Huh -- didn't remember hearing this version before, tho' I did watch most of the DVD extras (except the commentaries -- much as I wld love 2 hear them, I'm worried they might lose some of the magic for me when I re-watch the shows. As Sean Astin's mom, Patty Duke Astin, was quoted as saying, she wouldn't watch any of the "making of" extras for LOTR, because she knew they'd just gone to Middle-Earth to film it, and it was all *real*).
