large sizes are not available, and on lines will not be sent to my country I would like to know if you can help me in finding all sizes

  • I would recommend a size "H" or "I" aluminum hook. Have you tried E-bay. A lot of people here in America will ship overseas.

  • for your second petal, you say to do 10 more single crochet.. but then you do 10 more double crochet?

might just be my mistake, I am very new to this.

thanks for this video though, it is kind of fast but if I keep on pausing and playing the video I can keep up all right.

  • Fortunately you did double crochet. Single crochet would just be another flower petal variation. The written and symbol instructions are on my crochet blog so you can double check if you ever think something is not correct.

  • You go way to fast for me to keep up.

  • This is one of my original videos before size and time restrictions were lifted. At one point I only had a 10 minute time limit and 100 mb in video size. I would like to invite you to check out some of the other crochet video's that are much longer and have slow motion. Once you become advanced, you can come back to this video. I will mention that you are able to stop, pause and rewind. It is not necessary to crochet at the speed that I do in the video.

  • I just want to say your videos are VERY helpful. I made a flower like the one in this video, but I can't really see where exactly you crochet to make the second one. I came up with a different way and it looks about the same. Do u have any more videos about crochet?

  • Thank you. I have 220+ crochet video tutorials. You can find them on my main crochet channel.

  • I have to tell you what I have done with this flower design. I took Red, White, and Green yarn that has the silver thread running through it, it is called Christmas yarn, or something. Anyway, I make a layer of each color and tie it to the gifts I have wrapped. Makes a perfect Christmas "bow" for those smaller boxes.

  • It sounds very pretty.

  • its too fast for me to keep up with!

  • It is not necessary for you to keep up with the video. You can pause and even rewind to watch a part over and over again.

  • YOUR videos are amazing. I wish Icould keep them as a reference.GREAT WORK

  • Thank you. You can favorite them on Youtube.

  • I think Im going to start crocheting again. I just turned 14 and Ive been crocheting for 3 years. :]

I miss it.. I was working on a nice baby blanket.

  • Keep at it. Have you finished the baby blanket?

  • Nope, Im still working on it. :] It looks lovely so far.

_+ Thanks for the videos, I love them! :]

  • Hi Theresa :) I've done a flower with these instructions, but I'm finding that after DCing 10 times in that little bitty 3-chain hole, the bulk start hanging over/covering up the next 3-chain hole. I ended up doing a 7-chain circle, and 5 5-chains slip-stitched to the circle to see if making it bigger helped. It sort of did!

I'm still very new, and I'm sure that's part of the problem, but do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much!!

  • There is a little secret to the tighter holes. I hope this will make sense. When the stitches start getting to close, you grasp the chain in one hand and the stitches in the other hand and give them a big tug back so they pull away from the first stitch.

  • Okay, that makes sense! I'll try again tonight, and keep tucking the petals back as I go along. I'd love to try the second set of petals too. Maybe I'll e-mail you a picture if it comes out okay.

Thanks again for all your help, and amazing videos!

  • can you do it with an aluminum crochet hook size 6

  • You can make it with any size hook that you would like to use.

  • can you find crochet hooks on target

  • You are welcome. I appreciate your comments.

  • Thank you so much for your simple and clear instructions! I am just learning to crochet, and I decided to start from something simple. I made this flower, and I like the result. Happy crocheting! :)

PS still stuck with the granny square - I know how to crochet the middle part but not sure how to go on... Anyway, the granny square will be my next step.

  • I do have several slow motion tutorials for the granny square.

  • very nice; neat and clear tutorial!

  • omg u lost me by the double stitch

im gonna learn a few things then come bach hehe

it looks super easy though thx alot

  • Thank you. :)

  • another excellent video. i have just finished my first flower to sew on my daughters beanie.

I couldnt easily follow the pattern in my book so i wouldnt have been able to do it without this video. thanks again!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Thank you! Looks I need more yarn because I want to add more to it lol..

  • You are welcome. :)

  • It looks so pretty, I'm crocheting a scarf.. I would like to make flowers to put on it how do I sew it on? Would I have to start in the middle?

  • You leave a long length of tail, get a tapestry needle and sew it where you would like it.

  • Ah thank you for making a video of how to crochet a flower, i bought a book but it confuses me to no end!!! I love visual aid ^^ please keep continuing to upload video's!

  • Thank you.

  • Do you have a video where you show how to combine colors? As in... how to use multiple balls of yarn with different colors?

  • I don't have a video up but I have one in the works. You will use yarn bobbins when changing colors in the middle of the row.

  • oooo cool vids im 15 and just starting to croshet i will hopefully use your vids later on.

  • Thanks so much, I just don't quite understand crochet patterns and this makes it so much easier for me to understand.

  • You are wecome. :)

  • Thanks for your great tutorials. I worked through several of them last night.

One question. When you're single crocheting, I can't see what you're single crocheting TO. Are you SCing through the center of the loop? Through a single link in the loop? The position of your hands and the angle of the camera make it difficult for me to tell. Any clarification would be much appreciated!

  • It is through the center of the loop. There are written and symbol instructions on my crochet blog. You can find the link to the right of the video under "More Info"
