I don't get it. What do you use the 3D glasses for? The camera clearly shows that Second Life is not stereoscopic, so what's the point of wearing 3D glasses?
@Aphradonis I stand corrected. Still, HMDs are made to display stereoscopic environments. Using one to display an environment that is monoscopic is a waste of technology, unless the goal of the video is not to show that he can render Second Life as a VR environment, but to make other people believe he can do so.
@DevilMaster HMDs are made to display 2D and 3D content. Some HMDs only function in 2D. A 2D HMD with a wide FOV can be more immersive than a 3D monitor. Of course, 3D, wide FOV HMDs are optimal. The new Sony HMZ-T1 has a 45 degree FOV, which isn't as good as professional HMDs, but is better than cheap HMDs from the likes of Vuzix. It also has 720p resolution, the first for a consumer HMD. Sensics sells a professional HMD with 180 degree FOV, for around $100,000.
look at you, wearing tin foil on your face playing second life :P you should be living your real life, no offense, youtuber to youtuber in all seriousness. second life isnt even a fun video game its just a simulation of something you can do for real every day... try a FPS lol
WOP, I stil have my UnioNReality Helmet, but the drivers are outdated on that disc, what OS is it here and how did you got the thing running? I would be glad to get a hint what driver to use under XP? --- Anyhow cool idea - it was the first thing i was thinking - remembering my good old Forte VFX helmet and a Nintendo Powerglove - ;)
The helmet is from a company called "Union reality" and i am using Olympus Eye-Trek video googles. It works nice. The only thing which makes it look "non-smooth" is the slow response from Second Life.
Did not get any headaches from it but noticed the feeling that my brain got "warmer" after some time playing a 3D-space-shooter with very fast graphics ;)
Great gear mate. Don't you get headaches from the goggles? What sort of goggles do you use? Also, the helmet is really awesome but it doesn't look smooth, maybe you're using a slower computer or something???
I am currently just using it for Second Life and for this it is fun. ... and btw: i paid exactly 11 Euro for this helmet in a rubbish store ;) was for sure worth the money.

:) the UnionReality helmet runs under xp as a standard 6 axes joystick. No need for a special driver. Enjoy
