  • Been looking for someone who installed OSX with this motherboard. Thanks for the video! My rig is over 2.5 years old and I'm sure it'll still kick ass.

  • me chipest core 2 quad motherboard

    which has pci express slote

  • me chipest core 2 quad motherboard

  • @Collectorsworldbuyer I would build a hackintosh, wanna know why? Cuz I don't wanna pay an extra $1500 to have a stupid silver apple logo on the back (or side)

  • @Collectorsworldbuyer I have 3 ;-) are you poor?

  • @mdobii Then why build a hackintosh? and no im not in fact far from, it you have no idea mate seriously that first comment wasn't aimed at you btw just people that make hackintoshes in general

  • @mdobii Why would you want to pay hundreds more on a computer that has older slower hardware?

  • Comment removed

  • @Collectorsworldbuyer

Or that he has brains and is wise enough to save money.

  • @Collectorsworldbuyer Ooh a Mac fanboy that means you're a spoiled bratt, are you stupid?

  • @Collectorsworldbuyer Hackintosh means he's smart and wants to upgrade his beast as he chooses. ;) and he's less financially-retarded than your simple Mac-buyer.

  • @Collectorsworldbuyer In truth, if you can run a mac on PC hardware WHY would you buy a mac? Buy a PC and run everything on one tower or buy a mac...? I'll stick with a PC thank you.

  • @Collectorsworldbuyer What's wrong, can't figure out how to run a hackintosh? Btw, since when was it okay to make fun of people for being poor?

  • @Collectorsworldbuyer Hey you retard, my father is not poor and he went and wasted 3K on a mac pro in 2007 i just built my computer with 1K and my computer starts into lion quicker, performs 5x faster in EVERY application so idk about you, poor or not you cannot beat the fact this build right here whoops the shit out of EVERY 24 inch imac out there (maybe not the new i7 2600k ones) oh and did i mention it costs probably less then half the price and he built it himself which was fun :D

  • I love your thin 9800 gt =)

  • I wanna build an 8 core hackintosh? whats the best way to go about this specs wise?

  • Radeon 9800 GT? SHIT WHERE DO I GET THOSE!?

  • u have great specs and a shitty monitor cmmon get a better one :D

  • @510METROID runnin a 24" westinghouse now

  • I got the UD3R, and a Q9550, 2.83ghz. I oced mine to like 3.8ghz. Looks good dude, btw im a fan of you on facebook.

  • You have 8 USB So youre never gonna run out of USB, i have 9

  • i gots a 3.8 Ghz quad... :D :D :D

  • Windows Vista Home Premium $249.99, Apple iMac, $1199.99, Snow Leopard + Boot Camp $39.99

Ruined Hard Drive + Ruined Logic Board PRICELESS

  • @ProlificAscendancy I wanna build an 8 core hackintosh? whats the best way to go about this specs wise?

  • core 2 quad 6600 i had on 3.5 with massiv water cooling xD one week after it broke

  • """hackintons"" 9800 GT RADEON, and ""we dont need a bigger fan"" and he has no exhaust fan and is going to overclock... WOW.. oh by the way, if you pour water on your shit, itll cool it. try it out

  • would a EP45-UD3L work the same ?

  • and how much did you pay for the power supply? and the case? and a sound card? you seem to have a left a lot off the final price, even if you had those components already, because you still bought them.

  • ? for ya im building a new i7 rig ill be running w/7 and will be giveing my current rig an ep45ud3p with a q9400 @3.2 to my girl and considering installing osx on it for her was wondering if there will be a prob with her useing a wireless internet connection being im the main hub with 7 also would you recomend osx how do u like it

  • How the heck can u mix up Radeon n Geforce?!?!? T~T.... Still...nice video n build.

  • what case do you have?

  • 9800gt? a massive video card? really?

  • @bassmeeks the video came out in march 2009... so yes it was massive at the time!

  • im planning to build a hackintosh will a regular usb network card work the airport on the hackintosh

  • Well, you can't really compare a Core 2 Quad to a Xeon, but they're similar. Nice job and good parts chosen!

  • what version of hackintosh u using i cant findd one that finds my sata drivers for the motherboard shown thier... i have

    THAT MOTHERBOARD

    2.66 CORE 2 DUO

    4gig ram

    9800gt

    OOPS CAPPS

  • lol "Radeon 9800GT"... fail.

  • wheres that black dragon ram! HEY LOOK THIS GUY'S A PHONY!!!!

  • Why are you overclocking off of the stock. not a good idea

  • @jamesfreddieboy you can overclock anything as long as its cooled.

  • @mdobii jamesfreddieboy has got the point - overclocking on stock usually results in higher temp and CPU throttling. If you do have cash, you can spend anywhere from $20 to $40 to buy a third-party air/water cooler. I personally like CoolerMaster brand because of their quality and silent fan.

  • @mdobii True for some factors. But you should still trash that stupid stock cooler and go out to buy a $30 high-end CPU cooler. They will PROLONG your processor life and prevent it from crashing frequently.

  • did you get all that at frys??

  • hey can you link me for the 8gb ram for 80 buks. its says you got Black Dragon RAM 2GB x 4........ $79.99

    from where.

  • what is the cases

  • I agree with some of the other users.... muk is a moron... who hasn't a clue. I think Apple is paying him to blast hakintosh enthusiasts.... lol. I'll run benchmark tests on my hackintosh clones any day and can prove that they will out perform ALL iMacs and be on par with some Mac Pro Workstations.. and in some cases outperform the lowest end Mac Pro. I certainly agree that the highest quality Mac Pro is hard to beat with Dual Quad core CPUs in them. That is of course an exception.

  • I love the Apple Fan boys that love to wine and complain with authors like this who have used some ingenuity and have a fully working Mac OS X clone for more than half the price that out performs most iMacs... What it does show about the Mac Fan boys.. is they have NO CLUE what the EULA actuallys says. the EULA specifies that you are allowed to install a legal copy of OS X on an 'Apple labeled' machine and they give you two Apple labels to validate your hackintosh with. Thanks Apple....

  • did you install from official osx or the hacked version?

  • your core 2 quad is NOT a mac pro its up to par with a mac mini your simply fooling your self and spreading false pc propaganda

  • The new Mac Pro, has Intel Xeon Nehalem processor's are new the Mac Pro, at the time of this video, Mac Pro's didn't have them, the first Nehalem-based Xeon processors was announced on March 3, 2009, which can be put in any other computer, if the motherboard supports it, also if people want to fork out the price for them, and an Intel Xeon Nehalem processor is a quad core processor, it's just not part of the Core 2 family.

  • Also, a Mac is a PC, it's a personal computer, period.

  • you cpre 2 quad is slower then the core 2 duo on the imacs and you think you have a mac pro?

    FAIL

  • The Quad is currently running at 3.33Ghz overclocked, so that would be a match to the core 2 duo in terms of power, but they are NOT comparable anyway. Mac Pro is currently available with: Quad-core: One 2.66GHz, 2.93GHz, or 3.33GHz. But when I built the system, the pros were only available in 2.66ghz as of March 2009. The hackintosh was actually ahead of apple's system at the time, but currently we are getting a more even match. Thank you for your comment!

  • look on cnets site btw this is illegal

  • its not actually because I don't give instructions on how to install osx :)

  • @mdobii Here in Brazil here I live is totally LEGAL!

Why? Because here in our law is forbideen for the "empresas" sell things for use together (sorry for the bad english!)

  • Also, it's not illegal, Apple's EULA is not a law, the only thing you can get is sued, you can't be arrested for installing OS X on a non-Apple computer.

I had a talk with a lawyer, about this.

  • tell the lawyer to read the DMCA

  • Ah, the prized Digital Millenium Copyright Act, I just read it myself, and I didn't say anything related to installing a certain OS on a certain computer, or anything of the sort, and regardless the only thing they can pin on you is the look, they can call OSx86 a clone of their OS, and can still only sue you for that, the only way they could even possibly get you arrested and jail time, was if you were installing this on computers and selling them, as your own.

  • no but it said you must fallow the EULA or your breaking it

    your in denial nothing more...

  • No, breaking the EULA is just breaking an agreement, not a law, you agree to the EULA, it means 'End User License Agreement' if you install it on a non-Apple computer, all you doing is breaking the EULA, which is not a law, also, if you install it in VMware, even in VMware on OS X, are you breaking the EULA, you are not running it on a Apple computer, you are running it in a virtualized computer acting as an Apple computer, which is what the hacked OSx86 does, essentially.

  • my lawyer said DMCA stands for Dumb Mac Crappy Apple :-0

  • Close, but not quite. lol.

  • What's the most liability an end user can get for installing OS X on a pc?

  • If you install a legal un-cracked version on a non-Apple computer, they can't really do anything, now if you are selling the OS as your own, or the cracked version as your own, they can sue you, claiming it's a cloned OS, etc., that's about it, is being sued.

  • @CJCA915

Well their EULA says you may not install the OS if the computer is not Apple labeled, so officially it's not allowed.

  • The EULA is simply an agreement, not a law, so while it's not officially allowed nor supported by Apple, Apple really can't do anything about it, especially if it's a legitimate copy of the Mac OS.

  • @CJCA915

Doesn't work that way mate.. :)

But yeah Apple doesn't do anything about it, we're all just plain hobiests (or however you spell it).

If you deploy hackintoshes at an enterprise enviroment you can bet you'll get a lawsuit up your arse.

  • Apple really can't do anything, if you have a legitimate copy, they can claim it's a cloned OS, and at most they can sue, that's it, assuming you are selling a hacked version of the OS, but their are ways to install an unhacked version on any computer, with a proper bootloader, which doesn't alter the OS itself.

Well, I think an environment such as that, would be able to afford legitimate Apple computers, and wouldn't need to worry about it.

  • @CJCA915

That's also true of course, but a company who used to sell hackintoshes also got sued (they lost the case) and had to remove all their PCs from their store with Mac OS installed on them.

  • Well, that I can see happening, but as far as a person buying a real official copy from Apple, and installing it on a non-Apple computer, is up the end user, hence "End User License Agreement"

You'd be surprised at some of the other jacked up stuff in the Apple EULA.

  • Well i was legitimate... but because apple fucked me over with my macbook .... this is what you get apple "my foot in your ass!"

  • Well, I have never been fucked over by any company, if I had an issue the company I needed to contact was always able to help me solve my problem, which might I add, was not very many, most problems, I have been able to fix myself.

  • EULA is a colletion of rules, some of them can violete your rights.

You buy OS and its urs, its up to you what you do with that... somehow software companys believe they can make rules on that. Very strange...

  • @muk546 its not illegal its just against apples terms and agreement.

  • so why not buy an imac its cheaper then this load piece of junk and your so desperate for our os?

  • Muk you are a moron. You have no clue on what you are talking about.

  • go on cents site the core 2 quad is slower then the core 2 duo in everything but multitasking

  • This guy is dumb. He's a follower of communist apple. The components they put in their systems are craps with jacked up prices. Why not built your own with performance parts? Go ahead buy apple's 60$ mouse. He just jealouse he doesn't have the knowledge to put one together.

  • LOL!!! APPLES NEW IPAD!!!

"ITS A JUST A BIGGER itouch"

    GENIUS !!

  • @hellzone100

NO SUCH THING AS AN ITOUCH, FUCKING RETARD!

  • @secret00agent00man fail........

  • @hellzone100

How is that a fail. It's the truth, and if you think the truth fails, go daydream some more, dumbass.

  • @secret00agent00man dude seriously stfu!

  • Cheaper my butt, people don't want to pay 2-3 grand for the same and in some cases less hardware and without a doubt no customization options, when they can run a hacked version of the OS, which costs less than a $100 from Apple, and run it on any computer for free, outside the cost of the computer. when you pay your 2-3 grand, just remember all you are paying for is the brand name.

  • How Did You Get Your nVidia 9800GT To Work OSX??

I Have Everything Working Except The Graphics Card...

    Thanks, Much Respect.

  • You need to find "UInstaller.app" and the appropriate .plugin file for your motherboard.

  • and what about firewire? is it 3dr part or come with motherboard, explaim it, please thanx and congratulation

  • Firewire was a separate pci card.

  • nice, I got snow leopard running on my Core i5 setup :]

  • My goodness, Hackintosh makes Windows 7 feel like old crap.

Just installed SnowLeo on a spare Ep45-UD3LR, 8800GT, E8500 dual core.

    And a guide from insanelymac.

  • Gigabyte motherboard $45

    4gb of ram $100

Selling a Hackintosh half the price of the real deal ..... priceless

  • haha

  • do you plan on upgrading to SL ?

  • eventually. testing it on another HD right now.

  • thats a tank lol!

  • Trust me u havent seen anything

  • o and nice job :)

  • hey i noticed that your using a stock cooler. it doesn't get hot at all since you over clocked it. and sorry to ask but what is that buzzing noise in the back round.

  • I've got 5 fans running now. and the noise = garage door.

  • oh btw, you can't directly compare the mac pro to your config.

because they use i7s now, (Xeons too, which is around $1000 in newegg, or $500 x 2 for the 8 core model) ECC-Registered RAM, Dual CPU Server motherboard.

They also use Pioneer DVD Drives, which cost around 2x more than regular drives (because of quality). And the design is very good lol. (but shitty... SHITTY GFX!)

  • I got the EP43-DS3LR. Works great :-)

  • oy, i want to buy a hackbook pro lol..

  • @digimikeh 5 times cheaper than a macbook pro...

    I want too! lol

  • Why would you want to run OSX on this computer? You won't be able to play games or do anything that requires you to to use the GeForce 9800 GT. Just use Windows 7. It's much better.

  • Incorrect. It runs every game for OSX.

  • Very good question and better yet a great point. Win7 on and nice home built PC works like a dream in all areas.

  • Its called dual booting :p

    Snow Leopard for everyday activities

    Windows 7 for gaming

  • ahhh just perfecion, i use windows for vst instruments and OSX for logic

  • Did you use EFiX USB V1,V1.1 or V2?

  • No.

  • yeah, not when i built it ass.

  • pwned. :)

  • the card that was circled was a firewire not sata or ethernet (yes i saw the ethernet, but you circled the firewire ;> )

  • correct thank you!

  • a Radeon 9800 GT? lmao

  • Noo Geforce. It would be sad to bottleneck a decent system like that with an outdated card haha... though teh 9800 GeForce is getting there...

  • LOL. Whatever. So lets see. You said in your previous post that you had 4 2tb drives in a RAID-5 confiquration. Are you saying that your 2tb drives are SSD? Or are your saying SSD's are equal in performance to your RAID-5 array?

  • Uh, ok. Good for you. Most people have no need for that kind of storage capacity for their home PC. Kinda like having a car that can do 230 mph to drive a couple of miles to work.

  • is it possible to dual boot vista/os x (snow) with the following gear? EVGA x58 mobo, EVGA GTX 275, lite on cd drive, ocz ram (6gb), and intel core i7 (920)

  • it all depends on which method you use ( efix dongle or osx86 version of mac os) There are very few mobos that the efix dongle will recognize that isn't on their compatibility list. If you are using a hacked copy though, just check your hardware on the compatability list of osx86 on their wiki.

  • Hi mdobii!

Have you any documentation or internet link to the install?

  • i have the same mobo, how did you get the alc888 on board audio working?

  • LOL. What the crap does he use that thing for that he needs more hard drive than a terabyte!?

  • lol 'radeon 9800 gt' :P

  • Lol, oops.

  • how much did everything cost you

  • $710.36.... same components should be cheaper now.

  • can you SLI with video cards with the EFI-X?

  • Nice looking machine, good to hear you got more RAM per core going on. What OSX Method did you use to install?

  • check out mine, its not bad.

sweet setup. though if thats the q8200, i hate that cpu :-( has no VT

  • Did you install Leopard natively or a hacked version?

  • Full retail version. All code in tact.

  • if you think that 9800 gt is big you should see my gtx 275

  • The 275 blocked all of my sata ports except for 1, so I had to switch to a usb dvd drive :\

  • lol radeon 9800 gt

    its okay

so you can overclock with a stock fan??

  • the most powerful hackintosh!!!!!!

    5 stars and SUBSCRIBED!!!

    VERY NICE!!!!!!!!!

  • Best hackintosh ive seen...most people just load it onto a 200$ laptop

  • how much did this rig cost in total?

  • dynex RAM? :/

  • that was actually the ethernet card. I misspoke. && RAM is now at 8 GB (4x2)

  • love those wire twist ties it gives it that VOODOO ghetto vibe. Dynex makes kickass stuff LOL!!

  • dynex ram is no name basicly XD

  • I have a Dell studio 15 (1555) laptop arriving at the end of this month, I don't suppose it can run Hackintosh? Does anyone know? Since it uses an ATI video card (4570, 512mb version) i doubt there would be Mac drivers. Would it still be useable?

  • I installed iDeneb 10.5.6 and everything but the wireless worked.

  • get a usb wireless card!

  • Were you able to do a vanilla install off of the retail discs? Or did you sue like... Kalyway or something?

  • why only 2gb of ram??? you are running in single channel mode

  • Got 8gb now!

  • What is the spec for that firewire card that installed ?

  • yeh can u list da parts in da description?

  • I got the same graphics card as you and it is great but the cooler is crap.

  • I built a Intel Core i7 Hackintosh

  • what parts did you use?

  • Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz Overlocked to 3.2GHz

    RAM 6GB

Mobo GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

    Graphics card XFX PVT98WYDFU GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

  • What hacked iso did you use?

  • I used iPC

  • I've designed a Hackintosh faux 8-core Pro that substitutes the Xeons for Core 2 quads, but is otherwise identical (save it costing almost $2000 less!) to the real 8-core pro. Too bad i won't be able to make the money (~$1600) until i am old enough to get a job (1-2 more years...By then there will be 12-core computers! i'll completely have to redesign the hackintosh!) due to child labor laws impeding me once again.

How does Leopard do with a PS/2 mouse and keyboard plus VGA monitor?

  • How old are you?

  • Why do you ask?

    (14)

  • You talked about child labor laws so I knew you must me pretty young, but it was impressive how much you know about computers.

By the way, some places hire at 14. Granted, they'll be disgusting fast food places or something... but still.

  • Thanks!

Regardless, a job is a job. i'll have to see if i can get some form of work at the local McDonalds or something.

  • PS/2 is not OSX compatible. No can do. VGA is fine as long as the graphics card is supported, obviously.

  • I have a plan set up for my own Hackintosh pro using the Boot-132 method. In terms of specs, it's roughly equal to the 8-core pro ( only difference being case and that i substituted the dual Xeons for Dual core 2 quad), and costs $1000+ less than the REAL 8-core Pro.

Too bad i won't make the neccesary ~$1600 until i am old enough to get a job (which will be one or two more years--by then i'll have to design a 16-core hackintosh or something!)...Damn you child labor laws!

  • awesome video man

  • Is it possible to get the original OSX Leopoard and install it?

  • that's exactly what I did; new video soon!
