  • we dont kill over cartoons ,,, but we know who does !!!!!!!!!

  • I gotta ask: is all this copyright controversy over the fear that Lord Vishnu or whoever first wrote the Hindu religion might sue Nina Paley for stealing her/his ideas about the cosmos?

  • This says 720p HD, but it looks like crap... why?

  • Loooooooove this movie!!!!!

As a catholic (with a Hindu/catholic raised Boy friend.....which if you met him would explain A LOT). I can honestly say pretty much ALL faiths get a comic treatment at some point. The most insulting part is usually the overreaction of that faith's followers. My man's mom is a devout Hindu and found this ode to a broken heart (which is how WE see it) beautiful. SHE is a testament to ALL Hindus in my book. Devout, understanding and compassionate.

    Thanks Nina!

  • @gusmanproductions well considering the whole movie is Creative Commons licensed, i have a feeling it isn't even "pirating" to get a copy of the soundtrack. and i'm not sure but you might start by checking out the film's official website for info.

  • master piece work except some indian will pop up once in a while to rant how nina paley has hurt their religious sentiments....

  • @TheSkirmishes what if we draw your mom's photo naked

  • @TheHinduzionist hell lot of cultured decent indians who were not breast fed might just jerk off....but many like me will look at her with the same beautiful divinity which fed me from her breasts when i was a helpless infant....the truth is a women never becomes a mother until she is naked..even u are born naked...so there is no sin in it.apart from how people choose to look at it....cmon man u r from a land which discovered kamasutra...how can u lot be so narrow minded now?

  • @TheSkirmishes It is that you are just a christian pig saying some nonsense go fuck yourself .You want to see other culture in vulgar way which is your porn culture.

  • @TheHinduzionist how mature and cultured of u..with that language u sure are from a 6000 years of heritage...lol keep it up

  • @TheSkirmishes Well i never be able to keep up with your atrocities

  • @TheSkirmishes did you feel offended by my freedom of speech?

  • @TheSkirmishes Off course I am from land of kamasutra does that allow me to make porn cartoon about abraham lincoln and a black whore?Think over it . We revere somethings and you should learn to respect it . You are not a open minded so called champion of freedom of worship you are christian who wants to portray other culture in vulgar way.

  • this is absolutely DISGUSTING!!! I cannot believe people would take a character from a hindu epic that people respect soo much and draw her in such a way... I really think that people need to learn how to respect other people's religions.. as they wouldn't be happy if other people disrespected theirs. Even if some don't believe in any god, they should atleast respect the fact that this might hurt people.. it takes a good human being to know wht ramayan is all about. U will be punished soon dw

  • @prettiedesi92 get a life, dude.....if all is Maya, why worry? seek your own salvation, diligently. and the same to TheRockkky... its all an illusion, so dont fall into the trap of beliveing any of this is real, ay?

  • Why in the world are you even on this video if you hate it so much? Go direct your energy towards something constructive my friends, and you'll feel much better instead of wasting all this time on hate.

  • Trippiest Indian Art Ever!!

  • @hazzeegloo i 2nd that bro visit ma channel for more

  • It seems her husband and she had a split and this crap is coming out of her idle brain which is now a devil's workshop!!!

  • @dummyjunkbox please go stand in the corner now with all the other fucking retard trolls who have wandered in here for no reason.

  • I SUPPORT @VLONP

  • children on the streets also know what ramayana is nina paley!! i am feel pity for ur ritardness u bitch!!

  • As an African muslim student in India, I find this totaly shameful. Did we tolerate Mr.Rashdie or Danish Cartoon ? I think this is far more abusive and no matter it is Nina or else, the substance is foul. Doesnt suit with Islamic or Christian values to hurt others in this rather inhumane ways. India as I see is the way to go for the world and why Indians themselves indulge into such spiritually sadistic hurt of a culture of India? Do we express views in such in humane wat. No other subjects?

  • @kothimira Have you ever seen the movie Dogma? You should it's funny as hell.

  • @kothimira you're a fucking retard - your lack of intellectual power is so evidently severe that you should be banned from using Youtube and much of the rest of the internet.

  • there are thousands of versions of ramayan and all vary at some point or other.. hinduism is about acceptance and learing.. every individual is on its owns journey so those self proclaimed pandits who wanna condemn this in name of religion i will request that you try to understand what relegion really means .. creativity should always be appriciated..

  • ninapaley read the ramayana can't read come to India children on street will teach you learn from them. people who supported you must be slapped form S!@#$%6

    .

  • This is not a Real Story of Ramayan.no one can write any comentry in and vedic philosophy without being the devotee of the lord.and i don't think that u know who is god ???????????? even you don't who r u ???????? why u r suffering???????? what is the aim of your life ?????????? you are actually blaspheming the lord Ram and Mata Sita.you are doing this thing for your popularity but this is not good.

  • Really liked the movie, thumbs up for Sita!

However, i thought that the fact, that Sita wasnt really abducted but switched out from her body by the shadow-sita made of fire, was more known? And only Rama, Fire, and Mother earth knew? Because thats relevant to understand Rama?

There are many versions of Ramayana, and i would not take any offense in her portrayal. It is a very entertaining movie, and actually Vishnu is the foremost of the humorous, i doubt he`d be angered by Ninas movie

  • Im loving this so far. just watched this first part so dont know your full interpretation. but I know forsure that the Ramayana definitely needs interpreting or it risks falling to the same literalization that all religions risk. So far, I think it is beautiful. Imagery and art is a good way to get at the core and its cool to see something ancient come through the images allowed by modern technology

  • @cgiwattgrrl99 I sincerely wish you luck ^^

  • To all those who hate on this work of art: calm down, it is an artistic adaptation of Ramayana. She meant no disrespect, and the movie is entertaining. As a big fan and student of Greek myths, I hated the Disney's Hercules because I felt like young kids were being screwed out of the truth and I would not give up a chance to rant on it, I know how you feel but after seeing this I realized something. Both Hercules and the Ramayana are important to their cultures and have been Americanized. But le

  • I am so offended by the negative portrayal of Ram. The creator of this video should do some research before making a film. Ram (Vishnu) and Sita (Laxmi) planned this entire event. If you read the "real" Ramayan, (800 pg book) you would know that Sita left her soul in the fire in the first place and had to collect it at the end. Sita is a goddess who is playing a part. DO RESEARCH! U R GIVING OUT WRONG INFORMATION! What is sad is that people who don't know the Ramayan are learning this crap!

  • @310snp Damn get a grip it's only a movie!

  • who are the characters at 3:27? are they actual historical figures or were they just made up and thrown in the movie to better the OP?

  • Comment removed

  • @3664242 -Oops, should have clicked that first.

    That's Sita and Rama.

  • @ZOMGAPOTATO y did they give rama 4 arms?

  • @3664242 -Vishnu form, I guess?

  • @ZOMGAPOTATO oooohh haha thank u so much lol i was so confused.

  • @vlonp u already seem daft enough to be unable to figure out why this pathetic attempt is offending...IT offends us GODDAMMIT.....n u wud hav only known had u been brought up in india and learnt to respect things that just need to be reverred undisputedly......may be u wetern shit heads wont find a flippant jesus dancing nude n singin his blues as amusing and entertaining and artistic and "honest"..

  • @jkdoll1111

You are offended by us not getting why you are offended. I am very offended by your comments.

  • nice

  • cooooool :D

  • marvelous

  • wtf

  • to me..it's brilliantly made..kudos to this movie...creative and authentic..

  • love this movie...bravo Nina Paley!

  • @ldinon If this movie were about occidental gods you would enjoy it. And they would be mad. People needs to start understanding that religion is PERSONAL. If it offends you... don't look a it. Don't do it. But you have no right to criticize other's opinion based merely on yours.

  • @rojo40

Noy, you're wrong. Anybody has the right to criticise anybody. You can criticise them back.

  • Kinda Terrible, why do people like this? Animation is so-so but the entire story and how it's presented is pretty silly and stupid. Why would they do a family guy type of acting for the indian gods? I know, stupid. 2 thumbs down.

  • @Guitarist500 wtf do you mean "family guy type of acting"? "pretty silly and stupid" describes something here, but it isn't me and certainly isn't the movie. (hint, that leaves YOU, lol)

  • @Guitarist500 P.S. "2 thumbs" is copyrighted by Roger Ebert who is a BRILLIANT movie buff and critic, and loved this movie. One of you is right and the other is wrong, and any intelligent person will guess the answer correctly in one try :-P

  • One question: At the beginning, with those Gods sitting there with the woman messaging the man's leg, is that Sita and Rama? Because the Man is blue, and Rama was always blue, so...

  • @77DarkButterfly Sita and Rama are avatars of Lakshmi and Vishnu (respectively); the figures in the sky aren't supposed to be Ram and Sita themselves, but instead their representative gods. This is how I've seen Nina explain it, anyway.

  • swaathanthryam janaadhipadhyam socialism zindabad:

    freedom democracy socialism zindagood;

  • i like the cat(:

  • thank yhou for this work of pure genius and love.

  • It's a strange movie, where the director first of all tries to appease everyone by calling their movie and when one further uses it then she's annoyed at it. Anyways whatever the point here is this that there's very beautiful blue music in this movie and some nice poetry... but the depiction of all characters are very earthly or even below earthly, well somehow it reflects the mindset of directors also and also exemplifies on which plan of existence she live .. but overall an interesting effort

  • reminded me of a samurai jack episode

  • This movie scares me a little. but i like it.

  • i remember watching this in my eastern philosophy class. i love this movie. great music and very educational.

  • A brilliant retelling of this story. Thank you for posting it!

  • This is an age old question in drama: are we truly free?

I think that's why the phonograph keeps skipping in this movie: we are all doomed to live out a prescribed fate (perhaps written for us in our DNA).

  • Why should I question copyrights...?. I'm a filmmaker, and I spend and sacrifice my time, health, and sanity to create my stories and my films... Why do I want to just give it away and let people use it as theirs????

  • @TheMohdd00 Because you are a filmmaker, it's not about you anymore, it's about the films you create.

  • @Oblanda Who created the film? and as an artist i will never agree to give my creations to anyone to take it and claim it... would you give away your children for anyone to take? would you say its about the children not you as the parent? When you steal you steal.. I have the right to my writings, and my films.... and it's not for anyone else to take....

  • @TheMohdd00 Nobody is claiming that artists don't have the right to restrict their works as much as they like. If you, as an artist, wish to restrict your work so much that NOBODY sees it, EVER, that is within your right, and easily possible. If, however, you would like people to see your work, you might choose an open license. Please do not conflate "stealing" with "copying", either. People are free to copy Sita, but not to "claim it as their own" (that is called PLAGARISM, not copying).

  • @TheMohdd00 The person who created is neena pale who inspired of give for free is still making money cause she believes in such concept and people who see for free still then go and buy it. After all i think and neena too i guess think everything should be free of money rest you will find in justfortheloveofit dote org where everybody help each other just for the love of it.

  • @TheMohdd00 Nobody is forcing you to. For examples on why you might want to consider shifting your ideas of property and profit, though, you should read more of Nina Paley's work, particularly her article on questioncopyright(dot)org about how information is inherently free while containers are not.

  • @TheMohdd00 That's the way you think cause we are in a monetary system that keeps you out of thinking forward to the answer. If you work for money instead of art or satisfaction I guess your films won't be good.

  • seriously I failed to understand what is really offending in this movie!!

it's rather amusing in my opinion and don't forget Hinduism always been a welcoming and humble religion. We always welcomed criticism and explained to the world if there were any confusions and we should remain doing that, it's a good habit.

  • this is very nice*

  • I love this so much. It got me through a really tough breakup and I feel like I can really relate to Sita.

  • Nina is so excellent.

  • pls dont encourage this type of versions... this is mere humiliation of great poet valmiki... if u people dont have respect to ur culture and others..culture.. do not.. critisise it atleast....

  • 4:08 - 4:44 #Orgasm

  • I dont get it, I am a Hindu and I dont see anything wrong with this film. It is clear from the start that this is a comic portrayal and has not historically correct. The film-maker just wanted to have some fun at Ramayana's expense and hence made this movie.Let us stop acting like Islamic fundamentalists and being sensitive about our religion.Although I'd have liked to see how christians would react if a satire on the bible were made.Lets just chuckle along and look at the fun side of things.

  • I adore the opening of this film. Such a thrilling and "childlike" (in the best sense) vision of some of the figures in the Hindu pantheon. The visual design is charming, witty and quite beautiful. And it's interesting how, on the one hand, the Annette Hanshaw music "humanizes" Sita, brings her down to earth, while on the other hand, the title-sequence music propels you into an exciting, epic, cosmic space. This sequence makes me happy every time I watch it.

  • @cinemasailor That's what I'm here to say. I got the DVD from netflix last night, and from the creative commons attribution I figured the opening would be on youtube. The animations and compositions in the opening delightful, and the pace and music is breathtaking.

  • The entire film was posted by user "questioncopyright" in 2009 -- but I like that you've added captions here.

  • @dickjoe I know, but this posting came significantly before the QC posting (youtube gave them special access after someone at Youtube contacted Nina - I'd applied for access originally but was denied outright with no explanation). The problem with the QC version is the quality is pretty poor. Then again, the quality of my part 1 seems to have been downgraded by quite a bit too, but parts 2 - 10 are all pretty nice.

  • @drakar7002 hey, thanks for replying! Sorry to hear about the denial. I'll use yours via embedded playlist when I blog about it... (Nina turned down Netflix Streaming, recent TechDirt post )

  • @dickjoe I appreciate the hits. I was one of the ones who weighed in on Nina's wall post on FB when she was trying to decide whether to accept Netflix's offer -- I personally dislike DRM powerfully, but in the case of Netflix I view it differently since they're selling you streaming content, not a download you expect to 'own' at all. However others made the case that their DRM system cannot be played on Linux and such, so I do support her decision (plus it's much more newsworthy).

  • @drakar7002 I tend to agree with you. I detest DRM as well, but I also find Stallman's hard-line "all information should be free" (as in speech) stance evocative and unreasonable. I too respect the decision, but agree with you that there is no expectation for Netflix Streaming to "provide a copy."

A pity really.. Nina is such an edge case there is little chance she will influence Netflix at all IMO.

  • Sita Sings the Blues is a remarkable film that is greatly humorous and an extremely fine animattion. thanks so much for sharing! good luck in all future endeavors.

  • eu não canso de ver esse vídeo

  • This movie hurts the religious feelings of Hindus.

  • Number one, this is a movie based on the Ramayana, it is not a faithful depiction of the epic story.

Right-wing Hindu nationalists in India are no different from right-wing Christians in America who are offended by art or some Muslims who were offended by Danish political satire.

I'm a secular Muslim by the way.

  • I must make a few things clear:

    1) I am not the maker of the movie.

    2) ALL further comments originating from people sent here by the "hindujagruti" website asking for the video to be "banned" and who have OBVIOUSLY NOT WATCHED the movie - WILL BE MARKED AS SPAM. I will not remove / censor any comments unless they are violent or threatening, but this influx of spam will be treated FOR WHAT IT IS.

    3) If anyone wishes to come here and discuss the movie INTELLIGENTLY then you are free to do so.

  • @bharatgoodfaith I know you have not watched the movie. Please do not comment further until you have watched the movie in whole - the list of "denigrations" purported by a certain website are PLAINLY WRONG - they don't even correctly represent the content of this movie.

  • What is wrong with this movie? It is just an intrepretation of ramayan in modern times, and they are seeing this through their prism of western culture. What a shame that anyone that intreprets differently is somehow categorized as insensitive. This DOES NOT denigrate any Hindu values, me being one. Good job Nina. Thanks for your awesome intrepretations. The problem with us indians is that we just always fail to recognize who our friends are and our enemies are. Nina is definitely not an enemy.

  • @andrer2006 Thanks, awesome comment.

  • @andrer2006 If these r ur views fine but keep it to urself. Western culture has become so low that there is no shame in having affairs, even by the president but if one objects to purposely hurting someone's religious sentiments then it is a shameful thing as voice was raised against suffering. Further, it is insensitive if someone says or depicts anything against say bible.

  • @JoyousNightjar You are right, somehow there is a trend of ridiculing others religions by Western Culture, either by Atheists or Christians(and both think they right). On the other hand those peeps become infuriated when somebody plays a joke on their belief. Strange phenomena indeed :D Well, if i am sensitive, and others not, becuz they choose not to, then its my business to keep my cool.. Sensitive one wins.. Their words are their disease, not ours ;)

  • @JoyousNightjar may be you ought to shut up too because you have no idea what i said, and you are rambling on about affairs and shit that i never brought up.

  • @andrer2006 If you dont get what I am saying then it may be that u dont want to know it.

  • @andrer2006 . You are wrong . This is an absolute dirt/hurt. It not only denegrates hindu culture but it insults it to the core. Only hindus do this to hindu culture with the guidance of others. Not sure Nina is a hindu unlike Arundhanti Roy.. As an Indian, I denounce this deliberate insult to hindu brothers.Secularism !.. Islamic govt.wuda issued a Fatwah right away & Nina wud fart away. And it is muslims who speak about the free speech?. This is barbaric & Savage.

  • @JamesVergs It's just culture, man. And one woman's rather beautiful vision of it. In fact, because of this, more people will now know of and possibly even look into the Ramanaya. So what's the issue here?

  • @RockerHeade They won't look at it as they would just a regular religious text.

Do you think Christians would like it if people started treating their religion like mythology?

You can't say that the people who become more interested in Hinduism are going to become Hindu... no, it's the opposite-- they'll think of it like they do of Greek mythology.

    That's the issue.

I have absolutely no problem with it, because I'm not Hindu, but I'm quite annoyed by the ignorant people who don't realize this.

  • @wc1hater My point is that attention has now been drawn to the Ramayana.

Christians already treat their own religion like mythology. The bible has been adapted into film, novels and even graphic novels.

This is a cute love story inspired by a religious one and while it most certainly is interpreted differently from previous iterations, I am largely doubtful that it is with harmful intention.

To equate this with desecration is unreasonable.

  • Harappa was before 3500 B.C, 5000 years ago from here. The highest period started from 2900 B.C to 1900 B.C, a mature Harappan period. 200,000 people lived in here during the ancient world.

Mohenjo-Daro is a bronze age Manhattan. The Indus people were traders carrying ivory and teak to Persian and Iran. With 2000 towns & villages, Harappa is a largest city in the world during that time with 5 million populations, a highest in the world.

  • good cartoon. But Appreciated, if you canremove some of non-sense scenes like Rama walking on sita's stomach. No normal human being will do that.

Also, indian archeaology has confirmed that the ramanaya and bharatha war happened in 350 B.C.

  • @narenreddy7 "No normal human being will do that."

In case you didn't notice, this is a cartoon. people also don't tend to be blue-colored, either.

  • @narenreddy7 but, thanks at least for being fair and generally praising it.

  • Nina Paley is an ignorant racist IDIOT - I guess even idiots have a right to their own opinion..

Just imagine what the reaction would be in American media if this was a movie denigrating Moses!!!

  • @gdeshpan lol what a retard. you actually think this is "denigrating" sita?!?

  • @Falco98 and your knowledge of Indian Culture is based on what my friend - watching American sitcoms or the stupid channels like Fox News :-)?

  • @gdeshpan One doesn't need any knowledge of Indian Culture to know what is or is not "denigrating". I have a little knowledge now, which I have become interested and studied (a little bit) due only to seeing the movie Sita Sings the Blues. If you actually watched the movie and paid attention past the first 5 minutes you would already know how retarded it is to say "Nina Paley is an ignorant racist IDIOT" -- it is clearly and plainly not true, no matter what you think about *me*.

  • @Falco98 if Paley had made a movie about a woman called "Xena" or "Jennifer" or even Nina, I simply wouldn't care.. I am tired of IDIOTs (yes, capital letters again.. :-).) interpreting Indian culture when they haven't experienced it or studied it. I am all for artistic interpretations or criticism from some one who understands the culture and the story of "Ramayana". Nina does not fit the bill - hence the label.. Has Nina been to India? Has she read any translations of original Ramayana????

  • @gdeshpan "I am tired of IDIOTs interpreting Indian culture when they haven't experienced it or studied it."

If you had any idea who Nina Paley is, you would know that you are (once again) completely wrong here. I would suggest you watch the entire movie (and pay attention) before jumping to any other premature conclusions about her or the movie.

"Has Nina been to India? Has she read any translations of original Ramayana????"

LOL! You haven't paid ANY attention have you?

  • @Falco98 to your comment about "paying attention", spending an year in Trivandrum India does not make one an expert on India. I read up on Nina Paley and there's nothing in her background that suggest a deep understanding of the culture. She mentions that she was intrigued by Ramayana and story of Seeta - Hmm... I am intrigued by brain surgery - that does not make me qualified to write about it now does it :-)? Nina appears to be talented at animation, just misguided in this attempt!

  • @gdeshpan "to your comment about "paying attention", spending an year in Trivandrum India does not make one an expert on India."

Seeing as how you were previously unaware that Nina had been to india or read the ramayana (and a shelf-full of various translations, by all accounts), I'd say this says alot of how much you bothered finding out before coming here to blast her. She has never said the movie is a complete or even accurate portrayal of the Ramayana, just a specific take on it.

  • @Falco98 and it's a rather poor take - both artistically and in terms of accurate potrayal of the characters from the Epic..

  • @Falco98 and by the way, this movie is not denigrating Sita (which by the way should be spelled Seeta, as the e sound is long), it is an incorrect interpretation of a Hindu epic called "Ramayana". Scenes from the movie such as "Lord Ram walking on pregnant Seeta", "sitting on Seeta's back"are ridiculous and serve no purpose whatsoever in the narrative. They are not consistent with the original text & do not serve any artistic purpose other than "denigrating" what's dear to over 1 B Hindus.

  • @gdeshpan Have you actually watched the movie? Or have you just read a list of supposedly "denigrating" items found in the movie on some crazy-fundamentalist hindu website and come to youtube to spout off about it? I only ask because some of the things you say make it clear you have not watched the movie, at least any more than the first few minutes, and perhaps some still frames that other people claim to be "objectionable". I suggest that it is you who needs to do some research.

  • @Falco98 ok - let's talk about specific scenes in the movie, shall we? Part 3 claims that Ravana was an other wise perfect King, who never strayed from the righteous path - except when he kidnapped Seeta! Now, any one who has read Ramayana (and I have my friend.. the entire text) knows that Ravana was the king of demons - Demons represent the "Evil" side in the battle of good and Evil. Demons and Ravana in particular, terrorized humans and Gods alike.

  • @gdeshpan ok, what about it? the shadow puppets were referring to how Ravana is referred to as a good king in other texts aside from the ramayana. In this movie he is portrayed pretty much how you say he is described in the ramayana.

Again i ask you: PLEASE watch the entire movie with an open mind before either judging or deciding what it is or is not showing.

  • Nina Paley is a MORON!

  • wtf is this don't spoil hinduism moron.

  • @dalmationbreed lol dumbass

  • @Falco98 lol asshole

  • the opening is so EPICCC!!!

  • Comment removed

  • The blue guy is Rama. He is the 7th incarnation of Vishnu, a Hindu god. and his wife, Sita, is a reincarnation of Vishnu's wife. This movie is about Sita. She was so loyal to him that she gave up riches to be with her husband in exile. She was kidnaped by the demon-king Ravana. While, Rama saved her, he thought she had been touched and therefore impure so she proved her chastity with a trial by fire. So they went back to his kingdom and he became king and his people were distrustful of her.

  • and so he exiled her. Leaving her pregnant and alone. So the teacher Valmiki took her in. Later she delivers twins - Luv and Kush. In the end her husband discovers her and her sons and realizes his mistake to distrust her and she tries to prove her purity and is taken back into mother earth's womb.

  • actually the whole morale was that Rama never doubted Sita. But he abandoned her to rule his empire. Thats the whole freaking point.

I.e the welfare of the nation was more important to him than his OWN personal life. Thats what the whole fucking epic is about. Jesus christ.

Nina Paley changed the storyline to feed her own feelings of being dumped and to relate to it. This is the fact of it all.

What I want to make clear is that this movie does not follow the original storyline at all!

  • from all hindus all around the world, all true hindus , i can honestly say that this was great and humorous i can;t see how you could be offended at such an honest look at things.

  • this isnt an "honest look". this is your typical know-it-all and been-through-all feminish outlook.

  • @vlonp

    i'm an indian..hindu..

    i loved it..

coz i adore the blues !

  • I love annette hanshaw! I wish we still listened to music like this!

  • I'm really enjoying it so far, looking forward to watching the rest. I'm an artist as well, so I find Nina's work very inspiring, and looking forward to learning some new things :)

  • I love this thing. I am an Indian who emigrated it just took me back. Please support Nina cause artists like her are hard to find. I felt really bad that she was criticized by the left and the right. I wish people had a sense of humor and were more honest with themselves. I remember having quite free flowing discussions with other Indians about religion my whole life and I am shocked that people find this offensive. I hope kids see this and I hope adults see this.

  • well muslims will never accept satization of muhammad the pedophile nor the quran now do they?

  • @au343 why was she criticised by the left and the right?

  • @larkfeathers The right thought it made fun of Indian religion and culture. The left because they found some sort of colonial commentary on the artist's part. Like the way the British would look at Indian culture back in the day's of the Raj. When the whole movie is nothing but reverential to Indians and Indian culture. Its a great funny introduction to the Ramayana and it brings up good questions through the hand puppets that I asked myself when I was a kid watching it on TV,

  • @au343 yeah it's light hearted, not hateful. so liberals and conservatives attacked it?

  • @larkfeathers Yup! Of course I am talking about Indian conservatives and Indian liberals. Though it was too small a project to get major attention. Yeah it is just a funny movie. Enjoy it or not and then move on. I personally thought it was hilarious....

  • @au343 right. it's cute and funny. if they made a funny movie about moses or something else, i wouldn't be offended. of course i'm not christian, but that story is part of my culture and upbringing, as someone who grew up in the church

  • I love this! What's with all the negative bullshit! Art is art and should just be appreciated, especially when it's good, which this is!

  • Now, if your fellow people (who enjoy this video as much as you do) try to watch it.. they can't cause you're arguing with some person about who's tastes are correct. Your trying to convince them that *everyone's* sentiments are the same, when your logic is also faulty.

Seriously, time should be spent wisely. Hopefully this nonsense can come to an end so the comments can finally be relevant to the video

Amazing how a combustion of immaturity can plur from just a tiny little comment/expression

  • "sums up what everyone thinks of you" <-- a fallacy statement. As I don't think he/she is a waste of existence just because they don't agree to the tastes of the video. -shrug- not everyone has the same taste. Move on and try not to insult those who are different than you.

Now look, comments are completely irrelevant to the video and more directed at how rude people can be to those who express a certain difference.

    -facepalm- moving along now...

  • @YourDarkAccomplice "Now look, comments are completely irrelevant to the video and more directed at how rude people can be to those who express a certain difference."

But.. but.. *someone's wrong on the internet*! If I don't say something, they'll just *keep being wrong!*

[i hope someone appreciates my poorly paraphrased XKCD reference]

  • So, let me get this straight.

Your logic: Let me stoop to someone's level and be equally wrong because I'm fighting for crown of internet king and must correct it.

If you really want to make a difference, get out the house and stop child trafficking or something.

Let people express themselves. Obviously he/she didn't like it. I don't mind. Even if I don't agree, why should I mind of call someone wrong because they don't share my tastes?

I'm sorry but that makes *you* and your actions wrong.

  • @khalishindustani I'm pretty sure it's not meant as a joke, just a slight reinterpretation to bring the story to a different generation and culture. There are moments of humor, yeah, but I know several people whose interest in Indian culture and religion were sparked by this movie.

  • Really? Is anyone here who watched this video interested to convert to Hinduism now? Obviously not because this is a satire of an epic. The reason why Indians got upset was because not of religious reasons but was because this is part of our HERITAGE. theres a difference. and on a religious level this DOES NOT represent Ramayana AT ALL. the whole point of the epic was to convey the MORAL OF THE STORY. which this satire has clearly ignored and infact twisted and defiled.

  • This is a waste of my existence.

  • @CalypsoEclipse which pretty much sums up what everyone else thinks of you right about now.

  • @Falco98 So, you think your own thoughts are the thoughts of "Everyone" ? Hmm... that's quite a delusion to be suffering. Nice.

Too bad, it's still a delusion. Look, if you like shit, it's your opinion. Don't state your thoughts as facts, mate. Savvy?

    Hope so.

  • @CalypsoEclipse I don't claim my thoughts to represent the thoughts of "everyone" in general, but in this particular case i'm pretty much sure the majority stands with me, and against you.

You're entitled to your opinion, just as much as I am entitled to point out how ridiculous it might be.

  • @Falco98 "sums up what everyone thinks of you" is a definitive sentence. Expressing your opinion as if it were fact.

But I understand why you're defensive nature wants to look for loops in order to look smart.

Obviously I hit a nerve for expressing the distaste that didn't appeal to my nature and you had to react in a hostile manner. Besides, even if you had a small group agree with you that my existence is a waste, considering we're both strangers, such a believe would be faulty anyway.

  • @CalypsoEclipse Perhaps my kneejerk reaction is a bit harsh. Maybe I should say "if you think this movie is a waste of your existence, it is my opinion that everyone here who likes the movie is thinking something similar of you right now". Better?

You are entitled to not like the movie, of course. And you are probably not a waste of existence as a person. But why are you wasting your own time to post such an infuratingly dismissive comment to a movie you don't even like?

  • What the hell is this sexist crap? xD
