Generally they lived in their dreams own feelings .so characters! but if the movies showed such people as live in real life pragmatic and the cold people who do not all of the senses all do with a cold brains it would be boring to watch very boring...
the most memorable scene is when he sits on the steps of,and it is snowing this manolog..showed very natural love of nonreciprocal.
all gathered such sensitive..loopback only on their feelings. especially as this girl in love so can may cut the veins of for a man who does not care?!!or keep her virginity for the man who does not know..
I first met Bateman Jr in American Psycho, he seemed aloof. Almost emotionally unconnected, like a young developing replica of Patrick.
Maybe this all happened before he visited his father in hospital and he was described?
Because he is nothing like I expected from reading AP, he almost seems just on the edge of innocent/playful/loveable rogue in this film. Right before he shifts into the traits of a psychopath.
The futility and cruelty of human relationships is summed up in this film. It's all a complex con. Just us using each other. It cannot possibly be something better or advanced due to humanity's inherent selfishness and utter indifference to each other. It is not generational, it is simply how human beings are. Love is an illusion. Peace is a lie. Romance is a grand falsehood.
It breaks my heart to watch this scene, particularly because I know how true it is. You can go through your entire life without truly knowing anyone, even the ones you truly love.

From a cinematic standpoint, this is the best film adaption of Ellis' work, imo.

This is so true. Movies where people are always falling in love and getting what that want is just that, a movie. This shows how life truly is
