  • awesome. ron carter is one of my idols on the bass.

  • This swings so straight! Didn't realize that there's no drums 'till halfway through the song!

  • insane-Russell Malone is so understated yet loud.

  • What an incredible arrangement. What a genius Roy Carter is. What an awesome piano solo that is. Astonishing.

  • @violinoamore And the fact that you don't know who 'that' guitar player is says a lot... Russell Malone is known for knowing a ridiculous amount of tunes. Don't judge so easily my friend....

  • Fantástico!!!

  • Fantastic!

  • @violinoamore funny you say this , since Russell Malone is well know as a human library of music. He that kind of guy who knows probably 1000+ tunes.

  • Also, eminently self-protective. I don't recall Art Tatum doing this tune (perhaps insufficiently challenging), but Oscar certainly did. Anyone following him had better go for understatement or a radically altered, "original" interpretation.

  • Beautiful !!! M. Carter...

    Damião-Rio de Janeiro

  • guys please tell me what video this is from?

  • the tastefull masters of trio playing. how could anyone say that this isnt beautifull musicianship?

  • Yet another great Detroit musician -the list is endless.

  • I got the chance to meet him after what was the best concert i have ever heard , a kind man with a presence as heavy as his past . thank you M. Carter .

  • I had the honour of meeting him after a concert in limoges , he is such a nice person , it's wonderful to know that a person with such profound musicality can also be a beautiful being . thank you rn carter , you have given me my best jazz moment .

  • @violinoamore It's probably a lead sheet, i.e. the chord progressions so the musicians know which chords to solo over

  • @violinoamore your an idiot

  • @violinoamore It's not the chords that are written but the theme which is quite different than the original.

  • @weskoki Plus, unique arrangements and keys make for a useful score :)

  • is that tom hanks on piano? haha

  • @TokyoScarab his brother from another mother I presume? (and then some witty remark about chocolates)

  • i feel like i enjoy music that way

  • Love the way Ron Carter breaks it down in his solo. It's as if he listened to the trio, then explained to the rest of us how the music was constructed. Gorgeous!

  • Thanks Ron & Co

...tout doucement sans faire de bruit

Another Must: Les feuilles mortes. Yves Montand / Jacques Prevert

  • Guy was giving that piano a good flogging, very nice

  • This, is JAZZ!

Smooth, not pushy, hints of genius, without the self-aggrandizing, that we usually have to take, from some performers! I love this!

  • Love it! 3 Awesome guys.....1 Fantastic song

  • if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it...you don't understand because you're uneducated musically!

  • what a weird bassguitarplayer with all those ugly notes, dont understand whats beautiful about this or him.... Zjesus C.!

  • @ahaaaaaaaaah What Bass guitar player?

  • @ahaaaaaaaaah are you having a laugh? run along now.. we wouldn't want you to accidentally learn something about music.

  • @ahaaaaaaaaah That funny you say that because this possibly one of the best things I've ever heard.

  • what a cool walking bass solo. tasty but hip to!

  • @ahaaaaaaaaah ......

  • who is the one that said: DON'T LIKE??? Uh? completely fool!!!

  • GREAT performance! but i didnt like those muted string hits that malone was doing during carters solo..

  • @cromero1201 you're right!!!

  • @cromero1201 Really? I quite enjoyed it, I saw it as him getting out of the piano players way so that he didn't make the song too busy at that point. Also, to me at least it sounded a bit like a drummers hi-hat, which I really dug! But to each his own I guess!

  • Ha!.... its tom hanks on keys!!!

  • Ron Carter KILLS IT!

  • Gosh, the musicality in this is insane. I can't imagine being able to play like Malone. Total command. I've been playing Autumn leaves for two years now as a jazz guitarist and after watching this I wanna throw my guitar off a cliff.

  • @pencap23 hahahahahha.. don't do it... but i must admit.. very sophisticated.. intelligent but most of all soulfull Jazz!!,

  • Bass the way it should be ! A sweet and soulful bottom.

  • Tom Hanks is on the piano!!!

  • My favorite part is 7:05

  • Loved this although I still think I may be more fond of Carters version with Jim Hall.

  • that is why JAZZ!!!

  • Cool chromatic changes on the break choruses!! Jacky is bad!!

  • Cool changes!!

  • Very well Connection between the three, a real Art Of Trio!

  • @randomperson2101 that's all you can get out of your head, ignorance is not something to be proud of

  • @randomperson2101 ur musical taste is garbage

  • @12jo0 are you a musician?

  • If you had any taste or musical knowledge whatsoever beyond hip hop, rap or any type of metal, then you would know and appreciate jazz. Until you have such wisdom, you really should keep your ignorance to yourself.

  • @randomperson2101 if you don't like, than please don't watch it either. you're not worth it

  • the guitarist is great the bassist is magnificent and the piano is the delicious cherry on top

  • Buy Ron Carter's educational materials, he is such a great teacher. So generous to show how to play jazz bass. Thank you Ron Carter

  • I really enjoy this jazz standard very much. Each musician player their part very tastefully. Ron Carter is and has always been one othe the greatest bass players ever.

  • russell malone is awesome!! i am not a big fan of jazz pianists, but this guy plays really tasteful. and ron is a legend! WOW what a perfect trio

  • tasteful pianist!

  • ron carter... elegant version... the pianist is also excelent

  • the definition of tasteful.

  • Power and grace.

  • Loved it, made the tune interesting throughout, great ideas from each guy.

  • What a beautiful understatement of a jazz standard! These guys leave the listener with something to think about instead of wringing every last note out of the performance.

  • @clearforkjazz What a wonderful point mate !!! Some jazzer's can't help themselves.
