I just started watching this show as Netflix has been telling me I should for the last year. Just finished the first season tonight and my wife and I are hooked! What a show... dark comedy/macabre/crime drama/suspense... has it all.  Great acting and stories. Plus, as a cancer survivor I have to give it up to Michael C. Hall for getting through his treatments successfully as well. Looking forward to season 2 starting this week....only 3 years behind everyone else!

Networks need to hire the people that create, write and direct shows like Dexter to bring better, more exciting TV shows to regular television. Shows like Lost and Heroes rely on overly complicated, drawn out twists that are forgettable, and shows like CSI, NCIS, etc., rely on the same plot week after week. The writing and directing on shows like Dexter outshine regular television; the characters are more fleshed out, the plot is exciting and memorable, and the cliffhangers are to die for.
