@Collectorsworldbuyer I would build a hackintosh, wanna know why? Cuz I don't wanna pay an extra $1500 to have a stupid silver apple logo on the back (or side)

@Collectorsworldbuyer Hackintosh means he's smart and wants to upgrade his beast as he chooses. ;) and he's less financially-retarded than your simple Mac-buyer.
@Collectorsworldbuyer In truth, if you can run a mac on PC hardware WHY would you buy a mac? Buy a PC and run everything on one tower or buy a mac...? I'll stick with a PC thank you.
@Collectorsworldbuyer Hey you retard, my father is not poor and he went and wasted 3K on a mac pro in 2007 i just built my computer with 1K and my computer starts into lion quicker, performs 5x faster in EVERY application so idk about you, poor or not you cannot beat the fact this build right here whoops the shit out of EVERY 24 inch imac out there (maybe not the new i7 2600k ones) oh and did i mention it costs probably less then half the price and he built it himself which was fun :D
is there a place that i can get step by step instructioin on how to do this. i have an hp dv6 quad. i have the muscle for it. and also, i know the drivers for the wifi, graphics card and the audio, webcam ect. how is it dont and where to get them from. im thinking about getting a 1TB drive and splitting it for osx snow leopard and windows 7 ultimate.

and how much did you pay for the power supply? and the case? and a sound card? you seem to have a left a lot off the final price, even if you had those components already, because you still bought them.
? for ya im building a new i7 rig ill be running w/7 and will be giveing my current rig an ep45ud3p with a q9400 @3.2 to my girl and considering installing osx on it for her was wondering if there will be a prob with her useing a wireless internet connection being im the main hub with 7 also would you recomend osx how do u like it
@mdobii jamesfreddieboy has got the point - overclocking on stock usually results in higher temp and CPU throttling. If you do have cash, you can spend anywhere from $20 to $40 to buy a third-party air/water cooler. I personally like CoolerMaster brand because of their quality and silent fan.
@mdobii True for some factors. But you should still trash that stupid stock cooler and go out to buy a $30 high-end CPU cooler. They will PROLONG your processor life and prevent it from crashing frequently.
I agree with some of the other users.... muk is a moron... who hasn't a clue. I think Apple is paying him to blast hakintosh enthusiasts.... lol. I'll run benchmark tests on my hackintosh clones any day and can prove that they will out perform ALL iMacs and be on par with some Mac Pro Workstations.. and in some cases outperform the lowest end Mac Pro. I certainly agree that the highest quality Mac Pro is hard to beat with Dual Quad core CPUs in them. That is of course an exception.
I love the Apple Fan boys that love to wine and complain with authors like this who have used some ingenuity and have a fully working Mac OS X clone for more than half the price that out performs most iMacs... What it does show about the Mac Fan boys.. is they have NO CLUE what the EULA actuallys says. the EULA specifies that you are allowed to install a legal copy of OS X on an 'Apple labeled' machine and they give you two Apple labels to validate your hackintosh with. Thanks Apple....
The new Mac Pro, has Intel Xeon Nehalem processor's are new the Mac Pro, at the time of this video, Mac Pro's didn't have them, the first Nehalem-based Xeon processors was announced on March 3, 2009, which can be put in any other computer, if the motherboard supports it, also if people want to fork out the price for them, and an Intel Xeon Nehalem processor is a quad core processor, it's just not part of the Core 2 family.
The Quad is currently running at 3.33Ghz overclocked, so that would be a match to the core 2 duo in terms of power, but they are NOT comparable anyway. Mac Pro is currently available with: Quad-core: One 2.66GHz, 2.93GHz, or 3.33GHz. But when I built the system, the pros were only available in 2.66ghz as of March 2009. The hackintosh was actually ahead of apple's system at the time, but currently we are getting a more even match. Thank you for your comment!
Also, it's not illegal, Apple's EULA is not a law, the only thing you can get is sued, you can't be arrested for installing OS X on a non-Apple computer.
Ah, the prized Digital Millenium Copyright Act, I just read it myself, and I didn't say anything related to installing a certain OS on a certain computer, or anything of the sort, and regardless the only thing they can pin on you is the look, they can call OSx86 a clone of their OS, and can still only sue you for that, the only way they could even possibly get you arrested and jail time, was if you were installing this on computers and selling them, as your own.
No, breaking the EULA is just breaking an agreement, not a law, you agree to the EULA, it means 'End User License Agreement' if you install it on a non-Apple computer, all you doing is breaking the EULA, which is not a law, also, if you install it in VMware, even in VMware on OS X, are you breaking the EULA, you are not running it on a Apple computer, you are running it in a virtualized computer acting as an Apple computer, which is what the hacked OSx86 does, essentially.
If you install a legal un-cracked version on a non-Apple computer, they can't really do anything, now if you are selling the OS as your own, or the cracked version as your own, they can sue you, claiming it's a cloned OS, etc., that's about it, is being sued.
The EULA is simply an agreement, not a law, so while it's not officially allowed nor supported by Apple, Apple really can't do anything about it, especially if it's a legitimate copy of the Mac OS.
Apple really can't do anything, if you have a legitimate copy, they can claim it's a cloned OS, and at most they can sue, that's it, assuming you are selling a hacked version of the OS, but their are ways to install an unhacked version on any computer, with a proper bootloader, which doesn't alter the OS itself.
Well, I think an environment such as that, would be able to afford legitimate Apple computers, and wouldn't need to worry about it.
That's also true of course, but a company who used to sell hackintoshes also got sued (they lost the case) and had to remove all their PCs from their store with Mac OS installed on them.
Well, that I can see happening, but as far as a person buying a real official copy from Apple, and installing it on a non-Apple computer, is up the end user, hence "End User License Agreement"
You'd be surprised at some of the other jacked up stuff in the Apple EULA.
Well, I have never been fucked over by any company, if I had an issue the company I needed to contact was always able to help me solve my problem, which might I add, was not very many, most problems, I have been able to fix myself.
This guy is dumb. He's a follower of communist apple. The components they put in their systems are craps with jacked up prices. Why not built your own with performance parts? Go ahead buy apple's 60$ mouse. He just jealouse he doesn't have the knowledge to put one together.
Cheaper my butt, people don't want to pay 2-3 grand for the same and in some cases less hardware and without a doubt no customization options, when they can run a hacked version of the OS, which costs less than a $100 from Apple, and run it on any computer for free, outside the cost of the computer. when you pay your 2-3 grand, just remember all you are paying for is the brand name.
hey i noticed that your using a stock cooler. it doesn't get hot at all since you over clocked it. and sorry to ask but what is that buzzing noise in the back round.
oh btw, you can't directly compare the mac pro to your config.
because they use i7s now, (Xeons too, which is around $1000 in newegg, or $500 x 2 for the 8 core model) ECC-Registered RAM, Dual CPU Server motherboard.
They also use Pioneer DVD Drives, which cost around 2x more than regular drives (because of quality). And the design is very good lol. (but shitty... SHITTY GFX!)
Why would you want to run OSX on this computer? You won't be able to play games or do anything that requires you to to use the GeForce 9800 GT. Just use Windows 7. It's much better.
LOL. Whatever. So lets see. You said in your previous post that you had 4 2tb drives in a RAID-5 confiquration. Are you saying that your 2tb drives are SSD? Or are your saying SSD's are equal in performance to your RAID-5 array?
Uh, ok. Good for you. Most people have no need for that kind of storage capacity for their home PC. Kinda like having a car that can do 230 mph to drive a couple of miles to work.
is it possible to dual boot vista/os x (snow) with the following gear? EVGA x58 mobo, EVGA GTX 275, lite on cd drive, ocz ram (6gb), and intel core i7 (920)
it all depends on which method you use ( efix dongle or osx86 version of mac os) There are very few mobos that the efix dongle will recognize that isn't on their compatibility list. If you are using a hacked copy though, just check your hardware on the compatability list of osx86 on their wiki.
I have a Dell studio 15 (1555) laptop arriving at the end of this month, I don't suppose it can run Hackintosh? Does anyone know? Since it uses an ATI video card (4570, 512mb version) i doubt there would be Mac drivers. Would it still be useable?
I've designed a Hackintosh faux 8-core Pro that substitutes the Xeons for Core 2 quads, but is otherwise identical (save it costing almost $2000 less!) to the real 8-core pro. Too bad i won't be able to make the money (~$1600) until i am old enough to get a job (1-2 more years...By then there will be 12-core computers! i'll completely have to redesign the hackintosh!) due to child labor laws impeding me once again.
How does Leopard do with a PS/2 mouse and keyboard plus VGA monitor?
I have a plan set up for my own Hackintosh pro using the Boot-132 method. In terms of specs, it's roughly equal to the 8-core pro ( only difference being case and that i substituted the dual Xeons for Dual core 2 quad), and costs $1000+ less than the REAL 8-core Pro.
Too bad i won't make the neccesary ~$1600 until i am old enough to get a job (which will be one or two more years--by then i'll have to design a 16-core hackintosh or something!)...Damn you child labor laws!

Why would you want to run OSX on this computer? You won't be able to play games or do anything that requires you to to use the GeForce 9800 GT. Just use Windows 7. It's much better.
danny6290 2 years ago
Incorrect. It runs every game for OSX.
mdobii 2 years ago
Very good question and better yet a great point. Win7 on and nice home built PC works like a dream in all areas.

XysteRST205 2 years ago 15
Noo Geforce. It would be sad to bottleneck a decent system like that with an outdated card haha... though teh 9800 GeForce is getting there...
noobaloobgoob 2 years ago
LOL. Whatever. So lets see. You said in your previous post that you had 4 2tb drives in a RAID-5 confiquration. Are you saying that your 2tb drives are SSD? Or are your saying SSD's are equal in performance to your RAID-5 array?
RedAlpha3 2 years ago
Uh, ok. Good for you. Most people have no need for that kind of storage capacity for their home PC. Kinda like having a car that can do 230 mph to drive a couple of miles to work.

is it possible to dual boot vista/os x (snow) with the following gear? EVGA x58 mobo, EVGA GTX 275, lite on cd drive, ocz ram (6gb), and intel core i7 (920)
MrEklipze 2 years ago
it all depends on which method you use ( efix dongle or osx86 version of mac os) There are very few mobos that the efix dongle will recognize that isn't on their compatibility list. If you are using a hacked copy though, just check your hardware on the compatability list of osx86 on their wiki.

Hi mdobii!
Have you any documentation or internet link to the install?

How does Leopard do with a PS/2 mouse and keyboard plus VGA monitor?
poopskinTheLiar 2 years ago
How old are you?
matt56037 2 years ago
Why do you ask?
(14)
poopskinTheLiar 2 years ago
You talked about child labor laws so I knew you must me pretty young, but it was impressive how much you know about computers.
By the way, some places hire at 14. Granted, they'll be disgusting fast food places or something... but still.
matt56037 2 years ago
Thanks!
Regardless, a job is a job. i'll have to see if i can get some form of work at the local McDonalds or something.
poopskinTheLiar 2 years ago
PS/2 is not OSX compatible. No can do. VGA is fine as long as the graphics card is supported, obviously.
mdobii 2 years ago
I have a plan set up for my own Hackintosh pro using the Boot-132 method. In terms of specs, it's roughly equal to the 8-core pro ( only difference being case and that i substituted the dual Xeons for Dual core 2 quad), and costs $1000+ less than the REAL 8-core Pro.
Too bad i won't make the neccesary ~$1600 until i am old enough to get a job (which will be one or two more years--by then i'll have to design a 16-core hackintosh or something!)...Damn you child labor laws!
