  • The last question. How long SSD would be faster then HDD.

  • الي جاي من محمد اكس راقل لايك

  • no really what if I| work on site ?? vibrations etc

  • Tx you for adding the sound :)

  • that has to be the lamest slowest boot time my regular hdd boots up in 34 seconds wtf

  • the bigger diferences is the price...

  • THANK YOU!! :D

  • Well, for my home computer I use four 160GB Hard Disk Drives using RAID 10. On my gaming computer I use two 500GB Solid State Drives using RAID 0. If you guy's didn't know it already Solid State Drives will get smaller and slower as time progresses. But if your going to be upgrading ( like I do with my gaming PC ) then SSD's are for you, if not and you just need somewhere to store information/picture/documents ( home PC )then HDD's are for you.

  • SSD used in this video is very slow...

  • Loved the vibration test :)

  • if ssd is superior, why isn't it more widely used?

  • price and capacity ssds only go up to about 256gb and that drive would cost around $200

  • @wiebed1 It's much more expensive, not sure if idijij replied to you or not

  • @wiebed1 price, 2tb hard drive= 100 dollars give or take. 1tb ssd= 3000-4000 dollars

  • WTF is with the vibration test? Since when do people stick their HDD/SSD into a paint mixer?

My brand new laptop with A HDD only takes 8 seconds to boot up into Windows 7. I don't need a SSD thank you.

The music is ear rape too. Thanks!

  • @autonomous2010

I heard there was real advantage to SSDs, but they are still pretty expensive for much less capacity.

  • @autonomous2010 Clearly lying since WIndows 7 has a poor boot up time and even Microsoft have admitted that. Fastest WIndows 7 Boot was 23 seconds, post your start-up on the inernet with raw footage then I will believe you

  • @Partianz My Home PC run's 24/7 with 4 HDD's. Honestly, who cared how fast your computer boots up, I spend more time driving than booting up but you don't see me dropping 100,000$ on some car that goes 140+ MPH.

  • when there are strong electro magnet, ssd tend to fail

  • This is even in 2007, now they have TRIM, they are cheaper, they are faster, they can hold more data.

  • YAY! Napoleon Dynamite music!

  • lol @ vibration test...I guess it was to show how the HDD spinning disk plate comes apart under pressure

  • Hauptsache meine Kiste läuft, ich geb doch kein vermögen für ein paar GB aus

  • And I thought a vibrator was a size of a hand

  • @XAnImEzLoVeRX

idiot. save up buy an ssd see for yourself.

go read some reviews at least

by 2,3 seconds you mean for every action? actually it only takes me 2 seconds to launch photoshop and a 15mb raw image. the same takes 15 seconds on hdd.

  • SSD is not good for gaming and HDD is far better for gaming

SSD has very good read speeds which is like almost instant, but the write speed for an SSD is very slow, far slower than a HDD write speed

HDD write speeds are just as fast as its read speeds if you buy a 10,000rpm drive, you will have very good read and Write speeds with far better storage and far better costing

if you buy a SSD, it will cost alot for a small amount of storage and its write speed is really bad so only good for OS

  • @XAnImEzLoVeRX

SSD loads game, scene, maps much faster

which ssd you have used that writes slower than any hdd?

hdd 1000rpm is only fast accessing sequential data, random data (which is the majority of real usage) involves too much disc spinning which is exempted in SSD.

again most ssd models write faster than any hdd, random data espeically.

the cost matters if you cant afford. but the performance is worth.

  • @jiuhb false and you are wrong, SSD write speeds are really bad, and i dont just own a few SSD's but I've been in the field long enough to tell you that SSD is not as good as HDD in gaming

here, how about you think of a Flash drive being a SSD (which it is), Flash drives have pretty good read speeds but when adding data to it, its really slow

in gaming, newer games always are writing data to the drive, if you are writing data to an SSD during gaming, your gonna experience lag

  • @jiuhb also, Gaming HDD's are now these days are fitted with good heat sinks and noise cancellation

and they now have drives that run at 15000rpm which competes with an SSD

also, these HDD's are cheaper ... by far better write speeds and they compete with the read speeds of SSD's (in saying that HDD's are only few 2-3 seconds behind)

also, newer HDD's are getting far more reliable, so having moving parts inside doesn't really matter because they ain't going to break down anytime soon

  • @XAnImEzLoVeRX nope you're wrong.

  • @Duantuideguaiwu yes, your right about me saying that HDD's have better write speeds

but, HDD's are getting more reliable, cheaper, bigger and more user friendly (sound and heat wise) over the few years

have a look at this drive: WD VELOCIRAPTOR 600GB 10000/32MB/SATA3

that drive is only 300 basically, why buy a SSD when i could buy two of these drives, and it would cost the same for one SSD

also, the drive i told you about has the fitted heat sinks that i talked about

  • @XAnImEzLoVeRX What about power consumption? Two 10K rpm hdd would annihilate battery life in a laptop as well as add tons of weight.

  • @Duantuideguaiwu lol, i wasnt talking about a HDD in a Laptop, lol, of course a SSD would be good in a laptop

no, i was talking about Desktops hence why i said "Gaming HDD" because why would a gaming HDD be in a laptop

i know the main topic was laptops, but i was in a different world at the time

  • @jiuhb i know that HDD is slowed down by random data, but it does little difference, considering an HDD's read and write speeds are basically the same and SSD's have really bad write speeds, you will experience more lag with an SSD than a HDD

HDD's are like only 2-3 seconds behind if comparing an SSD to a 10000-15000rpm HDD

  • V nice sara7a Just! i think SSD Very expensive

  • ok in case of hearthquake, ssd never fail!

  • That Peluca tune.

  • here's a good question witch wastes more battery hdd or ssd i think ssd will take less

  • this video was jest what I was looking for. thanks

  • windows sucks, ssd on mac osx boots up in 11 seconds

  • @virginboy92 I know right? I remember last night when I was playing Oblivion- oh wait a minute...

  • Comment removed

  • lol people... its NOT about shaking... its about hitting... if you hit it by accident you might get the hdd to stop working... its not because the video show it shaking that the practical experience GOTTA be the same thing. its like a test of how much impact it can take.... the impact force is growing slowly with the test of the video.... I think a little hit in the notebook wouldn't make it stop working... but shit happens right?

  • yeah 1:10 is so funny xD

Why would anyone want to shake live electrical components like that anyhow?? Bound to cause problems!

  • Napoleon Dynamite!

  • Nice, clear and detailed test. Thanks for doing this!

  • 1:10 lol :DDD

  • the test is inconclusive. they should have tested the different drives on the same computer to get conclusive and non-arguable results

  • Begin the sex test at 1:13 LOL

  • I have a 64GB SSD (Can't afford much more storage) I use that as my boot drive, and I install ALL my games programs files etc. On it then I transfer all my games on my SSD to my 320GB HDD overnight. I do this cause I usually can't wait to play a PC game when I get one, Like SW: EaW :p

  • Guys.. Except you've got a shitload of money you won't be able to afford an SSD over let's say 100-200GB of capacity. (Some can't even afford that)

My reccomendation to anyone who wants faster loading w/o much money is to buy a let's say 64GB SSD for 100-120 euros (Sorry, European guy here) and install Windows on it and have the data and all other files on a HDD. It will result in a (much) faster loading/booting and you don't have to spend your whole life-savings at once :D

  • if you 'really' want the best storage at the moment, go get yourself a bunch of cheap 7200 rpm 2tb server drives and stick them in raid 0

i have a single 7200 rpm spinpoint 2tb drive and it gives me a continuous 120 mb/s write

you could get 4 of them for the price of a single 200 mb/s ssd

if you shop around a bit you can get them as low as £35 a piece.

and get twice the performance on large file writes and so much storage you'll never fill it!

obviously for a laptop you'd go for an ssd tho!

  • Can someone please tell me what the heck is a vibration test? Is that if a laptop drops or something?

  • @Nicoooooooooooole

I for one have my laptop on the dashboard of my car....that is a Lotus Elise with a particular hard setup.

  • ok... so you do realize that shaking a HDD like that with it spinning at 5000-10000 rpm can make it shatter..... good job

  • @Reb10101 isnt that the point?

  • In sweden a 512 gb ssd costs 2000$ + and im not paying that for just a hdd for that i cold get 3.6tb of velociraptor or a decent computer

  • @znile1 det är meningen att du ska ha 2st, 1 ssd där du har Photoshop, dataspel t.ex. och 1hdd där du dumpar alla bilder och annat värdelöst...

  • @TheShootHappy Still need about 200gb ssd in that case...

  • @znile1 Why 200GB??? better buy 64gb SSD and 500gb HDD or more (how much do you need) put OS and Programs on SSD and files, videos, pictures, games etc. on HDD and you get still very fast PC

  • how about some SSD wear-out tests ?

  • 1:23 That hdd is fucked, it got a hard head crash, but l like the music !!

  • Thumbs up for the Napoleon Dynamite music :)

  • Fail test. Low RPM 2.5 VS SSD...? Use something more price comparative. Try a 15k SAS next time.

  • I can buy one more notetbook if I change my 500GB HDD to a same volume SSD...

And please don't use that shit camera...

  • @240peter You shouldn't. It's a waste of money. Get a SSD to boot your comp and use startup programs etc. and use an HDD to store data to =] Saves lot's of the good ol' moneh.

  • @WK010 I hope I can put 2 HDD in my notebook....

  • @240peter A problem with an SSD is.. Removing data. The best program/utility/whatever to do that.. Leaves 4% of the data behind. That is too much.

  • @WK010 You mean after a few times I remove the data, my SSD will be usless?

  • @240peter Nope. The problem is, that it is incredibly hard to remove data on it. So please, don't put any important private data/information on it. As it doesn't use a magnetic field to store data on, which an HDD uses. You can crush an HDD, and the data will be gone forever. You can crush an SSD, and it's still possible to extract data from it.

  • @WK010 Thank you for your advice, WK010, so a HDD should be better at this time unless there is some program to remove the data in a SSD forever

  • @240peter No problem ;)

  • u have a shit ful camera

  • why by an ssd if a hard drive is just a few second slower, 'waste of money i say'

  • i'd NEVER buy one as my main drive. I'd throw all my media (vids + music) on an old HDD or something, because SSD cost a lot. . .

  • @dreadhawk123 yea but in time they will come down in price.

I'm sure by next year or the year after at the latest it will be the norm to have a SSD as main on all new computers, and then a few years after probably for any secondary too

  • not worth the price? look at it this way 50inch plasma tv 3 years ago cost 2300 dollars now you can get it for 900 dollars need i say anymore.

  • @MrShitrope that's how all technology practically works, buy the time you can afford an SSD they'll have something newer and better.

  • it is faster but not worth the price

  • @jamesspitfire Except in some cases they can work for longer than a regular hard drive, you can drop them and still use them, and they apparently run cooler..... Still not worth it?

  • @DeltaPhi79 no

  • @jamesspitfire So you would rather have slower access times (unless you put the HDDs in Raid 0 and have really GOOD ones), possibly 1/10 or at least 1/3 the lifespan, and less durability to save maybe $100?

  • @DeltaPhi79 NOT worth the price

  • it is not nessersarley ture of this as you can tweak you system to give th same or i should say close to the same responce with a standered harddrive. for the tiney diference thare actuley is its not worth the money for ssd and on top of that ssd drives fail for offten. under high use or if you get the dreded ssd virus then the drive is shot and not fixable.

  • So expensive but im gonna get a 60GB anyways. I dont save anything really but games and addons ext. I dont need that much space. but still $100.00 :D. Hope its worth it.

  • wish my hdd would shut down in just 13 secs... LOL

  • WTF was the vibration test, i dont plan to put my computer in a paint mixer xD

  • @hazelcd1 just to show a hdd that has moving parts crashes with alot off movement :)

  • @hazelcd1 But you might drop it.

  • @hazelcd1 LOL! Brilliant, mate!

  • But SSD cost more

  • i bet the HDD one had alot of porn loaded on it before the test.... lol

  • With Sata 6GB/s now, I am pretty sure that SSD and HDD's are about as equally as fast, depending on what raid it's in.

  • I'm buying a 240 GB Corsair Force Series F240 MLC SSD

Write speed: 275 MB per second

Read Speed: 285 MB per second

    Happiness level: 300%

  • @MrWaffles224

looks at his 90GB Agility 2...wanna trade :) LOL

  • SORRY BUT TO THE FUCKING POINT.

went onto samsung website and tried to research their ssd. I KNOW what an ssd is, you do not have to tell me its faster I KNOW THAT, its got a shiny box I DONT CARE ITS GUNNA BE INSIDE MY COMPUTER.

i want to compare specs with other manufacturers like Intel, who also make pretty ssd's but they put all the specs on their site. quite frankly the website was a dealbreaker and now im buying an intel, thank you very much samsung.

  • my pc boots up faster with 7200RPM then the SDD in this video

  • @Sn0okkz K, prove it.

  • @Sn0okkz

Do you own a SSD? if so which one? cause dude THAT is a something I would like to see.

  • vista doesnt suck :(

  • @killaeyez07

Its not as bad as it used to be, even though it still taxes the hell out of your hardware.

  • another SSD vs HDD video, I just watched it cause I thought maybe HDD would win in this one :S

  • hahahah vibrator!

  • wow it's even fast on vista!

  • ssd's are for impatient people lol i can live with a few seconds slower loadup and save about 100 dollars less.

  • lol @ vibrationtest

  • Solid state drives are flash based, so that means after you operate it for a while, it becomes inoperable. Not what you want in a hard drive.

  • @MetalShreader ; That is bullshit.

  • @atheisttotindekist hey, no need to swear.

  • Price: HDD 15$, SSD 599$

  • Which brand and type of SSD? I read the older ones are slow. How do the power usage, heat, and noise compare?

  • who da fuck would pay that kind of money for 30 seconds?

  • @lolodado ; You would if you have a job that involves working with many small files. You can cut down the waiting time by literally hours per day.

Also; ever tried deleting a folder containing half a million files? It will take you days on a HDD; only an hour or so on an SSD.

And yes, such are things that people who do REAL work with computers encounter often. It is not just a nerdy thing to want.

  • bit . ly/jerku

  • BTW it's not the best HDD! (60g) and what about the SSD? what models?? it's not a genuine test :\

  • @joelharkes gonna do that with my next system, hoping the prices drop.

  • Look at that vibration test. If that was to happen in real life, it would because somebody strapped their laptop to their arm and started jerking off.

  • @TheSnub Your dick MUST. Be sore.

  • SSD cost a fortune i recommend that you wait until prices come down.

  • Writing limit :

    SSD extremely limited

    HHD NO limit !

  • SDD is not worth it, get a velociraptor or a SATA 3 HDD

  • Yeah, here in Brazil 1 SSD 80GB cost around R$ 600,00 (+/- 1080,00 Dollar) and 1 HDD 1TB cost around R$ 300,00 (+/- 540,00 Dollar).

So, let's see ... if i want let my PC 8sec. faster, i'll spend 2 times more ?

    I don't think that's a good idea. 8sec.+ will not change my life :D

  • in like 5 years SSD will be as cheap as HDD because there will be new technology available.. Just sayin

  • The pc of the left have a The computer on the left has an advantage 0:00:00:20 secs.

just pause at 0:20 or 0:21 and you can see.

  • I need 2TB of space on my PC, so when they make SSD for almost the same price as HDD, I will think about it...

  • ok good its about twice the fast but wait thats right it is also 10 times as expencive in money/gb ratio

  • Yeah, too bad SSD is such a rip off in price.

    I'd rather buy a 2 TB HHD for $140, the spend $6000 on a 2TB SSD.

  • lol ya put a prise test 30 gig 100$ and up

  • of course the SSD is faster i once read that a ssd can bet more than 200,000 times faster. why: the HDD has moving parts compared to the SSD witch has no moving parts allows it to just use electricity and electricity moves at one foot per nanosecond(One-billionth of a second). If you can have a HDD drive that moves at About 1440000000rpm then you might have a good competition. but i think i'll just stick with my HDD for awhile cuz of cost reasons.

  • @08jnope to help realize how fast a nano second is when you blink it takes about a tenth of a second now putting that into nanoseconds 1Blink~100,000,000nanoseconds

  • lol at the shaking i damaged my hdd just from shutting the lid hard =[ needed a new one

  • whos gona shake there laptop like that? its not needed in the test..but yes the SSD is faster vs a 7200 rpm hdd... what about a 10,000 rpm seeing as there in the smae price range... insted of a 60buck hdd vs a 250buck SSD

  • vibration test might be inaccurate if the position of the hard drives in the laptop is near left or right

  • ssd cost a bomb for a 500gb ==

  • @zihaogood Lol, might as well sell your couch to compensate. :p

  • @zihaogood

Thats why you only have one for the OS and a Second HDD for other stuff

  • @zihaogood they don't MAKE 500gb SSD

  • @shurtugal3010 they dont?! whaaaaaat?!!!!

  • @shurtugal3010 Kingston SSDNow V-Series V+ 512GB ? :L

  • @zihaogood

Yeah, but i would just use it for the OS and some games, and for this you just need like 120GB, and that^s not sooo expensiv...

  • @zihaogood

Gonna get a 40Go SSD, more than enough for windows and all my programs. For 83€, not that much.

Remember the HDD is the weakest piece on a PC, basically it's slowing down everything. And its noisy.

For mass storage I have a raid with two 1,5To HDD on another computer.

  • Omg that vibration test was hilarious.

  • To bad ssd costs so much!

  • well... if u would only use a 10k rpm HDD instead of a 5400.... it would be faster but it won't survive the vibration test....

  • @frestylezz

Yeah it would be nice yet it's solely for enterprise class for 10k 2.5 HD.... It would cost the same as a SSD sadly and don't even think about the vibration test on it...

  • And don't forget: a 10k would use more power, so you'll need a better power supply... I think it's over with the ordinary HDD.... although i thing the HDD 10k capacities are bigger then the SDD's...

  • i love this music endlessly.

i would groove to this my whole life if I could.

I don't know why australian lifts don't have 'lift music' (and I know it's in napoleon dynamite ((I'm not sure if it originated from that))

but i can't safely assume any other countries actually have lift music any more, but I think they all should, and it should be that song :P

    Nice Video!!

  • NAPOLEON DYNAMITE LOL

  • Vista sucks!

  • nope its just slow

  • lmfao @ vibration test XD

  • lol! at the vibration test

  • I hope _somebody_ else noticed that this video is from two years ago; SSDs have gotten much faster since this video was uploaded.

  • Dudes please don't comment badly on the low boot speed with SSD, it is significantly higher than HDD. We don't the specs of the laptops so we can't judge with that out of the picture.

But still, get a Mac Pro :P

  • wow 36s bootup even with ssd that sure is slow =0

  • nice!!

  • Is SATA II (3gb/s) faster than SSD???

  • No, SSD is faster.

  • @lighangel ssds are pluged in Sata II, sata II is the interface and ssd and hdd(the normal hard drives) are the hardware

  • Ok, put on a swap read/write test and see if the SSD will win, XD

  • yes it will. the SSD data access speed is higher than the SATA 2's speed.

  • i dont see the price 60Gb hdd 20€ 64Gb ssd 200€

  • find me a reasonable priced ssd drive with 500 gb.

  • lol @ 1:20

    The HDD pc is like;

    OoOOooOoo nooOOooOOOooo

I can imagine a guy with big fat vibrating cheeks saying it lolz

  • This is a old movie.

now a adays ssd are ower 2 times as fast!

  • LOL @ hdd freeze up

  • I never heard of SSD and my HDD is lightning fast. = )

  • SSD is faster than your HDD
