Great fight but damn the hero should of been dead in the first moments of this fight. Stabbed,beaten with batons across the arms and skull and no swelling? Not even a black eye? And being able to speak to his daughter while in an rear naked choke and not pass out from it? The waits until near the end to pull his wing chun out of his hat, when he should of done that during the baton attack? Great fight but stupid movie.

@civicdoc Eh, it's a martial arts movie, it's basically opera anyway, it's about panache, not logic :P. I suppose if you really wanted to reach, you could say the sight of his daughter gave him the will to finish the fight, but really it's all about the choreography, and what choreography it is! But if you think this fight is unrealistic, you should see the punishment JYB takes in the rest of the movie, he'd have been dead long before this :P!

I'm guessing that basically who you see in the movie are the only ones involved? Have Alpha Stunts disbanded? AN is directing some PRS, don't know what happened to MY or TK. I know they worked on Disney PR, and KS still works on PRS, but don't know what became of the rest of them. Shame. Been a fan ever since PR's golden age.

I find it damn hard to believe that Koichi Sakamoto directed the movie without some input into the fights, if not quite a bit, but great stuff. The Alpha boys seem to just take a group credit now. Names of the alums like Akihiro Noguchi, Makoto Yokoyama, and Tatsuro Koike don't appear, though whether they just have an umbrella credit or aren't there anymore, I don't know.

Some great moves and camera work but the fight stagnates in parts because the actors stay at the perfect distance from each other. Add in more stand up grappling and throws to counteract these effect. Yes. Opinions are like assholes and I got one

@landgabriel Yeah, like the other Alpha Stunts movies, it's pretty obvious that the budget was next to nil, but I think on the whole, it's pretty cool. Perfectly legitimate criticism. I think Sakamoto is trying to do something much like what many Hong Kong movies do which is show the sort of anticipation and give the fights a rhythm instead of editing them to ribbons like most Hollywood movies do. What're some of your favorite fight scenes?

Fav fight scenes? Good question. Guess it depends on context. The style of fighting has to fit the story. I enjoy Wuxia style fighting in Wuxia movies and very stagey style choreography in Stephen Chow's stuff. I liked the Ip Man films. Depends on context. I am partial to Thai stuff. born to Fight, Protector, and Ong Bak. I like how the fights ended fast and were less like a partner dance.

@landgabriel Given that Yuen directed classics like Yes, Madame & Fong Sai Yuk and the DP was John Woo's partner, the blame must fall to Sly and his editor from the Bay school. At least Luc Besson had the damn sense to let him direct himself. The Europeans get it (District B13), Hollywood just doesn't. Even some talented directors have messed up HK, and some just make a total hash of it. I don't know who thinks shaky cam is a good idea, but it needs to stop.

That battle between Li/Statham and Daniels should have been epic, it barely registers.
