I think if it does any other action besides forward/backwrod it would just add to the vidration problem.
You can clearly see the whole stabilizer flexing and the end is counteracting it causing more vibration and will actually take more time to stop the vibration.
@Spywell As it was explained to me, the purpose of a stabilizer is to prevent the bow from shifting as the arrow leaves the bow. Once the arrow is past the rest, the action of the stabilizer will have no effect on the arrow. It might be dancing a hula, but if it did its thing in keeping the bow from shifting for that split second, then all is well.
I saw a video of Championship archers who had very long stabilizer rod with a V shaped tip. It was solid, no springs on it.

It's a stabilization device for a bow. The main function is to absorbe vibrations wich would have a bad affect to the arrow's flight trajectory.
