Casey James' "Jealous guy" was a great performance, David Cook's "Hello" was a great performance, Chris Daughtry's "Hemerhage" was a great performance; but Adam Lambert's "Mad World" made greatness sound like absolute crap by comparrison.

Don't judge potential from song covers. He wasn't bad but this cover isn't that good. He sounds like he almost cracks his voice at some points where he tries to sing really softly. He does a kinda bad falsetto. Once again not a bad cover but not professional.

He showed such creativeness and talent with the covers, his voice, his interpretations. Which made me think that since he had ALL the freedom in the world to make something involving all these attributes after AI, he could blow us all away. Instead he chose a male Lady Gaga route. I'm glad he didn't win idol. He got to do a CD of his choice without idol forcing their 'look' on him. He got to be him! That's the most important part.

i cant believe the comments about adam is just 'prettying up' the song without emotion, or that it sounds terrible because the key is too high or its too fast... I think Adam was one of the absolute best performers ever on American Idol, not only because of his singing but because of his creativity. I appreciated his creativity more than anything and of course he has an amazing voice. Every time he sang I was glued to the TV.

It's ok, he got to make an awesome record without being owned by Idol and 19 Ent. He got to have a lot more freedom and his album was a huge success. Chris Allen, who won, has been completely forgotten by now.

American Idol produces singers for America...but the real test of what potential an artist has is how they perform internationally. Not being from the USA, there has only been 2 Idol performers who can attain to that, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert. Interesting to note that on a global scale there has only been 1 Idol that has won and is a major star, Kelly Clarkson. All the others who have done well around the world never win...hmmm does that say something about who votes in these comps?
