Amuseme, classes were officially canceled, but many professors chose to unofficially hold class because they want to teach their students no matter what.

Most of the comments on this video want the driver to run the protesters over. Realize that the individuals blocking the road are denying other people their rights.

I'm in favor of economic reform, but so many of these protests have made victims of the actual physical university and the students that attend it. Protest needs reform.

Do you really think pretending nothing is happening while a Public university is privatized - making a few people very rich while burying the poorest deep in debt - is a solution?

I'll venture to guess that most of those protesters can afford to take a day off from classes. There are many faculty and staff who can't, myself included - one day means 10 hours of work missed. To expect people to give you respect when you've given them none to begin with is ridiculous... It still adds up to a bunch of brats throwing a hissy fit.

I am concerned that it is perceived that the students were standing alone. They were not simply protesting fee hikes, but entire departments that will be cut and faculty positions eliminated, creating a situation where students will be paying more for less options. The faculty have a lot of stake in this issue and most backed the protest by doing what they could to cancel class while remaining within their contracts. There are system wide problems and this was a system wide response.

2 all classes and all businesses were cancelled that day as per a letter administration sent out that day

There was one incident where there was an emergency, a provost was down there at the protest with us and she volunteered to drive with the girl to go to her dorm room to get her meds. We talked to EVERYONE and tried to understand their situation.

Anyone with health issues, kids or worked in the health center was let through. What were we protesting? Well, let's first start off with the fact that Yudof and his crew are getting a 4 million dollar bonus EACH. It has been approved after he and his crew have declared a state of UC budget crisis. I can go on and on, but i don't want to spam this wall. PM me if u want to know more.

Which is a totally legit concern. The people who organized the shut down made sure to assign certain people the task of managing the situation if people need to get through due to emergencies. We made sure that family student housing, emergencies, and people working as medics/ in the health care clinic would be able to get onto campus. We did allow everyone who wished to leave campus to leave as they pleased. We only stopped vehicles, NOT bikers or people walking on foot.
